About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom close to town and trails

Award-winning views of Kachemak Bay from Seldovia to Grewingk glacier. Wrap-around decks add outdoor living space to this 2 1/2 story custom Homer home. Get home from your fishing expedition and BBQ the catch on a gas BBQ and eat dinner by the outdoor fire-pit while watching a beautiful Alaskan sunset. Walking distance to the famous Bear Creek Winery, tennis courts, and live music at a local favorite, the Downeast Saloon.

Bear Creek Getaway is located at the end of a quiet neighborhood drive on its own private acre of land. Enjoy beautifully landscaped gardens and front and back yard all overlooking the famous Homer Spit. Because you are only 2.5 miles from downtown Homer, it is a short drive to shops, restaurants, and hiking trails. Take Kachemak Drive for an even quicker commute to the end of the spit (less than 10 minutes) to meet with charters, whale watching, and tours.

The house amenities include Directv throughout, flat screens in each of the three bedrooms, washer and dryer, gourmet kitchen (with all the fixins), wi-fi, outdoor gas BBQ, and a selection of movies, books, and games for those liquid sunshine Alaska summer days.

Wake up in a luxurious king size bed in the master suite with your own bathroom, closet, and breathtaking views of the bay. Main floor bedroom and downstairs bedroom both have queen size beds with flat screen tv's and share a bathroom. A full size couch converts into a queensize bed on the mainfloor.

Families, friends, pets; everyone is welcome at this centrally located, beautifully crafted home in Homer, the Halibut Capital of the World.

About Natalia

I am 32, and a Homer local born and raised. I grew up commercial fishing for my uncle and my grandfather on a commercial long-liner for Halibut and Black Cod until I reached the age of 19 and got my 100 ton captain's license. From there I ran just about every kind of work boat you can imagine from water taxi's in Kachemak Bay (ask me any questions about the bay hot-spots, I know them all!) to landing crafts in Anacortes, WA to SCUBA and snorkel boats in the Florida Keys and Caribbean. I now work on the North Slope as an oilfield (sellout) hand (what can I say I like the schedule!), and I still reside on the Kenai Peninsula. I have a small boat in Homer, and I'm still a die hard fisherman (for sport these days). I have a german shepherd dog who goes everywhere with me and I love the Alaskan outdoors and all they have offer.

Natalia purchased this house in 2009

Why Natalia chose Kenai Peninsula

I bought this property because it had the exact combination of things I was looking for in a home: view, location, privacy, and all the creature comforts of a home. All of the things I hope you enjoy during your stay.

What makes this house unique

I fell in love with this house because of its gardens, view, outdoor living space, and the beautiful architecture throughout. It has character.

Known as the halibut capital of the world, Homer rests on the bank of Kachemak Bay, a sheltered arm of lower Cook Inlet, and is easily accessible by land, air or sea. Once here, visitors will find snowcapped mountains reaching thousands of feet into the sky with glaciers winding their way to the ocean below. Salmon and trout swim in the crystal waters while eagles and seabirds search for food along the miles of beaches. All of these facets come together in the surrounding area to create a miniature vision of Alaska's grandeur.

From fresh and saltwater fishing to charters and wilderness lodges, visitors will find that Homer has a surprising array of activities to offer. Art festivals, sport fishing adventures, hiking and sightseeing are just a few of the exciting things to do while visiting. Homer also offers a variety of eating and lodging options that can cater to anyone's needs.

For the adventurous type, Homer places many trails, fishing spots and charters at your disposal. Follow a trail up a mountainside for a stunning view of glaciers and wildlife, or take a sea-kayak trip across beautiful Kachemak Bay to find your own special hidden spot. The Alaska experience is yours to enjoy in Homer's backyard. For those seeking a more relaxed experience, browsing around town and looking for an Alaska gift for someone back home can be an adventure in itself. Whatever your pleasure, there is no end to the enjoyment waiting for you.

Great Property, No Water

  • 1 of 5

Arriving to the property in Homer, our group was really excited, as the property was fantastic all the way around. The views, the house, everything. However, later in the first night we ran out of hot water. It was addressed the following day, but was not the greatest as half our group only had the option to take freezing cold showers. Later that same night, we completely ran out of water for the entire house. By this I mean there was no water available for anything, period. No shower, toilet, faucet, anything. Turned out the water is stored on-site and the reasoning for running out was that the previous guests used more than they expected.

While the property itself was really great, not having water on site reduced it to a very overpriced primitive campsite. The following morning we packed up and left immediately, so we could use a bathroom. I love to camp, but when you pay to have facilities, you would expect to have them available.

To the credit of the property manager, she did apologize and we were compensated for the major issues.

Otherwise, Homer is a great place. This property is really nice. But if they can't supply water, I would stay anywhere else.

Our stay at Bear Creek Getaway in Homer, Alaska

  • 5 of 5

This home was awesome! My family traveled to Homer, Alaska for a family wedding. The home was warm and comfortable and the views over the Kachemak Bay were awesome. Bear Creek Getaway had many niceties ..... Kuerig coffee pot, a large refrigerator and freezer (for the fish we caught), cooking utensils, dishes and pots and pans, a barbeque grill on a beautiful deck with a hot tub on the deck. All the comforts of home!!

Wonderful home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay in Homer. The house had everything we needed and made our stay in Homer more relaxing. Very kid and pet friendly. Spacious and plenty of privacy. We had no problems and no complaints with our stay. From the very beginning when I first booked our reservations they were helpful and friendly with my many questions and adjustments. I will gladly refer people to this house and will book it again for our family when we go to Homer again! The views are amazing, beautifully decorated house, plenty of storage spaces for all the fishing gear we brought with us. And every convience of home with 2 kids along to make it easier at the end of the day from fishing. Loved it! Thank you for being so flexible.
