About Ron & Connie Crompton

The property was purchased in 1997 with only a manufactured home, which is now the home for our daughter and 2 grandsons. We started the log home in 1999 with trees from the property and trees purchased locally. This hand-crafted log home has hardwood floors in the great room, dining room and kitchen. All the bedrooms are carpeted, as well as the loft living room.

The daylight basement is a completed functional apartment unit with outside access where we the homeowners live with our miniature border collie and two outside cats. We have excellent well water. So no one needs to bring bottled water. We hope you enjoy the log home, the views, the quiet seclusion and the forest animals as much as we do!

Why Ron & Connie Crompton chose Willamette Valley

A home this size is perfect for family reunions, wine tasting groups and four or five couples or old friends who like to get together once every year or two. One of the big attractions is sitting out on the wrap-around deck and all you can hear is the forest birds. Very rarely will you even hear a logging truck down below on the main road.

Guestbook comments from the owner

So far all of our reviews have been "5 star." So this one was a surprise. Our web site clearly states that there is no dishwasher in the current kitchen and that will change when the upgrade is completed. The entire house is carpeted except for the great room, dining room and kitchen which will be hardwood. Currently those floors are covered with large area rugs. Plus when we give our guests the welcome tour, we explain this in more detail. None of our guests have had a problem with this.

When the finished floor is done and the kitchen upgrade is completed, this large, rustic log home will be quite elegant, and still a bargain for large groups that desire the quiet seclusion of a forested mountaintop.

Great Girls weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a girl's weekend to go wine tasting. This was the perfect spot! Ron was there upon arrival, and gave us a grand tour of the beautiful lodge. He was so helpful and super communicative whenever we had a question! The space is beautiful and it really is tucked away in the woods, so you have tons of privacy. We went wine tasting and it was an easy location for the shuttle to pick us up and drop us off. Definitely grab some groceries beforehand if you plan to do so! There were enough beds and bathrooms for all 8 of us and nobody was cramped. I will definitely be recommending this space to friends and will be planning to stay here in the future!

Amazing log cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here. So close to wine country, and perfect for a group summer trip - nice and airy log cabin! The owners are so nice and accommodating but definitely let us enjoy our stay without interference, something I was concerned about since they live downstairs (but wasn't an issue at all)! Thanks so much for the wonderful vacation!

Rustic beauty

  • 5 of 5

When our niece announced that she was getting married in the far off state of Oregon, our rather sizable family needed to find a location that could accommodate all of us. While we wanted to be away from everything during our stay, we didn't want to be TOO far away. As it turned out, Oakridge Mountain Lodge was the perfect spot for us! Rebers Riverside was the wedding venue which happens to be just a few miles up the road. The Lodge not only housed 4 families of adults and children for the week, it also was able to accommodate the bride and her bridesmaids on the day of her wedding---the natural lighting, breezy climate and numerous bedrooms made for an easy space for everyone to get ready.

Once the wedding insanity had passed, the remaining members of our party were able to take things down a notch by taking walks around the property, hanging out on the deck, having s'mores and sing-a-longs around the fire-pit or simply enjoying a nice glass of local wine while relaxing in the hot tub. And to cap things off, the Cromptons are perfect hosts. They were decidedly unobtrusive all the while remaining close at hand should they be needed.

This home away from home is great for relaxing with large groups of people since there is plenty of room in the common area and outside paired alongside plenty of rooms to accommodate couples or family groups. Looking forward to coming back!
