About Bee

Former college dean and professor of french literature enjoying my retirement in the Berkshires.

Bee purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Bee chose Housatonic

This house was designed by my architect son, Stephen Dietemann.

What makes this apartment unique

Situated amongst cathedral pines and massive boulders, this apartment is unique, comfortable and contemporary and overlooks the Housatonic River.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Peg,

Thank you so much for another wonderful two weeks in the Rock Garden apartment. We had a great time with 324 Park as our home base.

Some housekeeping notes:

1. Dirty towels are on the bathroom floor. We did not strip the bed.

2. Garbage is in the kitchen, recycling on the counter by the microwave.

3. We broke the medium sized serving bowl. Have left $20 in the kitchen for replacement, which I hope is more than enough. If not, please let us know. Bee has the contact info.

4. Running the dishwasher as we leave.

5. Left some perishables in the refrigerator-eggs, organic mayo, etc. Please take what you can use and do "whatever" with the rest.

Again, thank you. Hoping to see you again next summer.

Perfect Berkshire Base!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay! The owner met us on arrival and was available to us at all times although we had no problems. The house is architecturally designed and very interesting. All the rooms are filled with sunlight and there are expansive views; huge windows and skylights. It's a great house in a beautiful setting.

The location is absolutely perfect. There are extraordinary restaurants in nearby Great Barrington plus the Brickhouse Pub is just down the road. The Berkshire Mountain Bakery, the bread bakery that the New York Times has raved about is less than a quarter mile away. Stockbridge and the Norman Rockwell Museum and Lenox and Tanglewood are a very easy drive north.

Thank you! We loved our visit!

A Special Place!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for an affordable, clean, cozy place in a convenient location and we hit the jackpot with this special apartment! My family of 4, including our two girls (3 and 7) loved staying in this immaculate, cozy and comfortable apartment. Bee was a pleasure to deal with and very responsive. And it was a treat to meet Peg, our kind and gracious hostess!

We found it very convenient to hikes and sites nearby, and fell in love with both Berkshire Mountain Bakery (chocolate bread!) and Pleasant and Main (enjoyed both breakfast and dinner there), both a short 2 min drive away. We definitely plan to return so we can explore the many spots we didn't get to this time around!

great hosts and apartment

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in Feb to go skiing at Butternut and Catamount, and it was perfect for that; 10 min to Butternut and a little further to Catamount. The apartment was exactly as it seems: clean, light, well-maintained. Bee and her mother-in-law Peg are lovely to deal with and responsive. We definitely plan to come back in the winter and probably the summer as well!

Excellent apartment

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I stayed at this beautiful, clean apartment in the winter. The location on the Housatonic winter was perfect for us. It was conveniently located within a few minutes from Great Barrington and also close to Ski Butternut where we went tubing and skiing. There was plenty of natural light in the unit and we were even able to check in early- allowing us for almost an additional day at the property. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this rental to my friends and family.

Great/cozy apartment conveniently located in the Berkshires!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed at this gem for a 3-day getaway from noisy NYC. The apartment is exactly as it is marketed! Clean, cozy, quiet, lots of natural sunlight and great view of the Housatonic River (in the winter). Minutes away from Great Barrington and Stockbridge, the location is convenient to ALL areas in the Berkshires. Peg is so sweet! She kindly greeted us when we arrived and informed us of everything we need to know -- making the apartment truly feel like our home-away-from-home. Would definitely recommend staying here!
