Maison De Maître de Lévignac is just five minutes from the wine village of Duras and ten minutes from the wonderful bastide-town of Monsegur, both with a quintessential French market. Both, also, have a lively, fun, and very popular weekly night market as does the bastide of Lévignac-de-Guyenne, just metres from the house!!!! The property is forty-five minutes from Bergerac and Saint Emilion, and one hour fifteen minutes from Bordeaux.

Maison De Maître de Lévignac is situated in the very heart of the village of Levignac de Guyenne, which has immediate amenities including a grocery shop (bread, fruit, veg, cheese, milk, juice etc), artisan bakery, post office, pharmacy, and a medical centre (two doctors). During the summer the village has a popular Friday night market with a variety of local producers selling food and wine, together with live music and dancing.
The lovely old village sits very close to the borders of three departments - Lot-et-Garonne, the Dordogne and the Gironde, making it ideally placed for day trips to Bordeaux and the coast, or forays deep into the gorges and caves of the Dordogne region. The weather is superb throughout the spring, summer and autumn and the whole area is green and fertile - the local agriculture is mainly plum trees (for prunes), maize, sunflowers and vineyards.
Duras is the nearest town (5km) and has a very well run supermarket (Carrefour), petrol station, a bank with ATM, butcher, smaller shops, and a variety of cafes and restaurants. The beautiful 12th Century Chateau hosts a variety of events during the year. The market is on Monday mornings and not to be missed!!! And there is a very popular weekly night market. There is a weekly night market in Levignac, Monsegur, and Duras. All on different nights. All great. All within ten minutes. And another in Eymet too, just 20 minutes away.
Marmande on the Garonne and Sainte Foy la Grande on the Dordogne (20km and 25km approx) are the nearest large towns with larger supermarkets/hypermarché (E Leclerc etc…). Both are attractive old towns with good shopping, large parks and rivers with facilities, kayaking etc..., markets and numerous restaurants.
Bergerac on the Dordogne is 45 minutes away with excellent shopping facilities and a lovely old town quarter.

Duras. Vin et Flots - further up the square from Régine's - more modern interior and very popular with locals, must be good!!
Additionally there are a number of popular restaurants and cafes in Monsegur just ten minutes away and there is at least one restaurant in almost all of the pretty little villages and towns in the surrounding area, and the Night Markets and Farmers Markets are a great venue for French eating and drinking whilst mingling with the local people.

Note: Caretaker / Maintenance of House, Pool, and Garden.
Please note that a caretaker will sometimes reside in a basement apartment. This separate caretaker’s apartment does not impede, overlook, or interfere with the holiday property. The apartment is on a lower level of the village and is accessed from a different village street as to the holiday property.
The caretaker may not be there permanently. This caretaker may be the property owner Mark or another qualified person.
Pool and Garden Maintenance is carried out three times each week. Average time taken is 90 minutes. This includes comprehensive pool cleaning, water testing, and quality control, including chlorine and water Ph level control and management. To minimize disruption to guests maintenance will take place in the early morning. Garden Maintenance includes grass-cutting (once per week in high-summer), plant watering, and general grounds maintenance and repair.
Please remember, this is a self-catering holiday rental. Fresh and spare linen and towels are provided at the start of the holiday.
