Beautiful flat, beautiful area and very kind owners

  • 5 of 5

This was a holiday where everything was fine! The apartment leaves nothing to be desired, is very tastefully decorated, the owners are very kind and friendly. And the dog was welcome, anywhere! Certaldo Alto is lovely - it has everything you need. Good restaurants, nice streets and the proximity to other attractions and major cities is perfect. Tuscany always again and as guests at Alessandro and his family: Sure! Everytime again!

Citta Alta

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Certaldo started off on a interesting note. When A. (THE OWNER) took us for a tour of the town and the approaches, the town was preparing for their annual Medevial Dinner. We bought the last 2 tickets available and that evening had the greatest time.

The next day it was hard to believe it was the same town. As we came to recognize the people of the town it became like home. We enjoyed the town and utilized the train which stopped in the "newer" city for trips to Siena and Florence. The apartment was very comfortable and well equipped with a new bathroom and large shower. A wonderful view of San Gimignano in the distance from the back patio and yard. The owners and their daughter were very nice and accommodating . A good choice of restaurants in the alta and more in the basso which also had a very large supermarket. All in all an excellent choice. We hated to leave.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this flat for a week in early October. We rented bicycles and did day rides to neighboring villages. The owners were incredible! Kind, patient (I speak no Italian), hospitable and truly curious about us. The flat is quiet, well equipped if you want to cook or entertain. Appertivo hour was my favorite as the town's elderly all congregate out on the street corner, playing cards or just catching up on the day's news. Certaldo Basso has everything you'll need that a city can offer, but the Alto town is where the heart of the city is, friendly, historic and truly beautiful! Bella Italia! I can't wait to come back and stay here...I'll learn more Italian language for the next trip.

The Perfect Tuscan Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

I almost hesitate to write this review since I know that once word gets out about this place it will be almost impossible to get a week there again. My wife and I spent an amazing week here at the end of September, and it was truly the experience of a lifetime. The apartment is located in Certaldo Alto, the old town, literally steps from the historic palazzo. Shopping (local alimentari and macellarias, Ipersoap - for things like laundry detergent and dishwashing tablets, and COOP - a great supermarket) and transportation (train and bus) are located a short walk or funicular ride away. The pictures above are accurate, but really don't give you an idea of how nice this apartment is until you see it in person. This apartment was newly renovated and spotlessly clean. It has all the modern conveniences you need to fully enjoy your stay. You have a great view from the bedroom on the main street below in the old town and from the terrace you have an unparalleled view of the countryside and San Gimignano in the distance. You could easily spend your entire time exploring Certaldo and the surrounding area or visit the main sights of Tuscany (we used public transportation to get to Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, and Panzano in Chianti). As great as all of these features were, they were not the best part of this apartment. By far the best thing about this apartment was the owners, Alessandro, Alessandra and their daughter Elena, who are truly wonderful people. From the incredibly warm welcome they gave us all the way to Alessandro rushing back to get our passports after we left them in the apartment when we checked out (thanks again Alessandro!) so we could still make our train, we were treated like old friends or family rather than two American strangers renting their apartment. If you are lucky you may also be fortunate enough to meet some of their friends and family - Giancarlo, Massimo, Marco, Barbara (be sure to visit her alimentari in Certaldo Basso!), and Elodie (I hope I spelled that right) all made our trip special and memorable. From quick conversations in the shared garden and tips about where to go in the local area to sharing meals and drinks with us, Alessandro, Alessandra and Elena truly made our vacation an unforgettable one. By the time we left we felt like we were saying goodbye to some dear friends. This is a special place owned by special people.

Amazing & Unforgettable

  • 5 of 5

We were so lucky to be the first ones to stay at this charming place after Alessandro and family finished its renewal. We absolutely loved our time there and recommend it without hesitation. Deep gratitude to Alessandro and all his family, and Giancarlo who made our stay unforgettable.

Things we enjoyed the most:

- Our host Italian hospitality and warmth.

- The privacy of the place, even in the middle of a historic place.

- Breathtaking views from the serene garden

- Certaldo Alto and Basso both incredible in their spirit and balance between local attractions, light tourism traffic and serenity.

- The place has been finished with extreme attention to detail, elegance, great taste.

- Having two full kitchens, one inside and one outside. Both fully equipped, outside we enjoyed a beautiful pizza night dinner as a kind invitation from Alessandro and his family.

- The walks within Certaldo and the park where the exercise and relax in the forest with magnificent Tuscan landscape and nature surrounding us.

- The accessibility to Florence and all other towns and cities through trains and roads.

It was our first time in Tuscany, certainly this now feels as our Tuscan home and hometown. Deeply grateful.

Großartige Ferienwohnung

  • 5 of 5
