About Sue Thorpe

Paul and Sue, long time residents of Gig Harbor share their love of the water and this special property which has been in their family for three generations. They love to sail and now have the time to travel the world and yet always enjoy coming back home to one of the best places to live.

What makes this house unique

Your own shoreline, dock, kayaks, inflatable boat, fishing and crabbing equipment, plenty of beach chairs and ice chest for picnics are available. Fishing and crabbing from the float does not require a fishing license since it is a private dock.

This is a unique home depicting harbor life as it was in the times when fishermen dominated the village life.

Enjoy the harbor activity of the various boats, kayaks and water boarders from the comfort of the glass enclosed sunroom or on the deck. There is always something interesting happening in the harbor.

The public park activities, such as outdoor concerts, can be enjoyed from the comforts of this home. The park is situated directly across the harbor. The Tides Tavern is also just across the water and is accessible by kayaks or the inflatable boat.

Very lovely home and we greatly enjoyed our time there.

  • 5 of 5

The house seems larger than we imagined. There was on hand everything anyone might need to entertain themselves. Kitchen was only area that was small, but it worked fine. Needs a couple of small repairs (toilet seat bolt on bottom floor missing, etc), but overall a great property! We would stay here again. Location on water can't be beat.

A great location and setting. The view is incredible.

We had a great time at Xanadu. We stayed there with family for Thanksgiving. The younger people went kayaking, and we toured the surrounding areas. The place was perfect with lots of room to spread out, and the view of the harbor was exceptional.

Xanadu is paradise. Beautiful home and amazing owner!

  • 5 of 5

Our group just enjoyed 4 nights in this little piece of heaven. We had 7 adults, and it was a prefect fit. Sue was so accommodating from the very first contact and always responded immediately to questions. The sea kayaks were an added bonus, we took them out several times a day including once to go across to the tavern. Even tried our luck with the crab pots! Other reviews stated that the kitchen was too small and the house needed updating. We cooked several meals there and that kitchen was perfect. Stocked well, everything we needed and more, and we felt it was sized perfectly for a kitchen in a vacation home! As for the house needing updating, we thought it was fitting. We all felt very at home and the character of the house would not have been the same without the retro aspects. The only thing we could even come up with as needing improvement was that the sound system wasn't connected to any speakers. But the TV had music channels, so it wasn't a big deal. The views, the amenities, the downtown area, the green space right on the water, the homes ambiance and historical pictures! You really cannot go wrong in this home. The restaurants in town were all fun, delicious and affordable. We will definitely use the home again for our next trip to the area.

Comfortable, clean, roomy, splendid location!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the location with its fabulous view! The eclectic ambience sparked memories of visiting a home with warm memories and lots of love! It's not fancy or designer style but very cozy and welcoming! The kitchen is sufficient but tiny! We had such a busy schedule during our stay and wished we could have spent more time "living" there!

Great getaway

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Gig Harbor. The house was a great location, we had tons of fun kayaking to the light house and to the tavern across the way. We took advantage of the weather and the kids played softball on the grass while we watched from the deck. The house was nice but needs minor housekeeping. The sunroom would also be nice if it had curtains since it doubles as a 5th bedroom. Overall amazing place, Sue is very attentive and responsive too and there were tons of life jackets for adults and children.

We had a great stay in a house that just fit our needs and the location couldn'the be beat!

  • 4 of 5

This family-friendly house is located right on the waterfront of Gig Harbor. We were provided hours of interesting sights as the boating community paraded by! The decks, lawn, kayaks and inflatable boat made our family time special. The beds, bedding, towels and other amenities were very satisfactory. The kitchen is small and a "system" had to be implemented if more than one person was working there. There was a nice big dining room table and highchair for our use. There IS a house under construction next door with intermittent noise of various sorts, but we balanced that fact with ALL the positive aspects of our stay. The owners were very hospitable and worked with us to make our stay very satisfactory for our needs. We hope to return again for a stay!
