About David Mobley

Our love of the outer banks goes way back in history. The Dreamcatcher is co-owned by 2 couples. Dave & Kaye Mobley & Dave & Nancy Emnett. Dave E has been visiting since the 60's. The Emnetts as a family first vacationed in OBX in 1981. The Mobleys first discovered the beauty of the OBX in in 1987 they were invited on vacation with the Emnetts. We are all born & bred Buckeyes & reside in the Dayton, Ohio area. In 1999 our dream vacation became a reality with the purchase of the lot & construction of the Dreamcatcher. Since then both our families & friends have enjoyed our beautiful home away from home countless times. By career, Mr. Mobley is a CPA owning his our firm. The other three are all in the medical field with 2 nurses & a respiratory therapist. We both have grown children (2 each) & 5 grandchildren (at last count), We all share the love of dogs & have allowed them to be part of our beach life. We have had been blessed with wonderful memories made in the Dreamcatcher & invite you to make your own.

David Mobley purchased this house in 1999

Why David Mobley chose Hatteras Island

The property was originally looked at by the Emnetts due to lack of pet properties and one very wet week in a pop top camper with 2 kids & 2 labs. We have loved the Frisco area due to the secluded beaches & local fare. The 2 families have enjoyed many vacations in the area & when approached about a partnership, the Mobleys jumped at the chance.

What makes this house unique

The spectacular views are the Dreamcatcher's finest quality. With only park seashore to our north, we have an unobstructed view of the coastline as far as you can see including a view of the lighthouse. The third level deck offers beautiful sunsets views & is exciting for storm watching. The short walk to the beach makes it easy to spend time there.

Well Maintained and close to the beach

  • 4 of 5

My family and I spent 4.5 days at Dreamcatcher. We unfortunately had to leave early due to Hurricane Matthew. The house is well taken care of and the kitchen is well stocked for those that like to cook. The beach is a short walk away. The decks offer nice views of the ocean. We go to the Outer Banks every other year to vacation as a family and always enjoy our time.

Overall a great place to stay in the Outer Banks

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I had wanted an area that would not be crowded and for that reason we traveled in September after school had started. We read reviews of several properties and thought Dreamcatcher would be an ideal place. Previous guests had raved about the views and I would certainly agree the views from the property were outstanding. We could see the ocean and in the late afternoons, deer would emerge from the forested area on the north side of the property (no obstructing houses on this side). The walk to the ocean was short and easy to traverse. The house is equipped with all the cooking and dining needs. The only problem we encountered was the air conditioning unit for the lower level (where the bedrooms are located) did not seem to be working well. We could not tell much difference between running the AC and just leaving the windows open. Sleeping was a little uncomfortable a couple of nights. The upstairs unit worked fine however. Another picky little thing is the service company for the property provides only CHEAP toilet paper and trash bags (towels and minimal soap are not that great either) so you may want to bring or buy your own. No beach amenities are provided. Overall the property is worth your consideration based on the views and easy access to the beach.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest, The toiletpaper and other items in the welcome bag is only a starter items and not meant to last the entire stay. As for all of the other issues I wish you would have called Shore Detail. They would have corrected them during the week while you were there so you would not have to deal with it for the entire week. Shore Detail is an excellent maintenance company and they would have taken care of the issues. I am sorry that you had these issues but glad you did enjoy the stay. We always try to listen to the needs and suggestion of our quest. Thanks for staying at Dreamcatcher and will come back again.

Our favorite place ever!

  • 5 of 5

We visit our Grandchildren every year and this is the best home and area we have ever been to. The house was immaculate, very well designed for a large family (there were 8 of us). We all had plenty of space, the home and furnishings very comfortable with everything one needs for cooking and living in a relaxing environment. My husband and I slept better than ever and had all of the peace and quiet we needed even with the whole family there. Lots of decks and areas to enjoy the views in a nice neighborhood a few minutes walk to the best beach! The Grandchildren learned to surf there as well! We loved our stay and will definitely return next year. We were also there for Tropical Storm Hermine and the home kept us safe and sound through high winds and heavy rains! Thank you so much! Great vacation spot for our famiy

  • 5 of 5

On arrival we immediately enjoyed the look of the home, parking under the house was a bonus as well as the cargo lift. The home was very clean. The neighborhood was very quiet. The kitchen was well equipped, but I did miss having a garbage disposal. The WiFi Company was very responsive getting the WIFI connected. Great benefit of the house was the very effective central air conditioning and plenty of hot water. We especially enjoyed the warm water in the outdoor shower.

From any of the decks we were able to enjoy the expansive green area next to house, we saw a variety of wild life, even a fawn. The planes landing and taking off from the Billy Mitchell airfield added another dimension to our stay at the Outer Banks. We could see the Hatteras Lighthouse and the ocean views were great. The house is located about 3 houses from the beach, but it is a short walk. A short drive from the house to ramp 49, the beach could be accessed using a 4-wheel drive vehicle. We used this option most every day. The beach was never crowded.

We enjoyed the cinnamon rolls and the huge Apple Uglies from the Orange Blossom Bakery and Cafe. http://orangeblossombakery.com/. We spent a day enjoying the free ferry ride to and from Ocracoke. https://www.ncdot.gov/ferry/. Ocracoke is a fun place to visit, especially via a 6 passenger golf cart. http://www.ocracokevillage.com/. Grocery shopping was very convenient at the well-stocked Connor’s Market in Buxton. The staff was so pleasant and helpful. http://www.connerssupermarket.com/.

Clean, comfortable, and close to the beach

  • 5 of 5

Dreamcatcher was a lovely home base for our Outer Banks adventure. When you get this far south the population gets sparse which makes it the perfect setting for a quiet week of playing in the surf, hanging out with the locals, or just staying inside and playing board games with the family. The king bed was better than our own bed at home, the kitchen was well outfitted, and abundant lighting inside and out all made the house very welcoming. Our children were comfortable here too. The top bunk was broken during our stay, but there was plenty of bedding for four children to be comfortable even with that top bunk out of commission. Don't miss or underestimate the value of the cargo lift. We used it constantly and it made questions like "Do I really want to take this down to the beach" never enter our minds.

I want to make particular mention of Shore Details, the company contracted for maintenance of the house. We had a smoke alarm malfunction during our week (which is a totally normal thing to happen in a house). Shore Details got someone there within minutes of our call to replace the alarm. I hold them in high regard after our stay and they are a point in favor of renting Dreamcatcher.

Be sure to checkout Red Drum Pottery just a quarter mile up route 12 from Robin Ln. The coffee and chai were excellent and we found a beautiful memento of our visit to take back to our home.

Great time for my family!

  • 4 of 5

Positives: very large, well laid out house! Amazing view, practically on the beach! Very comfortable.(slept better there than in my own bed), Has everything you need. Close to lighthouse and the tip of the island. Close to the amazing Orange Blossom Bakery:) Private! Hot tub is fantastic with amazing views., Ice maker was a huge plus.

There were a few hiccups on this trip.....Lightbulbs that did not work, Remote controls without batteries and the house could use some updates. There is a concierge service but they only dropped off batteries and lightbulbs. They did not provide enough batteries and the lightbulbs did not work for the bathroom light that was missing. BUT for the price every second was worth it. Thank you for a nice vacation.
