Make this awesome private cottage your “home away from home” in downtown Missoula! It is located just one block off of North Higgins Avenue near the Iron Horse Bar & Grill and Worden’s Market & Deli.
We are proud to be able to offer this historic cottage and PRIME location. It has privacy with a neighborhood feel even though it is just a few steps from the center of downtown. Why stay in a 200 sq. ft. hotel room when you can enjoy outdoor decks with a nice lawn, a spacious kitchen, washer & dryer, and off-street parking?
This one-bedroom cottage is clean, cozy, and inviting. It has a great floor plan and lots of big windows. If you love natural light, then this is the place for you! We have it set up with the traveler in mind – fully equipped with quality amenities and everything you will need including Wi-Fi and a Washer/Dryer.
Note: this cottage is in a quiet residential neighborhood on the edge of downtown. If you are looking for a place to host a party, please look elsewhere.
This cottage is best-suited for one or two adults. It can work for families travelling with children, but we recommend a maximum of two adults.

After you park your car, you can stroll to plentiful dining, entertainment, shopping and outdoor recreation opportunities. The University of Montana and St. Patricks Hospital are also within a short walking distance ... not to mention the museums, theaters, library, post office, river front trails, Carousel for Missoula, Osprey Stadium, Currents Indoor Water Park, and the list goes on.
Hungry or Thirsty? There are dozens of restaurants, several bakeries, two bagel shops, four pizza joints, eight coffee shops, four microbreweries, three distilleries, and two wine bars within several blocks of this cottage. Sweet Peaks homemade ice cream shop is just around the corner and the famous Big Dipper ice cream is just on the other side of the river.
The Clark Fork River, which is famous for trout fishing, tubing, and rafting, is just a few blocks to the south. In addition, there are dozens of miles of premier hiking and biking trails close by. Several of the trailheads and city parks are within walking distance as well.
The famous Missoula Farmer’s Market is literally outside the front door on Saturday Mornings and on Tuesday evenings (May-October).
The historic Northern Pacific Railroad Depot is one block north of the cottage (see photos and map). Please be aware that there is train activity on these tracks.
The Peak Health & Wellness Center is directly across the street. Guests can purchase a week-long pass at the Peak for $25.00 or a day pass for $10.00. Also, within the Peak, there is a Child Care Center (open 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.) If you have immunization records for your child (age 6 weeks to 7 years) - you can use their 'drop-off' service.
More Details about the cottage:
One of our favorite features of this cottage is the big tall windows in every room, especially the bay windows in both the dining area and the living room. These windows were newly installed in 2013 with blinds.
Heating & Cooling: There is a programmable thermostat and gas furnace for heating and a window air conditioning unit available for the few weeks that it is needed during the summer.
Outside: There are decks on both the north side and the south side of the house, so, you can pick sun or shade and enjoy the quality outdoor seating. During the growing season, there flower pots and the lawn is lush and green thanks to the automatic irrigation system. There are several big shade trees that help to keep the cottage cool and more private during the summer months.
There in an antique fence and gate across the front of the lot and there is plenty of room to park two cars in the driveway. There is also a large storage shed (available upon request) to secure your bikes, gear, skis or toys.
Living Room: The front door opens off of the north deck into the living room where you will find comfortable seating, a large flat screen television with DVD, and an electric fireplace that can be used with or without heat. If you are travelling with kids, the leather futon easily converts to a queen sleeper (linens and bedding provided).
Dining Room: There is a large counter-height pub table with four chairs next to huge south facing bay windows – a great place for morning coffee. This room is where you will find a built-in bookshelf (with several books about Missoula and Montana) and a closet full of games. On the other side of the dining room we provide up-to-date local information, maps, menu’s, event schedules, etc.
Bedroom: There is one small bedroom (just off the dining room) with a quality queen bed, two beside tables, a small closet, and a “hall tree” cabinet which provides a convenient platform for luggage. The closet is stocked with hangers and extra blankets and bedding.
