About Patrick McGuire
Hello, we are Patrick and Roxy McGuire. We live in the Hayward lakes area at a resort that Patrick manages. We have owned our Barber Lake home for ten years and when it is not being rented we use it as a retreat for our family and friends, including our five daughters and five grandchildren.
Patrick McGuire purchased this House in 2004
Why Patrick McGuire chose Winter
We spent two years searching for the perfect lake home while living near the Twin Cities. We focused on an large area, all the way from Alexandra, MN to Park Falls, WI. When we found the Winter/Hayward area we knew that we had found our spot. Quiet, but not to quiet, small, but not to small, close to Minneapolis, Madison, etc, but not to close. We love it and so will you. We take care of the property personally and will do our best to see that you have a memorable vacation experience.
What makes this House unique
Our unique property is great for a large family, with lots of room to breathe but also wonderful for small groups who enjoy the peace and quiet. The Yellow Bird is comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated. Our home is situated on South Barber Lake which is very private and calm with wonderful sunsets. If you crave a little more action, hop over to Barber lake via the channel for more room to explore.

Older ranch house. Large bedrooms, living, kitchen, dining. Just three of us so only one bathroom wasn't an issue for us. Comfortable beds. Good linens. Kitchen well stocked.
Water was from a well and was cloudy but recently tested as safe (owner had furnished written test results). Apparently the house gets little use in fall and winter, so an aesthetic issue not a safety one.
Owner was readily available by phone. Easy in and out.
No Wi-Fi or TV- either cable or off air.
Owner had plowed snow away before our arrival (several inches the night before we arrived).
In short, no issues.
Satisfactory but could use some TLC
Had all the necessities and beds were comfortable
This property worked out very well for our Girls Weekend! We loved the view, and the space it offered. We had a few questions, and it was no problem reaching the owner.
Judy, We thank you for your comments and hope to have you and the girls stay with us again. Pat and Roxy
excellent place for families
Pat and Roxy thank you so much for the wonderful stay at your cabin my family and I had a wonderful time. The place was very clean and a perfect fit for our family of six along with my parents. Everyone had plenty of room. It was a blast catching walleye, northern, and a musky right from the dock. Also loved watching the sunsets next to the fire. A truly beautiful place. We already look forward to coming back next summer. Sincerely -Rob and family
Rob, We are so glad your family had a great vacation. It was a pleasure meeting you and we where very impressed with your group.
Thanks, Pat and Roxy
Great place to stay
Stayed for 4 nights with my family- 7 adults and a 14 month old. Cabin home was clean and well stocked. The beds were super comfy. We had fun fishing, canoeing, swimming, and had a bon fire. There were a number of mosquitoes at night but nothing a little bug spray can't fix. We had supper outside and watched the sunset on the porch most nights. Quiet and peaceful place. We had a pleasant stay!
A very nice home on a beautiful lake.
My family and I had a great time at this wonderful lake house. Everything we needed was there, from a great deck with an overhead roof to protect from sun and rain to very comfortable, roomy, and tastefully decorated rooms inside (with all the provisions). The beautiful sunsets, gently sloping beach perfect for kids, and roomy yard all made for a great vacation. Very enjoyable!
We enjoyed having your group and hope to see you again.
