Very large and open condo space....
We enjoyed this condo unit very much and it has a lot to offer. The only issue at all that we would share is the beds are not very comfortable in each bedroom nor does each room have a working TV. I know you don't come to the beach to watch TV in your bedroom but it's nice to relax after a long day in a comfortable bed watching TV and this condo didn't offer that. All other things were great and wonderful.
Thanks for your comments. As you know the condo had been under extensive renovations prior to your arrival, and we offered to move you to another building. It's unfortunate that 2 of the 4 TVs were not working during your stay, as the cable boxes had been misplaced during the move. Of course the boxes have been located, and all are working now. All the mattresses are only a year old and are good quality. We've not had a complaint about any of them before or after your stay. We do hope that you'll come back again now that everything is in good working order.
Didn't Want to Leave
I have been coming to Engelwood Beach for the past 10 years and have stayed at Barefoot Beach the last 3 visits. This was our first year to stay in this unit and we absolutely LOVED it!! My family of 11 was able to stay in 2 units side by side and loved waking up to the view and being able to go sit out and watch the dolphins while drinking coffee/eating breakfast. I love how the condo is within a comfortable walking distance to the circle where you have access to a convenience store, several gift shops, and a variety of restaurants. We love Flounders, Lock 'N Key, and Gulf View Grill. Flounders has great live music and a great beach and bay view. We also love Karaoke at White Elephant on Sundays/Wednesdays. It's just a short drive into town to get to larger grocery stores/shops/restaurants...we love Farlow's on the bay and usually make our way to A Better Scoop Ice Cream Shop : ) If you're into antiquing and shopping there's plenty for you, but we come to lay on the beach so we don't venture out much during the day! Another bonus with this barefoot beach unit is the garage storage that has chairs, beach toys, etc. We love being able to come and not have to buy all new stuff since we fly and can't bring it all with us. Since we are repeat visitors it's also nice to know that if we do end up buying something and leaving it that it is going to be available for other families to use and not disposed of!
This year was a record year for us for viewing wildlife!! We saw Dolphin every morning and several throughout the day, we saw small sting rays up near the beach and large sting rays jumping out of the ocean further out...we saw baby sharks, had several manatee come pretty close to our group, saw 2 sea horse, and quite a few jelly fish (but they left us alone...we didn't see tentacles on them so not sure they were a stinging variety...didn't test that out : ). We could hardly take a step out in the water without stepping on a Sand Dollar!!! They were all alive so had to put them back but walking down into Stump Pass Park we found some white ones (these are dead) we could keep. Finally, on our last morning on the beach we actually found an Octopus!!! It was a tiny little thing living inside a shell we picked up and came crawling out : )
Amazing experience and highly recommend everyone try this beautiful beach out and this condo was more than satisfying/comfortable for my family.
Many thanks for taking the time to share your wonderful feedback regarding your stay at our Barefoot Beach condo. It was our extreme pleasure to welcome you to our condo and we are pleased to know that you and your family had such a lovely time here and enjoyed the surrounding restaurants, quaint boutiques and ambiance of the area. We are so glad that the memories you created here left you with the desire to return for another visit. It would be our great pleasure to welcome you for another stay and hope to see you again.
If you are looking for the absolute perfect place to stay this is it! This condo is by far one of the nicest places we have ever stayed! Amazing views, very spacious, spotless, a well stocked kitchen and we had everything we needed. There is also a caged in area in the garage that is full of beach supplies so you don't have to bring them along with you. The entire time we were there we had the pool and beach to ourselves. Mary and Jean were both super nice to rent from and we can not wait to stay again!
I highly recommend this apartment. Very clean and comfortable. Beautiful view. Love it. We are planning to come back next summer.
Manasota Key is a barrier island that stretches for 10 miles along the coastline of Southwest Florida. Our unspoiled beaches are known for clear water, great shelling, and spectacular sunsets. Additionally, this area offers a wide range of recreational activities, including excellent game fishing, power boating, jet-skiing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and sailing. Numerous golf courses and tennis clubs are a short drive away. Enjoy any of the 4 public beaches on the key, and you'll be sure to return year after year. Explore the beauty of Stump Pass Park, nestled between Lemon Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, on the south end of Manasota Key. Nature trails afford glimpses of gopher tortoises, bald eagles & osprey, while sightings of dolphins & manatees are common in the surf. It's a perfect spot from which to launch your kayak and explore Lemon Bay. Minutes from Englewood, south of the Cape Haze peninsula cross the bridge to Gasparilla Island to visit the Boca Grande Lighthouse built in 1890. Cayo Costa State Park, located directly south of Boca Grande, is accessible only by boat and provides a stunning display of natural beauty, including aces of pine forests, oak palm hammocks & mangrove swamps. Classes and guided bird & butterfly walks are available. Several island restaurants provide a variety of food and live entertainment in a casual setting, and many outstanding restaurants are just a short drive away. Nearby attrations also include historic sites, museums, botanical gardens, art galleries, and play houses. Manasota Key is close proximity to several airports--just a 50 minute drive to the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, and 1.5 hours to either Tampa or Ft. Myers. Orlando attractions are 2.5 hours away.
