About Roxana Dorneanu

I am a real estate broker in New York City where I live during the week but cherish my weekends and holidays in the Hudson Valley. I discovered the area in the summer of 2004 when I rented a guest house for 3 months but come the fall I missed it so much I decided I needed to have something more permanent up there. I'm always sad leaving but I return to the city re-energized and serene.

Roxana Dorneanu purchased this chateau / country house in 2004

Why Roxana Dorneanu chose Red Hook

I had seen about 50 houses before I found this one. Being in the business I am very selective. I had driven up from the city that morning and had arrived early, before the listing broker had gotten there. I was so enchanted by the sound of the river and also the layout of the house. I LOVED the large kitchen as I love to cook; the double oven (had 14 people over for Thanksgiving that year) and the fact that it can accommodate a couch. I love having a couch in the kitchen.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Lounging on the deck listening to the river is incredibly soothing. Sleeping with the windows open in the summer is magical. I also like being close to the Taconic as I use the house year round and when the snow is heavy, it's nice to get home fairly quickly.

Peaceful cozy home.

  • 5 of 5

We were in the area for parents weekend at Bard so we were kind of busy all weekend, but it felt great to come back to a lovely home each evening. The new back deck overlooking the steam was beautiful.

Our host left great recommendations for sites to see and places to eat. Our daughter was already a fan of Taste Budd's cafe! Thanks for everything!

Great Month in Red Hook

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. The location was perfect. We were able to enjoy the area in all directions. Our guests enjoyed breakfast each morning on the deck. Roxana quickly responded to our needs with pleasure. We will return.

Owner's Response: Larry and Pam, Thank you for taking such good care of "our" special place. I just got back from spending 5 days at the house (right after you) and I was overwhelmed by how great everything looked. Thank you for caring for the lemon tree! I will send you 1/2 the harvest (2 lemons) when they ripen. That should be about 8 months from now. The photos of the mini-poodle guests is now affixed to the cookie jar. Thank you again and should you return and since you know the house intimately, I'd welcome your suggestions on how to make it a better and more comfortable experience. Roxana

Review of the Twin Falls Colonial in Red Hook

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Roxanna's lovely, secluded vacation home while attending our daughter's graduation from Bard. Roxanna was most attentive to our every need and extremely accommodating. The home offers everything one could want and we returned home rested and restored. We would definitely love to stay here again if we are in the vicinity!

Owner's Response: Mi casa e su casa. Next time the lemons might be ripe for lemonade or perhaps the peaches would be ready to harvest.

My sisters and I stay for the Country Living Fair. We had a great time. The place was clean and organize. Very comfortable. The owner has a folder that states where everything is. She was also very accommodating. We will recommend this place again.

Great Weekend Rental

  • 5 of 5

My family and I rented out this house for our daughter's graduation weekend. It was a great, clean space with plenty of room for all of us. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and relaxing on the big deck. Roxana was very accommodating and helpful. I would recommend her home to others who are looking to visit the Hudson Valley.
