Decent house but not exactly as described.
Overall the house is nice enough. The layout is a tad weird with both bathrooms being in the bedrooms and no external bathroom. Seems more set up for couples than for families. The distance to beach access is much further than they describe. “Stroll along quiet neighborhood streets, just 8 houses down to beach access when you book this Lincoln City vacation rental! ” I think we counted 17 houses down to the beach access. You can check the map on the vrbo site and it shows basically the same. When you look at the photos on the site you see a street going towards the coast that you might assume is the beach access but that is a dead end so you have to walk the other direction quite a way to get to the beach. I am not sure why they advertise 8 houses down when that clearly isn’t true.
The garage doors are also very narrow. We have a Ford Expedition and hand to fold the mirrors back to get through. If you have a larger vehicle you may not be able to make use of the garage.
Overall the house was decent just feel like it is a bit misrepresented as far as location which bothers me. Beach access is more like 17 houses down and then 3 flights of stairs so don’t expect to be right at the beach.
Fun summer weekend getaway!
Overall the house worked well for us. There were a few downsides, but overall is was great. The 2 bathrooms were located in the two bedrooms, so you couldn’t use a bathroom unless going through the bedrooms. Would have been nice to have one bathroom separate from the bedroom. The house also had a bit of a musty smell to it....I think there was water damage at one time. There were a few stains here and there on carpet and furniture, but that just comes with wear. I did find an insulin needle on the floor in the room my two little girls were sleeping. Fortunately I found it and not them, but that made me a little uneasy.
The two decks were great and we loved the lounge chairs. The kitchen had everything we needed and it was nice to have a BBQ to use. It was a short walk to the beach which was great and I loved how close it was to Siltz Bay too. We had a nice stay there, minus the few things listed above. The owner responded quickly to emails and was very pleasant.
Jean, thank you for your review. This homeowner has asked us to pass along the following message:
Thank you for staying at Playa Del Happy. I know there are many options and happy you found the place to your liking. I’d like to respond to a few of your concerns. Most noted the insulin needle. That was definitely unfortunate, the prior guest left this and housekeeping did not see it. I have added on my Welcome Letter to please take all BioHazard waste with you as my housekeeping should not be handling those items. Of course, in this case, I was concerned it was overlooked and not attended to. I don’t expect this to happen again. In reference to the stains, those were cleaned up immediately upon my inspection the next week. Very rarely do we find extra housekeeping issues such as these. My sincerest apologies for this. Lastly the musty smell. That was my error. I put mothballs under the home a few years from being told it keeps Raccoons away. You were smelling the after effects of this. Since that time, I’ve put charcoal under the house and used special natural enzyme products specific to taking that smell out. There are no water leaks in the home that could present dangerous allergies to anyone. Thank you again. Susan/Owner"
