About the property

Four Bedroom, Beautifully Furnished Family Get Away

This cabin has everything to get away from it all, including no television or cell phone (Internet available for a fee). It's a luxuriously furnished getaway. It sits on a 5 acre meadow reaching directly to the private swim dock and beach on fallen leaf lake.

The lake is an exquisite national treasure. It's 5 miles from the nearest public highway, surrounded by mountains and forests. You'll be in the wilderness. The cabin is within a few hundred yards of a general store and marina, with enough amenities that you'll not need to venture out. You can swim, water ski, fly fish, trap crawdads, play capture the flag in the meadow or just sit on the terrace and relax. You'll be a short 5 minute walk from the trailhead for the desolation national wilderness area and access to the pacific crest trail from mexico to canada across the top of the sierra nevada mountains. You can do local nature walks or the most vigorous hiking and climbing to hundreds of lakes, steams and falls. You'll not be disturbed.

Or you can venture back down the road to the casinos, restaurants and social life of south lake tahoe.

The cabin is fully equipped for family or adult adventure.

A little piece of heaven

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from 5 days at this cabin, which we shared with our son and his family. Everyone loved the cabin, no one wanted to leave. The "cabin" itself is very luxurious - cozy living room with lots of seating, a large dining area which easily seats 8, a well equipped kitchen, four bedrooms, all with comfortable beds. We preferred the downstairs bedroom which had a private bath. There are three more bedrooms upstairs (1 king, 1 queen, 1 with 2 twins). The bedrooms upstairs all share one water closet, but there are two shower rooms as well, so it was easy to share. Our son and his family stayed upstairs, which gave both of us plenty of privacy. The location is ideal - it's a short walk down to the lake, with a nice dock where you can set up chairs for sunning, swimming, etc. There are several hiking trails in the immediate area; we hiked every morning, and came to the dock in the afternoons for swimming and paddle boarding. There is a very nice general store/cafe with an easy walk. We had lunch and breakfast there twice, but mainly picked up grocery items and cooked at the cabin. The only downside to this cabin is the road in. It's a narrow, five mile long, one lane road with a multitude of potholes, which made it very difficult to get into and out of the area. Once in, we just stayed put. Hopefully that will be improved by next year. There is also no cell phone reception, no internet, no TV, so if you can't live without those things, this isn't the place for you. We personally loved that aspect. You can get a weak signal down by the general store, so our party checked in once a day and the rest of time, we just left things turned off. It wasn't a big deal for us, in fact quite the opposite. Fallen Leaf Lake is so much more peaceful than Tahoe, so for our family it was ideal. There are no crowds here! We practically had the lake to ourselves. The owner is very easy to work with and responds in a timely fashion. We will definitely come back.

The Property is the perfect place for family and friends!

  • 5 of 5

Returning to Fallen leaf for the third year in a row was the best trip yet. The home is the perfect location. Our goal is not to get back in the car, the small store down the road was great for the things we forgot. The water fall this year was roaring. Kayaking every day in the lake was perfect. Family has plenty of room in the home. Memories around the fire pit will not be forgotten including roasting marshmallows with our grandkids.

Perfect Sierra Adventure

  • 5 of 5

We were so pleased to share this cozy, yet spacious property with our family of seven. The

Fallen Leaf Lake home was elegantly rustic and perfectly appointed. Each family member individually expressed enthusiasm for the beautiful, serene setting and inviting, comfortable home. The outdoor mountain setting was breathtaking!

We visited the lake in fall, with crisp nights and sparkling sunny days. What a treat to discover this delightful mountain retreat. The generosity and graciousness of our hosts has been greatly appreciated. We strongly recommend this vacation rental to others and are anxious to return again ourselves.

Relaxing retreat

  • 5 of 5

Fallen Leaf Lake is a special place that offers all the beauty of nearby Lake Tahoe but with peace and privacy that are hard to come by. And this house only enhances ones experience of nature that is right outside your door. The view of the lake from the spacious patio is unobstructed. And inside you are greeted by a beautiful and accommodating kitchen, an open and inviting Great Room, and comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms. This house truly is everything one could ask for from a lakeside retreat.

A hidden jewel

  • 5 of 5

We were looking to stay at Tahoe keys and this property popped up. So we looked at a map and relized that this was what we were really looking for. The home was absolutely amazing. Waking up ever morning to a view of the lake from our bed, short walk to the general store for a news paper and then enjoy the paper while drinking coffee on the deck. When our family arrived they each had a master suite with a private bath. Out on our kayaks everyday, water was like glass. Playing in the water from our private dock was great. Fished with our grandson in the morning then walked to the marina in the afternoon for ice cream. Perfect!! Hiked over to a waterfall and another small lake. Our goal was not to get back in the car until we went home. We were successful. While having breakfast on the last day our family voted to make Fallen Leaf lake our annual family trip for many more wonderful memories.

A Slice of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our first (but not last) stay here. The lake is crystal clear, the scenery is breathtaking, the smell of the pines, amazing. "Sublime" is the perfect adjective for the cabin and the location. Completely cozy, but very, very tasteful and almost elegant, the house feels nothing like a "rental". We were 6 adults and 3 under 8 and there was plenty of space. We're all cooks so we really appreciated the well stocked kitchen. I don't think there was any time that at least one of us wasn't lounging on the deck. That double chaise is heaven. Having the marina store so close was a nice addition. It was fun to walk up there for an ice cream or a paper or even lunch. We didn't explore as much as we thought we would. No one wanted to leave! Really perfect.
