Great Family Spot
My wife and I like mid-coast Maine (Damariscotta, in particular) but usually rent a smaller place, just for the two of us. This year we wanted to have our kids come up and Biscay Pond Lake House really fit the bill.
The house is spacious enough that our 6 adults had plenty of room and did not get in each other's way. Beds are comfortable, kitchen is well outfitted, common space is roomy, yet cozy. The deck was great, but the fire pit and Adirondack chairs down by the lake were the hit of the week. Coupled with the canoe and kayaks which we took out often, there were few reasons to leave the lakeside ( had it not been early in the season, we would have been swimming, as well).
Steve was great to deal with and his father (next door) brought over a large lobster pit and gas cooker that, in coordination with the gas grill, allowed us to do much of our cooking outdoors.
There are plenty of stores nearby with fresh produce, grass fed meats, artisan cheeses, baked goods and spirits all a short drive away. Good restaurants in Damariscotta, Round Pond and New Harbor are close by and include lobster pounds, bistros, pubs, and water view dining. The Pemaquid peninsula has outstanding scenery and Boothbay or Rockland/Camden are a short drive. That said, you may not want to leave the tranquility of the lakeside on your own little piece of waterfront property, (if only for a week).
We all loved it !
What a gorgeous spot! And what a supremely comfortable house. In a quiet cove of Biscay Pond. I was able to catch (and clean and cook) two of our dinners -- bass. Easy access to Damariscotta, with its great shops, restaurants, and live music. Not far from Pemaquid Point, one of Maine's most beautiful spots, and Round Pond (also good live music and the great Muscongus Co-op)..
It was only two of us and a dog, so we did not make full use of the many rooms. We did fully use the one canoe and two kayaks.
The wifi never worked, but we grew thankful for that during our two week stay. We went to the lovely Maine Coast Bookstore in Damariscotta when we needed wifi access.
We always come to the Pemaquid region over the summer. We will probably rent this very house next summer. It is wonderful!
Sunrises and kayaking with Loons
What could be better than kayaking in the early morning sunshine with a pair of loons and their loon chick in tow. Wow, what an amazing place. A great place for family, fun, rest and relaxation. This place will quiet the stress and bring a bit of peace to your day. From kids to adults we all enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful Place to stay!
We went there with our two 11 year old children and what a picture to wake up to. The lake was shimmering every morning, we would sit and enjoy our coffee with the view everyday and never got sick of that scenery :) The kids enjoyed swimming in the lake and using the canoe that was provided for us. A beach was 10 minutes away so we also visited there as well. There are some nice resturants not far away from where we were to enjoy some good ME food as well. We will most likely make this our yearly Maine Vacation location! Thank you very much!
