Modern Bungalow - Greenlake (Tangletown) House, 1bed-1bath sleeps 4

Bedrooms 1
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 5 nights

About the property

Quality Quaint and Clean - 1 block from Lake

Completely up to date charming and modern 1901 Greenlake Tangletown bunglow with covered porch to relax and view the garden. This is a stand-alone house- not an apartment, so no one is above or below you. Sleeps up to 4 people; 2 in the bedroom's queen bed and 2 in the full sized new pull out couch in the living room. Living room zones off as a separate space with a solid wood pocket door for privacy like a 2nd bedroom. Dimmable lighting plus floor and ceiling lighting creates the perfect atmosphere to meet your needs. Greenlake is a vibrant Seattle activity destination, loved for its 2.8 mile path around the lake. Leisurely strolling to avid exercising draws people in from the greater area, plus a public pool, boat rentals, children's play area, tennis courts, soccer and baseball fields, basketball courts, and its close proximity to many coffee shops and unique restaurants makes this area enjoyable for all. A Walk to the Seattle Zoo and Rose gardens is only 1.3 miles.

About Mike LaVigne

Original Seattleites, my wife and I live next door to the bungalow which was originally purchased by my great grand-parents in 1924. We enjoy neighborhood walks with our dog to the lake and coffee shops, gardening and traveling.

Mike LaVigne purchased this house in 1924

Why Mike LaVigne chose Seattle

Family History! The 1909 World's Fair at the University of Washington drew my grandfather from Michigan for his first visit west and he instantly fell in love with Seattle. He returned 15 years later in 1924 to realize his dream of moving West with his wife and 2 young children - my grandfather and great-aunt. The four of them enjoyed the bungalow for four years while they built themselves a larger home next door, where my wife and I fortunately resided for the past 20 years. Needless to say, I'm sentimentally rooted to the property and all the wonderful family memories I've experienced here. We love the character of this very quiet and charming neighborhood, plus the quick central proximity to greater Seattle. I hope you'll enjoy the property as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

100+ year old established and quiet neighborhood offers close proximity to downtown, a 2 minute walk to the lake path, and a 5-10 minute walk to funky coffee shops and wide variety of restaurants and bars. Our favorite restaurants are a 5 minute walk: fine French dining at Eva's, Sushi at Kisaku, Burgers/Beer at Elysian Brewery, and hotdogs at Diggity Dog... end with coffee or tea at Zoka (oh yes, don't forget to start your day with a vegan doughnut at Mighty-O), the list goes on!

Great Location, Great Hosts

  • 5 of 5

I needed short term housing for two months and this was the perfect place. The house was just the right size, in a great location, and with all the amenities. Restaurants, stores and the lake are all in walking distance and close to downtown. The hosts are very welcoming and Dottie is the best. I would recommend to anyone.

This is my second time staying in this perfectly comfortable cottage. It is perfectly maintained and has all the comforts of home. The location is perfect too--a short walk to the lake and restaurants and coffee shops. Parking on the street is easy, too. The owner is very responsive and pleasant. Looking forward to staying here again in 2017!

Highly recommend

  • 5 of 5

We stayed two weeks in this immaculate, adorable house. Lovely property: gardens, lawn, set back from the road. Everything you need is at the house, very thoughtfully provided, from kitchen utensils to sewing kit. An on-site private laundry is a huge benefit for those staying more than a few days. Great location: fast access to freeways; minutes to the city. Short walk to downtown Green Lake with its organic co-op, coffee shops, restaurants. Whole Foods is just a tad further. A great in-town walking path is in a Green Lake town park; there is a trail around the lake, which is a hundred yards or so away. Mike is a gracious host. Notable tid bit: the first person to rent the house was Dave Mathews (DMB), who rented the place for a friend. You can rent this house with full confidence that it is what it is advertised to be...and then some.

The house was exactly as pictured!

We stayed for about 10 days and it was absolutely wonderful. Michael and Danny were extremely helpful. The house is set up for anything you could possible need. We will be going back and forth to Seattle for medical reasons and would stay there again every time if it is available!

Perfect little get away

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mike and Daney's bungalow. Great location a couple of blocks from Green Lake, modern but comfortable and spotlessly clean. Cozy but efficient and well-designed use of space with many thoughtful touches.

Hosts were very gracious about accommodating an earlier check in for us despite guests leaving the same day, and without compromising on the cleanliness/preparation of the unit.

Will be tops on our list for our next trip to Seattle!
