Newly renovated 2 bedroom main floor condo. You can watch your kids at the pool from your lanai. This unit has just undergone a complete renovation with new luxury kitchen, fully renovated original bathroom, plus a brand new second bathroom with large shower toilet and vanity sink king size bed in master bedroom 2 single beds in second bedroom and pull out sofa. Also has a 'pac n play' high chair beach and pool toys boogie boards even 2 adult size bicycles. Walking distance to grocery store and farmer's market. Many fine eating places and shopping also within walking distance. There is one assigned parking spot located very close to the unit.

About John

My wife and I own 2 units at The Maui Sands. We bought our first unit, a one bedroom, in 2010. Two years later we purchased this two bedroom unit so our friends would have a bigger space to enjoy our lovely property.

John purchased this condo in 2011

Why John chose Lahaina

The Maui Sands is an 'old Hawaiian' property. It was built in 1965 and was one of the first resort properties in West Maui. The property consists of 6 residential buildings surrounding a large inner green space. We have a lovely pool with new pool furniture. There is a coin laundry on the property and two BBQ's for owners and guests.

What makes this condo unique

The centre green space are has some very unique plantings. Some of the palm trees are as old as the property. Our gardeners have been looking after our property for over 20 years.

Maui Sands is great family vacation option

Property is on the ocean. Watched sunset into it almost every night. Easy walking distance, even with kids, to great coffee, farmers market, convenience store, grocery store, restaurants and other shops. Very short drive to best beaches, luaus, snorkeling. Not long drive to downtown / Front Street. This particular unit had tons of fun stuff included like many snorkel sets, bikes, beach towels and toys, boogie boards and more. Fans for every room plus AC. World's fanciest resort? No, but great value and outstanding location. Family of four very happy.

Great place to stay in West Maui

Nice 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo on the main drag in Honokowai. Reasonably close to everyting in West Maui by car and also on a main bus route. John was easy to work with and very accomadating.

Great trip

This was our second stay at Maui Sands, first time in this unit. We had a great time and the condo was everything we had hoped. The new second bathroom was a real bonus (with teenage daughters along). The kids really enjoyed the fact that there was boogie boards for them to use. We hope to return again next summer.

Best location

This place was awesome! It is in the best location, close to Ka'anapali beach and Napili Beach, right across the street from The Fish Market and Ohana Taco. They have all the amenities you will need, boogie boards, snorkelling gear, pool noodles, beach toys and chairs and even some surf boards. The place is only a few steps away from the pool and enclosed enough that you aren't encroaching on others staying there. Totally sufficient for a family of six, although the pull out is uncomfortable they do have some blow up mattresses. They have a stroller, exersaucer and other baby gear. There is a laundry on site so make sure you bring tons of quarters, $2.25 for a heavy load and $1.75 for the dryer. There's no actual beach at the end of the property but there is a nice-ish beach and park 2 mins north of the property. The only reason I would give it 4.5 stars is because the manager of the place is very dramatic and kind of rude, and during our stay her husband was trying to fist fight another resident right out in the open area. It did not affect our stay but we did feel like she was not approachable if we had any problems.

Perfect Condo in Paradise!

I can't find a single thing wrong with this property. We had a great, comfortable stay. It is close to the road so you will hear a bit of traffic at night but we really didn't notice it. Walking distance to Times grocery, the ABC store, the fish market (we love this place), Barefruit Bar for your morning smoothies and up the street a bit to a market and Bad Ass Coffee for your morning cup of joe! One of the best locations we've stayed in Honokawai. We even walked back from Duke's beach house one night.

The Maui Sands is located in West Maui about half way between Lahaina and Kapalua. This property has only 55 apartments located on 3.5 acres of oceanfront property.

The property is surrounded by all the amenities you would expect. There are grocery stores, farmers market and convienence stores within easy walking distance. The beaches of Ka'anapali are easily reached by car or for the more adventurous a short 15 minute walk. You can also walk along the beach on a beautiful boardwalk all the way to Whaler's village. There are four golf courses within a 10 minute drive including The Plantation Course in Kapalua where the PGA Hyundia (formerly The Mercedes) tournament is held early in January as the first tournament of the golf year. During the winter from late December to mid April you can watch the whales. I have seen whales breach while sitting on the lanai of this unit.

From the beach viewing platform one regularily see turtles and whales in season. There are many fine eating places easily within walking distance, everything from family run take out food places to fabulous ocean front facilities. One of our personal favorites is Sunday breakfast at the Planation house restaurant at the Kapalua golf course. On a personal note some of the eating places you would think would be expensive aren't while some you would think to be cheap aren't either. So don't judge the restaurant until you check out the menu. We look forward to helping make your Maui visit special and hope to see you year after year.
