About Karen Galipeau Forner

We're a family of four who live in Redmond, Washington. Our family (my husband, two kids ages 13 and 11, and I) love spending time at the Whidbey Island Beach House where we can relax and enjoy each other's company away from the stresses of everyday life.

Karen Galipeau Forner purchased this house in 1999

Why Karen Galipeau Forner chose Whidbey Island

We always knew that we wanted a vacation home on the beach where we could spend time with our family. This home is a quick ferry-ride away from Seattle's eastside but feels like a world away!

What makes this house unique

When we first saw this property we knew it was the place for us. It has spectacular views with beach access and 'Cape Cod' charm. We also like the proximity to Coupeville which is an artsy town with lots of great restaurants, wine tasting, coffee shops and all of the amenities. Whether you like to spend time hiking, boating, shopping or just relaxing with a glass of wine, this house is the place where you can do it all!

Peaceful and centering

  • 5 of 5

What a deeply peaceful place to get away from the city for a weekend! My 5-year-old son LOVED the beach, the bunk beds and the board games. We got to take him kayaking for the first time ever. And I got to relax and watch the waves. Definitely going back there again!

I could not have been happier with my stay at this gorgeous beach house! The home was very clean, well-maintained, and spacious. The view of the ocean was breathtaking. The neighbors were very friendly. The owner was extremely helpful and accommodating. I have told all of my friends and family about this beautiful home. I highly recommend staying at this beach house to anyone looking for a beautiful and peaceful experience.

Amazing! Such a perfect Whidbey experience

  • 5 of 5

We rented the property over 4th of July and had an amazing time! We could see the Oak Harbor firework show and many smaller displays going on. The home is right on the beach with everything you could think of. The beds were comfortable and the house was spotless! We brought our own crab pots and caught 5 huge crab! Super fun experience and we hope to go back very soon!

Beutiful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This house is a fantastic getaway! Immaculate. Well appointed. Right on the water, the views from both inside and out were truly breathtaking.

We stayed there with our friends from the UK, and all of us marveled at how spectacular this spot is.

Super close to world class hiking trails with breathtaking views of the Olympics, but you don't even have to leave if you don't want to. We walked the beach each morning and afternoon. We thought about taking the kayaks out, but it was a bit too cold since it was January!

We will be back for warmer weather, but even over a chilly weekend, this spot was amazing!

Coupeville is the second oldest town in Washington with strict building codes that have preserved its historic feel. Coupeville and Whidbey Island offer a wealth of opportunities to experience nature. You'll encounter farmers and bald eagles, gray whales and bicyclists, sea otters and kayakers. Coupeville is a hub for artists of all types: visual, performing and culinary. Enjoy all types of music at the annual concert series. The central part of Whidbey Island is unique in that it is in the rain shadow of Mt. Olympus so it gets only 18' of rain a year--much less than in Seattle.
