About Ron & Connie Crompton

The property was purchased in 1997 with only a manufactured home, which is now the home for our daughter and 2 grandsons. We started the log home in 1999 with trees from the property and trees purchased locally. This hand-crafted log home has hardwood floors in the great room, dining room and kitchen. All the bedrooms are carpeted, as well as the loft living room.

The daylight basement is a completed functional apartment unit with outside access where we the homeowners live with our miniature border collie and two outside cats. We have excellent well water. So no one needs to bring bottled water. We hope you enjoy the log home, the views, the quiet seclusion and the forest animals as much as we do!

Why Ron & Connie Crompton chose Yamhill

A home this size is perfect for family reunions, wine tasting groups and four or five couples or old friends who like to get together once every year or two. One of the big attractions is sitting out on the wrap-around deck and all you can hear is the forest birds. Very rarely will you even hear a logging truck down below on the main road.

Guestbook comments from the owner

So far all of our reviews have been "5 star." So this one was a surprise. Our web site clearly states that there is no dishwasher in the current kitchen and that will change when the upgrade is completed. The entire house is carpeted except for the great room, dining room and kitchen which will be hardwood. Currently those floors are covered with large area rugs. Plus when we give our guests the welcome tour, we explain this in more detail. None of our guests have had a problem with this.

When the finished floor is done and the kitchen upgrade is completed, this large, rustic log home will be quite elegant, and still a bargain for large groups that desire the quiet seclusion of a forested mountaintop.

Comfortable stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of four couples visiting the Willamette Valley for winetasting and found the accommodations at this Yamhill home to be very comfortable. The four bedrooms each had their own bathroom (a must when I was searching for a rental) however, one bathroom only had a tub and that couple had to share someone else's shower. The owner, Ron, was very welcoming and helpful. He lives in the lower part of the house, but we rarely saw him. He was always a phone call away and always answered promptly. The toilet paper, kleenex, paper towels, coffee, dish soap, clothes detergent etc..... were all supplied for us. We cooked one night and ate out the other nights; we found the kitchen to be well stocked with pots and pans and utensils. There was a coffee maker AND a Keurig. We had a minor problem when we checked the key and lock prior to leaving for our tasting, but by the time we returned that evening, Ron had already switched out the locks and had a new key made for us. Check in and check out was a breeze as we didn't have to do any cleaning. Lots of deer visited us during our stay and we used the hot tub a few times. The internet was spotty and took forever to load pages. The price was very reasonable split four ways. We highly recommend this log home and will definitely return if we visit the Portland area again.

Great Girls weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a girl's weekend to go wine tasting. This was the perfect spot! Ron was there upon arrival, and gave us a grand tour of the beautiful lodge. He was so helpful and super communicative whenever we had a question! The space is beautiful and it really is tucked away in the woods, so you have tons of privacy. We went wine tasting and it was an easy location for the shuttle to pick us up and drop us off. Definitely grab some groceries beforehand if you plan to do so! There were enough beds and bathrooms for all 8 of us and nobody was cramped. I will definitely be recommending this space to friends and will be planning to stay here in the future!
