This is a lovely newly remodeled 4 bedroom, 2 bath home with 2 showers and a large bathtub. A view of the San Francisco Bay from the living room. The home was built in 1940 and has only had one owner. Oxford Manor has been brought back to its' original charm. University Mound area is San Francisco's best kept secret. Two blocks to McLaren Park. A good weather area. The master bedroom is called, 'The Hall of Flowers', and has a queen size bed with view of the backyard. The 'Sausalito Room', also has a queen size bed with a an electric fireplace hearth. The private 'Rosewood Suite', is another bedroom with a double bed for two. Downstairs has a double bed as well and a door to the backyard. The smaller room 'The Sun Room', overlooking the backyard garden with french doors also serves as an extra bedroom for one child or single person. Single sofa bed has an extra memory foam mattress for comfort, and it is off the Sausalito Room connecting. There is a new double memory foam double sofabed couch in the living room that sleeps two guests and is comfortable. Double and Queen size beds have Egyptian cotton sheets. There are also 2 extra footans. The living room is spacious with oak hardwood floors throughout the whole house. Electric fireplace for warmth and comfort while watching TV. Also gas heating in the home. There are two new couches in the living room and one of them has 2 push button recliners! Bay windows with a view of the Bay and beyond. Newly tiled kitchen floors with the original kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped. The bathrooms restored to retro 40s style. The tap water is also very good and we have a Britta filter pitcher in Fridge. There are spices, tea, coffee, sugar, & popcorn, The bathroom upstairs is large and has a large tub and a separate shower. The bathroom downstairs is newly remodeled and has a nice shower and marble floors. Both bathrooms are available for all parties of 1 to 9 people. In the backyard garden there is a canopy of trees shading a morning breakfast and tea garden table for outdoor enjoyment, seats 6. There is also a large Weber BBQ in the backyard with tools. The Kitchen has new appliances and is off the dining room area that can be closed off from the kitchen to make it a more formal dining room experience. Downstairs there is a 1 car garage and you have a garage door opener. The garage is a real plus for parking in San Francisco. There is also plenty of street parking in this safe neighborhood, or you can also park in the driveway, but not block all of the sidewalk. You drive into your garage and you go right up the interior staircase. There is a washer, dryer, and laundry detergent. A very quiet neighborhood, University Mound is one hill south of Bernal Heights and all of the streets are named after Universities. Close by to McLaren Park with its' beautiful walking trails, redwood forest, picnic BBQ areas, new children's park, tennis courts, Jerry Garcia Amphitheater, a beautiful Lake you can stroll around and more. Close access to all areas of downtown, 7 minutes away by car. San Francisco Airport is 10 minutes away. Close access to Hwy. 101, and Hwy. 280, only 15 minutes to Berkeley and the Golden Gate Bridge, and 30 minutes to Sausalito. Close to Noe Valley, Glen Park, Cortland, and the Mission District's Valencia Street for great restaurants and coffee shops. Close to Alemeny's Farmers Market on Saturdays and Flee Market on Sundays.

About Holly Harman

Oxford Manor has been in Eric's family since he was a child and so he takes special pride in it's upkeep. Holly and Eric both grew up in the Bay Area and first met at a picnic when the were young children. Now married and in business together, they have decided to make their home your home too.

Why Holly Harman chose Excelsior

It has a very homey feeling about it. It's pretty close to all different locations of the city and bay area, so once you get a feel for your way around, you can get to lots of locations in no time. This is located in the sunny weather area and it is a nice place to just relax, as it is in the city, but in a quiet neighborhood with lots of parking, near a big park. An area yet to be discovered with views of Mt. Diablo and the SF Bay in the distance. A great place for families and friends on vacation or business associates in for trade shows.

What makes this house unique

We have taken the time to restore the home ourselves. Each room has a theme. The living room is the San Francisco Room. One of the bedrooms is the Sausalito Room and the other bedroom is the Hall of Flowers. The Sun Room leads out to the backyard garden and is right off the Sausalito Room. Downstairs if the private Rosewood Suite. It's just a fun place to come home to and relax watch TV and or enjoy the peace and quiet the neighborhood provides. There are redwood forests two blocks away in the second largest park in San Francisco. Get out, breathe the fresh air, sunshine, see views across the bay from McClaren Park to Mt. Diablo.. Walk around the lake, it is beautiful! Please no late Parties....

