About Ryan or Cheyanne Bailey

We are a family of five and have lived in the Black Hills for 30 years, we absolutely love it here. We built this house ourselves and enjoy living here very much. We also own a local coffee business. Our children are 7, 4, and 2 so they keep us busy.

Ryan or Cheyanne Bailey purchased this house in 2008

Why Ryan or Cheyanne Bailey chose Black Hills

We built this house in ourselves and take pride in the uniqueness we have given it! It is so much fun to build a home and watch your children grow up in it. The location here is priceless, so quiet and calm and private. An afternoon relaxing on the deck is priceless. There is wildlife to watch and places to explore, I wouldn't have it any other way. Just minutes from town makes it just the right spot and with only 3 houses on the entire road there is basically no traffic.

What makes this house unique

Some unique benefits here are all the little touches we made such as the barn wood trim and stairwell, macchiato pecan hard wood floors, the contrasting black and knotty alder kitchen cabinets, quartz counter tops, astro turf rec room. Home made custom concrete bar. I love the gardens outside, the beautiful fire pit built into natural granite, and the chickens down the hill add something special.

Excellent !

  • 5 of 5

This home was exactly what we needed and met our expectations. The homeowners were wonderful to deal with and helped make our vacation

A wonderful experience. We were grateful they opened their home to us.

We would stay again if we get the opportunity to return !

A Bit Disappointing

  • 3 of 5

Although the size of the house and the view out the back were great, I have to say the property was disappointing to my family. The house was quite dusty and many of the furnishings are beat up and dirty. There was one chair no one would sit in and the carpet in the basement is in major need of replacement. The playground area and toys were enjoyed by the kids, but they too are old and falling apart. We had 6 groups of people stay or visit at one time or another and every one of them got lost trying to find the place. Maybe a sign or distinct marker off the highway would help. We planned for months and stretched our budgets for this vacation and expected a little better accommodations. That being said, we had a good time with family, enjoyed the beautiful views and location in the heart of the hills.

Location, Location, Location

  • 5 of 5

Just a few miles outside Custer, and this home was in the perfect central location for all the sites in the Black Hills. As you drive up to the house, you can even catch views to Crazy Horse. We were easily able to travel to Hill City, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, and Hot Springs without driving for longer than an hour, and in most cases, we could reach our destination in half. We did learn to turn in at the campgrounds exit when coming from the Crazy Horse direction to avoid being rear ended on the highway, and it would be helpful if the owners included suggestions like this in the house for visitors. The house was well stocked with basics for cooking, and we grilled outside several nights. We had 4 adults, and found that if you turned the water to hot, you could indeed get a warm shower. The kids had lots to do with the playground outside, pool table and foosball table. My son was excited when he found the toy box in the basement as well! Overall, we had a great week at this house, and would recommend it for all the fun activities at the house and close by.

Lovely view, lots of room

  • 5 of 5

We were six adults with three dogs who enjoyed this house for four days. There is an outdoor dog run, but we brought kennels so we could keep the dogs inside during the day because the weather was so hot. The kitchen is roomy enough for several people. We especially appreciated that there were some basic supplies exactly as described (flour, sugar, oil, some spices and seasonings). A Keurig-type coffeemaker is on the counter, but we found an electric drip coffeemaker in a cupboard. We wish we'd had time to enjoy the deck, bet we'd have seen some wildlife. Internet worked just fine, one fellow in the group watched a little TV and we played a round of Scrabble. The house is very well-equipped. We'd love to come back!

Mount Rushmore vacation house

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the This house .. For our vacation to go to Mount Rushmore and the surrounding sites . The house is

Located within 30 minutes to 45 minutes of everything we wanted to do and it was great coming back to the house at night and sitting out on that back porch and just taking in that view off the back porch of the mountains.. The house has everything you need .. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans ..they provide linens towels pillows .The grocery store is only a few miles away if you want to make your own meals ...the only downfall is the water does not get that hot there for showers ... There is a foosball table and pool table downstairs along with a arm wrestlling machine and another bathroom ..two more bedrooms and a small family room with a TV which is a plus if you have teenagers .. The upstairs is the main living floor with the living room the kitchen.. the outside patio with the wonderful view , two more bedrooms and two more bathrooms ..with a washer and dryer in one of them ..and there is a fire pit outside which we used one night to make S'mores ... You won't be disappointed with this house although we never met the owners ..we did chat back-and-forth through emails.. they are very nice and very attentive to anything that you might ask. We will definitely be booking this house again .

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for staying and I am glad you enjoyed your vacation! We had an electrician come up to see what was going on with the hot water heater and there was a bad relay that we now have fixed! Thank you for pointing it out so we could get it fixed!

Nice large home with lots for the kids to do. Home had a well stocked fridge. Lots of games a pool table and foosball. The down side was there wasn't an over abundance of hot water. Every shower was warm.
