Beautiful barn in pretty location just a few minutes walk from the city centre

Bedrooms 1
Space 850 sq. ft.
Property type barn
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Large light and airy barn in tranquil location with free parking and wifi.

Recently converted with the aim of providing somewhere cosy and comfortable, stylish and chic to stay - the kind of place we like to stay in ourselves! By using contemporary greys and whites and adding an eclectic mix of antique and modern furniture with hand picked accessories we've created somewhere rather special. The bed is decked with five star bedlinen: Egyptian cotton sheets, goose-down duvet and feather pillows. And of course there are fluffy white towels. It's designed to be romantic, fresh and welcoming. Across the courtyard from the barn is our family home - an 18th century farmhouse - no longer a working farm, but full of character nevertheless. We love it here and hope you will too!

About Jilly

We were both born here! Despite travelling with our jobs in earlier years we returned to Bath when we got married and brought up our family here. We started a company together in the 1980's and ran it for many years from the farm which has adapted to our needs over the years. We feel very blessed to live here.

Jilly purchased this barn in 1991

Why Jilly chose Bath

We fell in love with this place the moment we saw it! For years we drove past it on the way to our sons school. It was rather neglected in those years but still way beyond our reach financially! But our business began to grow and one day we saw the farm was up for sale. Despite some nail-biting moments we managed to secure it and have spent the last 20 years here. It's an ongoing project and we love it!

What makes this barn unique

We are so close to the vibrant city centre yet can be back in the calm surroundings of the farmhouse in a matter of minutes.

The farm still has its old bread oven in the sitting room, a natural spring in the garden, and beautiful mature trees around. It really is very special place.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have just spent 3 wonderful nights at Little Owl Barn. On our arrival we received a warm welcome form Jilly and Paul and the accommodation is perfect. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. It's an easy walk in to Bath with plenty of restaurants, good shopping and lots of things to do. I am sure we will visit again

The City of Bath is a World Heritage site, as famous for its Roman Baths as its stunning Georgian architecture. Add to that its festivals, museums, markets, theatres, shops and restaurants and you have a rather special place. Little Owl Barn is in a tranquil conservation valley just minutes from the lively heart of the city. It is also ideally situated for visiting so many other interesting and historic places in the West Country: Wells, Glastonbury, the Cotswolds, Oxford, London, Castle Combe, Lacock, Stonehenge, Salisbury, Highbridge, and the Cheddar Gorge to name but a few.

Lovely accommodation in great location

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at Little Owl barn. It is a beautifully restored building in a great, quiet location within walking distance of central Bath. Jilly and Paul were wonderful hosts; very responsive to all of our enquiries, letting us drop off our car and luggage when we arrived early, and checking in on us during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. Look forward to our next stay when we are in the area again.

Great stay.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay at this spacious, modern barn. Great location, only a short from Bath town centre. Would certainly return again when visiting this area.

Like a charming country cottage within walking distance of all Bath's sights

  • 5 of 5

We'd been a little concerned about the location of Little Owl Barn since we'd be in Bath without a car. We needn't have worried. The charming and comfortable Little Owl Barn is but a 20 minute walk to the Roman Baths and then a short stroll to most of what you'll want to see in Bath. Plus, should you decide, as my husband and I did, to take a "Country Walk", you simply turn right instead of left at the end of the lane and you're soon in the fantastic gardens of Prior Park. Don't miss that 18th-century stately home. I also managed to attach myself one afternoon to a group of locals taking a nature walk with a birder and learned the origin of Little Owl's name. The sounds you may hear in the night are the mating calls of the Tawny Owl, a "little" owl just a foot or so in height. The "barn" has plenty of pluses--comfortable bed, good hot shower, inviting living room--and it's also a quick jaunt away from a source of excellent morning pastries, and a pub called the White Hart which serves excellent food.

Wonderful Hosts (and, oh by the way, the Barn was adorable)

  • 5 of 5

We were met upon arrival by Paul and Jilly, who were extremely welcoming to us as first-time visitors to the UK. Jilly immediately offered to make us reservations as the nearby pub, the White Hart. This was so unexpected as we had not had time to even consider what we were going to do for a meal. The White Hart is within easy walking distrance and the staff there took very good care of us. It helped that local musicians were playing in the garden outside and the evening was just perfect. The Barn is very well done, clean, with all the amenities one would need to stay from one day to a month. The neighborhood is very quiet, but is very close to the key attractions in Bath. I would recommend that you walk and take in the sights. All in all, a very good choice to stay!
