About Sandy Gerlach

We are a family of 6 with 2 dogs. Grew up spending summers on Strawberry Lake and loved it so much we bought a place of our own.

Sandy Gerlach purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Sandy Gerlach chose Southeast

This property is beautiful being one of only 2 lots with double frontage on Bobwhite Beach. Bobwhite Beach is on the East side of the lake which is the best for the sunset views. It is a great location because it is in close proximity to our home. Being between Ann Arbor and Brighton, we love to attend the Ann Arbor Art fair each year as well as the many local festivals. We love being on the chain of lakes to take a 3-4 hour boat tour up river, or heading over to Zukey Lake Tavern for dinner by boat. Great sandy bottom for swimming. Wonderful fishing right off the end of the dock!

What makes this cabin unique

Staying in this quaint log cabin reminds us of the peaceful slow pace, and lazy summer days that people have enjoyed for the past 80 years. Sitting around he big stone fireplace, relaxing on the porch and playing games at the table are some of our favorite memory spots.

Great stay - taking in the Fall colors and UMIch Homecoming

  • 4 of 5

I rented the cabin to come up with friends to visit my son - who's going to UMich ~20 minutes away (and take in a football game). The cabin is exactly as advertised - and Sandy was prompt answering questions I had.

Will definitely consider renting this property again - during summer looks like it could be a lot of fun as well.

Great location, rustic cabin

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Strawberry Lake - it is truly a gorgeous property right on the lake. The kids and adults all enjoyed swimming in the lake, canoeing, and relaxing in the backyard. Unfortunately the cabin itself needs a lot of work. There is only one window unit air conditioner and a washing machine would have been very helpful. The clean dishes in cupboard were grimey and the ants were a problem. They could consider getting a dehumidifier to help deal with the mustiness, as well. The owners are very nice and stopped by to help address the iron in the well water. The bedroom and bathroom doors are very old and hard to close and lock. Overall a great week with family, but a bit more rustic than we were anticipating.

Just what was needed

  • 4 of 5

Owner was very helpful and easy to interface with. Cottage is more on the rustic side but with all amenities which fit nice with our vacation. Nice large great room for people to easily gather with impressive fireplace. Good lawn area to play outdoor games, and ample parking.

Everything we had hoped for

  • 4 of 5

Though the weather was a bit rainy and cold, the old log home was warm and cozy. The great room was a wonderful place to sit by the fire and play games.

Perfect for two gatherings of family and friends!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at this property in both September and October for events taking place in Ann Arbor. It was so much better than staying in a hotel! The first gathering included 6 family members with an additional 10 coming for lunch one of the days, with Sandy's approval. There were 3 young children who played outside during the lunch on the wonderful play gym. Adults gathered in the yard, relaxed in the swing, sat around the patio table. It was just great for accommodating all ages. The second gathering was a group of 4 friends from past years spent as roommates at Michigan. Again, we loved being able to sit around and visit, on the porch, at the kitchen table, in the dining and living rooms. It was just the place we needed, and I can only imagine what great fun it would be during the summer months! We so enjoyed watching the swans, the ducks and the sunsets. We do hope to return next year!
