About Vicki Parker

Grew up in the area and moved away - but there is no place like home so had this cottage built. We don't get back as much as we would like to so we decided to share our slice of heaven with limited rental. Have lots of family in the area who make sure that our place is clean, well kept and ready for you.

Vicki Parker purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Vicki Parker chose Manistique

Family loves the outdoors and four seasons. There is no better place to be than Indian Lake to fish and golf and Hiawatha National Forest to hunt. Great, relaxing place to come back to and watch the sunset after a long day. There are numerous small lakes close by as well as miles and miles of groomed OHV trails which are well marked. We also love going into 'town' and enjoying the local area including the boardwalk along Lake Michigan. Two lighthouses and Fayette - don't miss them!

What makes this cottage unique

Without a doubt having a fire in the pit, watching the sunset, being able to swim in a shallow lake off the dock and just relax is the best benefit of our cottage. Enjoy your snowmobile, ice fishing, snowshoes, skating, skiing and more!

Very nice vacation retreat

  • 3 of 5

Upon arrival it was very easy to see that the house had not been cleaned from the last party that stayed. After contacting the owner it was quickly taken care of and we were adequately compensated for the inconvenience.

The toilets are extremely touchy, we were not able to use the upstairs toilet for the entire time of our stay. Not sure if this can be avoided or remedied but this is an inconvenience if you have several people staying. We had six people staying with only one of the 2 toilets working for the entire week.

The walkout door in the photo does not lock properly and the door connecting the basement to the first floor of the house really should have a lock as well.

The private "beach" area is rocky and the water is crystal clear but you need to wade out quite a distance before you can actually swim in deeper water.

If you are interested in water toy rental like we were, there is a referral for Dale in the paperwork but Dale no longer rents pontoons or jet skis, only kayaks for $35/day each and an aluminum row boat.

Overall this is a very nice property and we enjoyed our stay despite the inconveniences. The lake is beautiful and the house is pretty well maintained. Take the time to see some of the natural beauty of the UP even if you have to drive a bit.

"the relaxing house"

  • 4 of 5

We call this the relaxing house (named by my 5 year old) the water is warm, shallow (good for children) with a sandy bottom.

We ventured out most days and saw Mackinac island, Garland zoo, waterfalls etc. The house was a perfect place to come back to to rest our tired bodies.

Nice place!

  • 4 of 5

Very nice area and lake. There was a close boat launch, so we were able to have our boat at the dock all week. The water was great, weather was great, barely any bugs, and everything we could have wanted was available. It was very close to many things. Our favorites were pictured rocks and kitch-iti-kipi. The small movie theatre was also fun for the rainy day! Thanks for a great stay!! The only reason I didn't give a straight 5 were the super close neighbors with a dog that barks most of the day and evening.
