About the property

Welcome to our beautiful cabin!

Well-equipped as a relaxing getaway, there is high-speed wireless internet and local cell service to help keep you connected if you choose. Spend time on our large deck, with part of it covered for enjoying a mountain rainstorm in the outdoors and part of it open for unrestricted access to the beautiful mountain skies. A fire pit awaits you as well, making a hot dog roast and s'mores just a few steps away.

For your entertainment needs we offer satellite television in our living room on a fantastic 55 inch LED TV, a Blu-Ray player, and access to Netflix, Hulu, and more. The master bedroom also has a TV with Blu-Ray and satellite. With 15Mb wireless internet, you can access your own entertainment from anywhere in the cabin or outside. If you need to slip into 'workation' mode, dial in from the deck and enjoy the brisk mountain air while doing it.

This three bedroom cabin has 1 king bedroom, a queen bedroom, and a kids room. The kids room has a bunk bed with two crib mattresses plus a queen. The cabin will comfortably accommodate 4-6 adults plus additional children. The dining room seats 6, but there is additional seating space on the deck and around the cabin.

The downstairs bath features a shower, the upstairs is a full bath with tub and shower. The kitchen is well-equipped with microwave, and coffee maker in addition to the standard kitchen appliances - if you get bored of using the kitchen to cook we have a gas grill outside. We have a washer and dryer as well for those longer stays, and all towels and linens are provided.

Top it all off with plenty of parking - 5 vehicles can comfortably park with the circular driveway, with pull-up access for a big pickup with a toy hauler.

If you are looking for a rental in the area then you probably already know about everything there is to do, but here are some of the nearby activities:

- 5 national parks just hours away (Bryce, Zion, Arches, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands)

- Too many state parks, national monuments, and other outdoor destinations to list.

- Mountain biking trails

- A major ski resort at Brian Head

- 600 miles of ATV/snowmobile trails with local rentals

- Several lakes and streams for fishing

- Caving, with several small caves in the immediate area

- Hiking

- Many incredible scenic drives

- Winter sports including snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, and sledding

We know you will love our cabin as much as we do!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wow, what a cabin! We have never had so much fun sledding, and having a big TV for the kids to gather around while drinking hot chocolate afterwards was perfect. We loved all the deck space to sprawl out on, and having the entire deck fenced off and gated (kid friendly!) really sets this cabin apart.

We look forward to our next visit!

Nice cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

Me and my family ENJOYED our stay here. We had more family staying in duck creek as well and their cabin was right around the corner so it worked out perfectly!! Cabin is cozy, cute and clean. The only thing there was cobwebs but no spiders, but other than that we had a great Father's Day weekend!!! Thank you James and Melissa.

FAIR

  • 3 of 5

To be fair this is a cabin. The reason for the 3 stars is this. No night stand or lamps in the bedroom. Very tight bathrooms. Low end fridge with no drawers in it. No closet in the downstairs bedroom. Not a single wine glass in the place or a corkscrew. Cookware is awful. Non-stick surfaces are all scratched up. The hill you have to climb to get up to this place is a monster. I'm just glad it didn't rain when we were there. If that is all okay with you then you will be fine. If you are expecting luxury then keep looking. Like I said it's a cabin...

Very nice getaway cabin!

  • 4 of 5

We rented this cabin for a spring break family getaway and we were very happy with the overall accommodations. Cabin is nicely decorated with rustic woodsey decor and fit our family of 5 perfectly. We did have a small issue with not having hot water the day we arrived but James was extremely fast to respond and helped get the problem fixed very quickly with good communication throughout the time the problem was reported to the next day when it was resolved. The cabin is just up the hill from Duck Creek Village so it was close enough to get out to the main roads pretty easily but far enough away that it really did feel like a true get away. Driveway had plenty of room for our truck, trailer, and ATV to each be parked separately so we didn't have to load it and unload it daily. The cabin was also surprisingly stocked with many kitchen items we weren't expecting like hot cocoa packets, paper plates, plastic ware, several rolls of paper towels, laundry detergent, and cleaning supplies so that was nice. Overall it was pretty clean, couch and carpets could probably be cleaned soon, there were some stains on their light colored surfaces. There were also some cobwebs hanging down the wood beam ceilings and curtains on the windows too but neither of those small things would prevent us from renting it again, it is the wilderness there's only so much cleaning that can be kept up. James mentioned we were the first guests since the cabin had been dewinterized so possibly those things were just overlooked when it was being prepared for a new year of stays. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and hopefully look forward to making it a yearly tradition!