  • This is a 4 bedroom house with 2 bathrooms. 2 bedrooms, each with a queen size bed, a double bed in the Rosewood bedroom. Sun Room that can be another bedroom for a single person or a child. With a single sofa bed with memory foam mattress for sleeping comfort. The sun room opens up to a backyard garden with french curtained doors into the Sausalito Room. There is also a full size sofa bed in the living room with a memory foam mattress for sleeping comfort for 2 guests. We also have a double footan and single footan extra sleeping. There are many sets of clean sheets available if you want to change them on longer stays. We can sleep 9 + comfortably.

If you pay attention to detail, this place has it. Equipped with all you will need to feel at home here. If we don't have something please let us know. In the kitchen we supply ground coffee, sugar, spices and more. In the bathrooms we supply kleenex, TP, shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, Oxford soap, Bubble bath, and more.

Not as true as written in description

The house is nice and has character. It is not what we were expecting from the description. It was a 20 to 30 minute drive to San Francisco's main tourist area. So that meant $30 taxi fare each way. There is a bus but that takes an hour.

The main problem was it says it sleeps 9 and has 4 bedrooms. Well one of the bedrooms was accessible through another bedroom so no privacy and the other bedroom was in the basement with no windows. The 4 th bedroom was only a single pull out bed and the other bedding which was supposed to be a double was a pull out bed in the lounge room that was so uncomfortable it wasn't funny.

Owner's Response: The house has comfortable beds. 2 Queens, 2 Doubles and 1 Single. These guests did not read the details on the home. I let 2 groups of people show up early to drop off their bags at different times in the am. Check in time is 3:30 pm. We are 10 mins. to SFO and 7 mins. to downtown. Everything is shown in photos with photo descriptions about each room and what we provide. We take pride in making our home comfortable for our guests. The downstairs bedroom does have windows. Other guests say the beds are very comfortable and that the home is exactly as described.

Fun time in the city!

This home was perfect for our group; 5 adults and 3 children. We loved that the home has been recently remodeled but has kept the integrity of the era it was originally built while adding some modern conveniences. One of the owners was raised in the home (on the refrigerator there is a picture of him as a little boy in front of the house), so his love of the home is evident in his care in remodeling.

All the bedrooms were beautifully decorated with comfortable beds and more than enough towels, blankets, pillows, etc. The kitchen is well equipped as well as plenty of paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, etc.)

There is a cute little garden area in the back which we didn't use that much as we were out exploring the city during the daylight hours.

Delightful House full of character

Had a lovely stay in this fabulous, quirky house. We were a party of 5 adults and 4 children, and there was plenty of space. The kitchen had every utensil needed, and the property was comfortable and clean. My niece adored the retro pink bathroom, and my boys loved the cellar bedrooms. Would recommend this as a great place to stay in San Fransisco.

Nice place to stay while visiting San Francisco

We found the Oxford Manor a fine place to stay. We were there for 4 nights.

The neighborhood is residential and quiet. Parking on the street presented no problems, other than 1 night being a block away. The bus 3 blocks away on Silver St goes to the BART, or to a bus downtown. No nearby retail shopping, not an issue.

The upstairs is delightful, with a small but adequate kitchen, large living room and nicely done bedrooms along with the shared bath.

The downstairs is good as well, with 2 bedrooms and a shared bath and sitting room. Can be accessed via the overhead garage door as opposed to going upstairs and back down. The garage is small, suitable only for small cars, better to park on the street.

In summary, we had no issues or concerns, and would recommend to others without hesitation.

Sunny good weather area. Close to shopping on 24th Street in Noe Valley or Glen Park. Minutes away from the Embarcadero and to downtown. Easy access to Hwy. 101 and 280. so you can get anywhere in the city pretty fast. Only 10 minutes to the airport on Hwy. 101. Alemany Farmers Market on Saturdays and Flee Market on Sundays, right down the hill. Five to 15 minutes to anywhere in the city by car. McLaren Park has Basketball, Tennis, Hiking, Swimming Pool, Playground, Golf, BBQ, Large Lake, Jerry Garcia Amphitheater, and Picnic Tables. Just 2 blocks away to the Park. 2nd Largest Park in San Francisco. Park was designed by John McLaren, who also created Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
