Lower Moonridge Cabin Rental Photos and Description

"The Biggest Little Cabin in Big Bear" Close enough to town, quiet neighborhood.

Family Friendly Cabin in Moonridge

Call us for more details and discuss potential saving: 424-488-4050

Super comfortable, a lot bigger than what it seems.

Sleeps 3-5 (comfortably,) nestled in the pines of Moonridge this cabin features an open floor plan with a large kitchen; Dinning area, Living / family area / 1080p HD 'SMART' TV in living room, High Speed WIFI Internet connectivity / Laundry room / Game Room loaded with board games, foosball, and books to read.

One large fireplace style wood burning stove in the Living area. Brand new wood burning stove in the master bedroom.

New lighting, floors & carpets throughout.

Outside a large deck in front with swing, BBQ, and seating area to entertain. Spacious ~fully fenced~ back yard with play area for children. Newly built deck in backyard for added relaxation space.

propane BBQ for cooking outside.

Kitchen: Most vacation rental companies call kitchens 'stocked' by just supplying pots, pans and plates... That is not what we mean...

Our stocked kitchen is stocked with all amenities you need in a kitchen. Including appliances for baking, salad spinning, mixing, you name it. There are spices and some condiments you can use if you want. Complimentary coffee.

There is a trust factor with the games, DVD's. We know you will treat our house just like you'd treat your own. We have children's size snow suits, ski's, boots, sleds, and tubes anyone can use. 'Mi Casa es Su Casa!' And, you'll keep coming back! Tell your friends and family! We love to share our cabin!

Parking ~~Advisement~~

......If you drive any low-riding type car, it takes some "finesse" to park in the spot in front of our house. You just pull diagonally up the berm and slide in. Over-shoot a little, and then back up. The neighbor across the street has a pad as well, and if you ask him nice, he may allow you to part there as well. In the snow it is required to park off-street.

About John and Marilyn Bacon

We are the Bacon's. John, Marilyn, and Joey. We have many pets. 2 dogs, Rusty and Rico; a couple of turtles, a bearded dragon, and a horse 'Kobe'. We are a middle class family very laid back and friendly. Please call us with any questions or concerns about our cabin.

We live in the South Bay area of Southern California.

We love the outdoors, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, horseback riding, and swimming.

John and Marilyn Bacon purchased this cabin in 2012

Why John and Marilyn Bacon chose Moonridge

We purchased our cabin in honor of our beloved father, John W. Bacon (1927-2009,) who would always rent a cabin for us to get together for family reunions. This cabin doesn't hold a lot of people, but it is great for our small family. When our extened family comes around, we have freinds who own cabins nearby so we can all be close.

We purchased this property because we loved the floorplan and proximity to Bear Mountain, Snow Summit and all the local ammenities. It was a fixer-upper and we have done a lot of upgrading to the cabin already. When we bought it, originally, it was all carpeted with ~ugly~ old carpeting. Every room a different color and style. Even the kitchen and bathroom were carpeted. 'Quirky!' Now we installed some new carpeting and appropriately, floors where they should be. The lighting fixtures were 'original' from the 60's, so we had to replace those as well. We also did some structural work on the house. More to come!

What makes this cabin unique

We are in a good neighborhood, and close to EVERYTHING! But, you feel you are still in the rural mountains. Whether it is walking, riding our bikes, driving (and even easy access to the bus;) it's only a short trip. We love being close to the golf course and the Town trail is very close to start a nice hike. Also, most of our neighbors are FANTASTIC!

The open floor-plan was especially desirable to us because we could be cooking in the kitchen, playing games in the game room, watching TV in the family room, or just hanging out by the fireplace; all of us can still be together in essentially the same room!

We also fell in love with the curb appeal and charm of our front deck.

We love our big-little 'Bacon-Paradise!'

We have a fun YouTube Video of last year's Winter break:

This gives you a layout in video form of our 'paradise' but flooring upgrades had been done after the video was taken.

Also, new for 2014----FOOSBALL!!!!

Quiet location, nice neighborhood.

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful spot to relax and enjoy beautiful Big Bear.

Great directions to the cabin--and very helpful sheets provided by the Bacons as to directions, favorite eating places and things to do. Cabin was well-maintained, clean and cozy.

We tried Pong's Restaurant nearby and really enjoyed it. Loved the Woodland Trail and walking by the lake and backroad driving.

Wonderful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very welcoming and comfortable. It was like staying at an uncle and aunt's home. Everything was clean and we had all that we needed. It was quiet and relaxing. So much better than staying in a hotel, especially with two young children. We would definitely stay here again!

Amazing!!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the "bacon paradise" was very relaxing and comfy! The cabin was more than enough room and have a great flow with the floor plan. We really felt like it was our little home for the weekend, with a full kitchen to make a nice dinner and toys for the baby to play with, there was nothing we went without. We would definitely stay here again! John and his wife went above and beyond with their welcoming home!

Great getaway spot!

  • 5 of 5

Just a quick little 2 day getaway for 2 overworked people. Good location, nice size property. Loved the swing seat on the front porch just to relax and de-stress. For the money, it was awesome. Loved the foosball table too. Although we did not use any of it, the place is stocked with pots, pans, plates, silverware etc. Full size washer/dryer.

Had a great stay and look forward to staying there again.

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

I surprised my boyfriend with this cabin for his birthday, it was perfect and he loved it. We sat by the fire almost every night watching movies and enjoying the getaway. This place is small but perfect if you plan on just relaxing and being outdoors. I cooked him breakfast and had all the dishes I needed and thank goodness they had a dishwasher to help with the cleanup. We had to get Pam because there's was empty, we got paper towels because we couldn't find any. Perfect location to the slopes, not far from the village and good dining. I would definitely rent this property again!

Great location but the owner did not supply toilet paper, paper towels we only had 1/2 roll of toilet paper for 5 people. We should have been told we

needed to bring our own,the pot belly stove in the master bedroom was unusable due to the chimney pipe being detached from the stove, the owners

stated it was use able and it was very cold in that room there was one portable electric heater that was adequate after running it for hours the room finally

felt a little warmer. The owner said there were two portable electric heaters we could only find one.The heaters in the main area worked fine. The day bed

in the living room was filthy I would not even sit on it.I have rented VRBO many times internationally and here at home and have better experiences and

we did not have to supply our own tp,etc.with that said we had fun at Big Bear. Will not rent this place again due to the existing issues.

Owner's Response: We are very sorry to hear your negative experience at our cabin. We wish we had heard about the issues you had while you were there and we would have had the items fixed immediately. This is a cabin in the mountains and there are maintaince issues that happen. We provided you our contact information and our local Housecleaner who was available 24/7 but we didn't hear from you. The cabin is normally cleaned and in good working order. We have had back to back bookings all winter and the cleaning service must have overlooked supplies for your stay. We will fix the other items you mentioned. Again, we are very sorry for your negative experience.