Do NOT stay here! Worst experience ever- money-hungry owner who has no concern for guests

  • 1 of 5

Our stay at this cabin was memorable in all the wrong ways and we cut the trip short because of all of our challenges. James is the worst owner I’ve ever dealt with and he obviously makes renters get the traveler’s insurance because he wants to make false claims against his renters. All in all, do not rent this place. The night before our stay I received a call from the owner explaining that it snowed in the area.He asked if we had 4WD vehicles available to get up to the cabin to which I replied NO. The rental company my family used ran out of 4wd even though they had reserved one and since the owner had told us before that there hadn’t been Thanksgiving snow in the 15 years since he has been going to Duck Creek, we didn’t worry about it. That was totally false. What he failed to tell me before reserving and over the phone is that the road to the cabin off of the highway is unpaved dirt that does not get plowed unless there is a much larger amount of snow. I live in Utah and my family was joining me for a Thanksgiving get-a-way. My front-wheel drive manual transmission SUV has never failed me in any other mountains. I explained our vehicles to the owner and he said there should be no problem. It turns out, there were problems. My parents were the first to arrive in their rental van. They were able to get half way up the hill to the cabin and completely lost control of the van, crashed in to a huge boulder and went in to a ditch. Luckily, there were extremely helpful neighbors that passed by the van in the ditch and offered to help. The neighbor also offered to transport my parents up to the cabin. When I called James to explain what happened I asked if they had any other properties to switch this one because it was not looking good. He was unsympathetic and said I should try to get there anyways. I thought we could handle it for one night and I would get up there first thing the next morning, which was Thanksgiving. My car didn't make it either and the only good thing is that I didn't end up in a ditch. The snow turned to ice the night before. We left the cabin, it wasn't worth being isolated and stuck. When we called James after getting a new place and settling in it was 1.5 days after and he had the nerve to say that somehow the snow supposedly melted but at the same time the pipes froze and caused damages that we are responsible for. He blames us for being unprepared. He MISLED us and it trying to file a FRAUDULENT insurance claim against us.

Owner's Response: It can be difficult to address such a negative review in an unemotional, unbiased manner while still fairly representing the experience you can expect to have with us. Fortunately, there are several years worth of reviews that represent the hundreds of amazing guests who have loved the cabin and the level of service that we provide. Without going into a point-by-point rebuttal of all the inaccuracies and misrepresentations here, a few things are worth pointing out: 1) We are always very clear about the possibility of snow, and warn everybody about the importance of being adequately prepared. This guest is clear that we did so when she indicated that their car rental company had run out of the proper type of vehicle. 2) You can look up the historical snowfall and see that less than 3 inches fell during the week of Thanksgiving 2016 when this guest stayed. As indicated here, it wasn't even enough to be able to plow it. 3) If you are considering renting our cabin during the winter, it does snow at our altitude of nearly 10,000 feet, and everyone is advised to have a proper vehicle and other preparations. This applies to each and every cabin in the Duck Creek area. We are more than happy to provide recommendations and advice after many years of successfully guiding people to have a successful winter experience on the mountain - whether you stay with us or not! 4) We do not encourage or offer travelers insurance. It is provided by VRBO/Homeaway as part of the booking process, and we have zero control over whether it is offered, (and aren't able to even see if you purchase it). In all our years of booking, we have never had somebody who needed to use any type of insurance to cover something wrong with their stay. 5) We have always had wonderful guests, and have never had to file an insurance claim of any type as was stated here. We look forward to many more years of this in the future. In summary: yes, this is a mountain cabin, with the associated roads and winter weather. We openly make all this information available to you and send each guest recommendations and details about how to have a safe and successful stay. We urge you to read all the positive reviews that have been left over the years, and consider everything together when you are choosing where to stay. If you need additional information or details, or if we can help anybody at all to enjoy any part of the Duck Creek area, please reach out and let us know how we can help!
