This condo is ideal for all groups that value space and privacy. For those with 5 or 6 people, THIS CORNER UNIT IS FOR YOU! Huge and luxurious 1230 sq. ft. 2 bedroom, 2 bath. There are 3 sliders to the amazing 1225 sq. ft. wrap around lanai that feels more like a yard. Perfect for night time star gazing! Two large bedrooms each with king beds. 2nd king can be split into two twins with advanced notice. There is a queen sleeper sofa and an Aero bed air mattress. Also equipped with Tommy Bahama beach chairs and umbrella, beach towels, coolers, swim jackets & noodles, boogie boards, numerous beach & pool items, a crib, high chair and a 3 wheel stroller. Both baths have dual sinks, separate shower and tub.

High thread count sheets for all beds, top of the line Macy's bed comforters, plush beach towels. The bath is well stocked with bath and hand towels and washcloths, Charter Club Vail collection pillows for all beds. Each bath has a hair dryer in a basket under the sink. There's a blender in the kitchen. Extra blankets are available upon request at check in. New washer/dryer September 2016. New refrigerator October 2016. Great unit for the whole family

This unit was an excellent place for our family of 5 to stay. I enjoyed cooking breakfast and having it out on the Lanai each morning before our daily treks to the beaches and other activities. My wife loved having the blender to blend up a fruit smoothie each day. We had all the amenities that everyone needed.

I loved how the doors open all the way, and every time we got back to the condo, the first thing I did was open up all the doors and just enjoy the Maui air and take in that view of the mountain. Sure, you can't see the ocean from the unit, but this back corner unit is so quiet and peaceful we were very happy to not have people walking by and instead have the waterfall sounds. And the layout of Honua Kai is such that the back units are farther away from the other tower, making it even more private. There is an ipod docking station which I liked dropping my iphone into and running Pandora to some Hawaiian music made it feel so relaxing. The wind in this corner unit does tend to get strong and blow some chairs around, but most of the time we hung out on the nice large table by the master bedroom sheltered from the wind while the kids liked the inside table so they could have their devices (sigh) plugged in.

At first we thought the unit was a bit far from the beach, but quickly realized it is in a great spot, with access to both sets of elevators that head straight to the parking garage. We utilized the garage a lot and made it super easy to load up groceries or quickly run back up to the room when someone forgot something. Our ONLY complaint about the unit is not with the unit itself, but that Honua Kai seems to not like stairs except for required fire code. Being on the 2nd floor, we did not want to wait for the slow elevator, and hunted down for the faster, more exercise friendly, sets of stairs. There are 2 sets fairly convenient to the room, but only to go DOWN (you can't use them to come back up since the bottom floor doors have no access entry). Some days we waited a while for the elevator.

The sand toys in the closet were the best thing for my 6 year old who decided snorkeling wasn't so much for him, so we took that everywhere we went, along with the great beach chairs and coolers to tote our stuff around the island.

The owner is super friendly and very helpful all the way leading up to our arrival, including a welcome text as soon as we landed with the information to get into our unit right away.

Great unit, terrific location, easy entry to vacation mode!

Our family of four stayed 4/9-4/15 and had a wonderful time. We've been to Honua Kai before, but this was the first time bringing the kids along (ages 5 and 9), and also the first time renting direct from an owner. The 2BR/2BA setup worked perfectly, giving everyone enough space while still all being together. The unit itself was clean, and everything worked as expected. Monty (the local agent) was easy to reach, very welcoming, responsive, and prompt. This was our first time renting directly from an owner, and the process was seamless. The owner (Will) was also very responsive, and also graciously accommodating to our late check-out request.

Because it's on the second floor, it's easy to get down via the nearby stairwell, yet also near the side elevator. The Whaler's General Store is conveniently located just below -- I highly recommend the iced coffee!

All in all, a great experience and what I'd hope from a relaxing vacation. No drama, no surprises, easy access to everything. Highly recommended!

The unit was a dream

The unit was a dream . The views of the mountains spectacular. The waterfalls right under our unit added just right amount of ambiance. Honua Kai is a fabulous property with 4 pools, 4 Hot tubs a Spa and 2 convenience stores . Everything might need in a resort. The owner and the property manager were great and easy to reach. If there was a problem they were johnny on the spot to fix it.

Already miss it!

We just got back from a 16 night stay. Loved it! We have stayed at Honua Kai in (in the other building) before. We loved the location! It's too bad they don't have a BBQ on the HUGE deck as it is a bit of a walk to the always busy BBQs but it might be a building rule. It's great to be just one floor up and be able to able to leave the doors open and also not feel like everyone can see into your unit. Very private, open and bright! They came in and refreshed all our linens about halfway through our stay and that was great. We made very good use out of the beach chairs. We left a few floaties behind to be used by others. We visited Black Rock for snorkeling and to do a whale watching tour and the beach and water were SO crowded. The beach and snorkeling at Honua Kai is so much better. Plus, when you walk around some of the really dated resorts at Kaanapali, you realize just how amazing everything is at HK. The one bummer was that Duke's restaurants menu has changed and the food wasn't as good and yet was harder to get a reservation at. The location and atmosphere is great but there are so many other restaurants around to try so don't get lulled into going there more than once. Fleetwoods on Front Street and Koa's are really good restaurants in Lahaina. Definitely seek out the Maui Swap Meet on Saturday morning for good deals on stuff you'd probably buy in Lahaina and absolutely drive to Paia and Makawao which are so much better than Lahaina for shopping and ambience which really just feels like a cruise port now.
