We requested to book a cabin on VRBO. Our request was confirmed, and we were told by staff that a cabin was available. After receiving the email, we immediately called, left and message, and tried to book online. Apparently, the cabin was not available, even though we were told it was. The woman blamed it on VRBO. We were supposed to come from Wilmington and enjoy our first Thanksgiving as a family there, but now we can't. I do NOT recommend this cabin, simply because of their service!!! OR LACK THEIR OF!
My husband and I stayed here last fall and it was absolutely amazing! The cabin was very nice and clean. It was cute, charming, cozy and relaxing. Exactly what we were looking for. We woke up every morning to the sound of the stream right outside our door. The ladies who manage the cabin were so friendly and very helpful recommending places for us to go according to what we wanted to do. My husband is into mountain biking and they were very helpful in finding a place for him to go, along with touring the mountains and restaurants/shopping. I definitely want to go back sometime soon!
We had a very nice time visiting the Asheville area with our cabin as a jumping off point for a week. We were very nicely surpassed to get to the Cricket cabin and have a sign hanging by the door wishing us a happy anniversary. The lighting could have been better in the cabin. I understand why there wasn't any overhead lighting (very low ceilings), but I would suggest embedded LED, dimmable can lights to solve that problem. The porch was great next to the creek - but I would suggest trimming down the trim that covers much of the porch and the view - just below the railing so we can see out. The setting is not far off the main road that goes through there, and what seems to be a growing epidemic of personal vehicles that sound like they should be on a race track was evident there at times with their roaring coming in to invade the peacefulness. There is nothing that Mountain Springs can do about that, but just a warning. Our cabin was the closest to that road though - maybe some of the ones further in wouldn't be as bad.
I could see this being a great place for a few couples, especially couples with kids. You could probably spend most of your time there hanging out, playing in the field, cooking out, etc - if you really just wanted to get away from everything. Internet was good - better than many hotels that advertise having it, but don't seem to have any throughput.
The creek is large and definitely a good one to play in - for adults or kids. :)
I could see us returning at some point.
This place is wonderful. A short drive to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We stayed for 4 days and 5 nights and loved every second of our trip. This location allowed us to stay in our cabin all day watching DVDs (FREE from the office) or venture into own for an eclectic downtown Asheville meal or head down the gorgeous Blue Ridge Parkway to take in breath taking views of endless mountain tops. The staff is also absolutely fantastic, they were so helpful whenever we had questions and they were incredibly personable (so easy to talk to). We are already planning our next trip!
Beautiful cabins, exceptional clean, quiet setting .......can't say enough about our recent visit to Mountain Springs Cabins. We were looking for a cabin close to Asheville so we could visit our son and his family who recently moved to the area. We were delighted with our " find". The staff was very helpful and we were very impressed with the cleanliness and quality of the decor. We are planning a return trip during the holidays with family members.
Wonderful place to take your family or do a group family vacation and rent several cabins. It's what we're going to do next year and every year. Kids can be kids and parents can relax. Loved it and so did my family. even our 10 month old had a great time!
With full concierge service and a million things to do in the area, we could keep you busy for a month! Stick to just the historic places of Asheville and visit the famous Biltmore Estate, go to the Grove Park in for dinner and drinks, or visit the highlights on a trolley tour.
Interested in art and culture? We have you covered with the River Arts District, Downtown Asheville, and tons of seasonal festivals. The River Arts District is the first, largest, & most walkable tour of working artists’ studios in the region. The Stroll takes place in 19 historic buildings along the French Broad River. For evening fun head into downtown Asheville for dinner and some street entertainment. The Asheville Drum Circle is a 9-year tradition and the coming together of local citizens to dance and play music. Bring a percussive instrument and join in the fun and dancing. Located in Pritchard Park every Friday night til it’s too cold. Crowd favorite. Check out the YouTube clips!
Want to wear out your hiking shoes? We are just a few minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway with more hiking options than you can possibly get to. There is also nearby Brevard, the land of waterfalls, as well as many state parks and national forests within a short drive. If you prefer to pump more adrenaline then there is white water rafting, zip-lining through the trees, horseback riding, and more.
Maybe you just want to get away and enjoy the peace and quiet of country life. We have that too! We always recommend that you plan to spend at least part of a day on our property. Swinging on a porch swing with one of our sweet property cats or laying in a hammock reading or listening to the stream, it doesn't get better than this.
For families, experience your kids getting to be kids. Playing in the field and catching fireflies at night. Asheville is very child and dog friendly so bring the whole family.
Just let us know what your interests are and we are happy to direct you from there. We sell discount tickets to a couple of the local attractions so check with us before you go. Please visit our website for additional information. Hope to see you soon!
