This charming and simple rustic shingled cottage is located in the quiet Spring Point area of Chilmark along Vineyard Sound. A full size deck extends across the rear exterior of the house, providing a comfortable place to enjoy panoramic views of the Sound & the Elizabeth Islands - and the spectacular sunsets! The perfect place to slow down and relax: the house is a five minute walk to our beautiful rocky beach, and is set amid Spring Point's well-maintained dirt roads, with wooded trails that will delight walkers. Tennis courts are a ten minute walk away.
Airy, open concept interior design with hardwood floors and beamed ceilings. The main living spaces and master bedroom are on the first floor; a narrow spiral staircase will take you to two more bedrooms and a full bath on the second floor.

About Ann Rosoff
Throughout my childhood, my family spent part of each summer renting a house on the Vineyard. We kids took off our shoes at the beginning of each visit, and put them on again just before we left. We learned to swim, picked berries and made jam, went to the Chilmark Community Center's kids programs and movies, and discovered the best beaches. After several years of visiting and renting, my father fell in love with this spot. He built the house when my sisters and I were teenagers, and later spent much of his retirement years here looking out over the Elizabeth Islands and swimming in the Sound. We have all brought family and friends with us to enjoy the special beauty of this place and the warmth and serenity of this house. It has seen a generation of grandchildren, now nearly grown themselves, all of whom have climbed the trees, explored the beach, picked the blackberries and blueberries, and collected shells and rocks. We have scattered to different places, from California to New England to England - but the house, with its specialness, remains to be enjoyed.

Relaxing family vacation!
Classic Summer Cottage on the Beautiful North Shore of Chilmark
Perfect relaxing vacation
Thank you for our first review - I'm delighted that you enjoyed the house and the week you spent there!!
Location
The house is located up-island, off North Road in Spring Point just over 10 minutes from Menemsha, Beetlebung Corner, and Alley's General Store. The Spring Point area is a quiet, well-maintained rural association with winding dirt roads and walking paths. The Association maintains a private beach and two tennis courts as well. From the house, a 5-minute walk takes you to the beach, an unspoiled patchwork of sand and rocks perfect for exploring, walking, swimming or sitting. A 30 minute beach walk toward Menemsha will bring you past low bluffs with small deposits of clay, and eventually to the ruin of a 19th century brickyard. Get into your car, and in just over 10 minutes you can reach the fishing village of Menemsha, now home to shops and restaurants as well as the Coast Guard Station, fish markets, and a pier for fishing and pleasure boats. Climb out onto the jetty and bring some fishing gear or a picnic, or join the crowd any summer night at Menemsha Beach at sunset to applaud the sun as it disappears below the horizon. Heading toward Menemsha, take the Menemsha Crossroad toward Beetlebung Corner. At Beetlebung Corner you'll find the Chilmark Community Center with its childrens' activities and film series, Squibnocket and Lucy Vincent Beaches, and the shops at Beetlebung Corner itself. Or heading from Spring Point toward West Tisbury, you can visit the Polly Hill Arboretum, Alley's General Store, art galleries, flea markets and farmer's markets - all within a 10-15 minute drive.
