My wife and I built this place to raise a family in a safe and nurturing environment. After raising our two kids here we moved to Carbondale, CO in 2010 so the children could attend a private high school there.
The greatest benefit of this property is the privacy and the scenic views. This is perfect for a relaxing get-away with close-by gold medal fishing, hiking and wine-tasting at the surrounding wineries.
We enjoyed our stay, the house is very nice and located in a quiet country setting. We would not hesitate in staying there again.
Our family of 6 stayed at the Hacienda last weekend and a friend and her 2 kids joined us as well. PLENTY of room for all and never felt crowded. The layout and location are funky cool, very secluded up in the hills outside of Hotchkiss. We loved how homey the Hacienda was, felt at home as soon as we got there. The outside areas are awesome, great grass yard, fire pit and gorgeous view. We spent some time in the area visiting local farms, apple picking and the Black Canyon, all of it was a very short drive but felt like we were far removed from everything at the Hacienda. Also, my wife and I are both chefs and found the kitchen a joy to work in, from the beautiful AGA stove to all of the copper and cast iron pans to cook with (bring sharp knives if that's important to you!), everything was covered! Thanks Jeff, we look forward to another retreat in your Hacienda in the future!
We all (8 of us) had a fabulous time here. The house is very unique and welcoming, well furnished, and comfortable. I would say it sleeps 8 comfortably, an extra two people would not work well.
Located outside Hotchkiss in the hills, the views are gorgeous and the grounds lovely. It's well equipped kitchen was a delight to us, as well as
the grill and fire pit. We all had a fabulous time there and would recommend it to anyone! The owner is very responsive as well as the caretakers located on the property in a separate dwelling.
We loved our stay here, all too short but sweet. The location on the hillside above town provides privacy, quiet, and scenery. Far from city lights, the nights were brilliant. The house is well-furnished, with a very nice kitchen and dining room. Early to mid fall must be the best time of the year here, with lots of produce available and great colors in the woods. We took advantage of a couple local hiking options and the weather cooperated nicely. We'd definitely consider staying here again.
Peaches, books, and a panoramic vista combined with the quiet of the location provided a great vacation. We arrived to half a dozen peach trees demanding their succulent fruit be consumed (we asked first). The weather was optimal: cool mornings warming till the afternoon thunderstorms brought the temperature back down with light shows. The hacienda was more than we needed, both in size and accommodation, but we made due, easily. And the books. It was a great surprise to find a collection that so matched our own in its eclectic titles. If you are looking for the spot to sit, read, drink and enjoy a great vista, it is here.

The property was easy to find with GPS. The home is spacious and has lots of character and charm. We loved gathering on the back patio, in the spacious kitchen, and in the family/dining room as a large family. Furnishings and decor are extra comfy and the family photo gallery on the master bedroom stairway was enchanting. The bathrooms had plenty of room and hot water for our family of 8. The view from the yard is lovely, overlooking mesas and valleys in the Hotchkiss area. We would highly recommend a stay on this property and know we will return.