Kitchen: The kitchen is big and well-equipped with everything you will need including: quality flatware, dishes, glassware, wine glasses, pots and pans, Tupper ware, cooking utensils, mixing bowls, measuring cups, cutting boards, cutlery, etc. There is a electric cook top/ microwave drawer combo, a countertop convection/toaster oven and several small appliances (blender, crock pot, coffee pot, electric tea pot). You will also find supplies such as: coffee, paper towels, dish soap, napkins, spices, sugar, garbage bags, tape, scissors, pens, etc. The kitchen DOES NOT have a dishwasher or a full-size oven. The door to the south deck and driveway is in the kitchen.
Bathroom: The bathroom is tiled and it features an old fashioned claw-foot tub with a nice shower. Since every room in this cottage has at least one big window, so too does the bathroom, but the window shades and shower curtains provide all the privacy that you will need. Just like a hotel, we provide soap, shampoo & conditioner and a blow dryer. We also have emergency supplies available in the medicine cabinet in case you forget something.
Utility Room: The utility room has a washer and dryer behind bi-fold closet doors. The shelf above the washer and dryer has labeled baskets with extra towels, other supplies, and toys for kids.

Location, location, location! This is a great little house in the heart of downtown Missoula. It is just one block off of North Higgins Avenue (the heart of downtown Missoula). Enjoy the use of off-street parking and walk everywhere. Easy access to a selection of quality restaurants, breweries, wine bars, bakeries, coffeehouses, specialty shops, the University of Montana and the Griz Stadium, the Missoula Art Museum; the Missoula Public Library; St. Pat's Hospital; the Community Theater; the Clark Fork River Front, Greenough Park; MOBASH (a free, outdoor, lighted, concrete skatepark); CURRENTS (an indoor aquatic center), The Carousel for Missoula, Dragon Hollow (a children's play structure/park) and Brennan's wave - a freestyle kayaking 'wave'.
The renowned Missoula Farmer's Market is just outside the front door every Saturday Morning (May-October) and the brand new Peak Health and Wellness Facility is across the street.
Missoula offers a variety of recreational opportunities with a variety of rivers to float and trails to hike. The Rattlesnake Wilderness and Snowbowl Ski area are just a few miles away. There are plenty of golf courses and mountain biking trails too.
Travelling with kids or just someone who is young at heart? There is so much for them to do and see within walking distance of the cottage. Here is a sample: You can start right outside the front door at the Northern Pacific Railroad Depot where they have a beautiful old steam locomotive and other equipment on display. Afterward, you can stop at the Sweet Peaks ice cream shop (just around the corner) on your way to the Missoula Art Museum followed and/or the SpectrUM hands-on science museum. From there you may want to stop by the Missoula Public Library to enjoy their fantastic facilities for kids before you stroll another few blocks down to the river trail where you can watch the kayakers at Brennan's wave. When you finish there, you will want to check out the famous Carousel for Missoula and the wonderful Dragon Hollow playground! Afterward, you can grab a meal at any number of nearby restaurants before you decide if you want to go on to the Missoula Children's Museum or perhaps the Mobash skate park, or the Currents indoor water park. Still have energy to burn? Make sure to hike up to the 'M' on Mount Sentinel or the 'L' on Mount Jumbo. Of course, during nice weather you can rent bikes or tubes from the Army Navy store (also just around the corner from the cottage) and float down the Clark Fork or bike next to the river for miles on the adjacent paved river trail. All of this and so much more is within walking distance of the cottage. If you still have energy at night, you can take in a movie, a play, or another event at any number of nearby venues including: the Wilma Theater, Missoula Community Theater (MCT), the Roxy Theater, the Crystal Theater or any of several venues just across the river at the University of Montana. All of the above mentioned kid-friendly ideas are within walking distance of the cottage. Kids of all ages (including adult kids) could be entertained for days.
