About Ron & Connie Crompton

The property was purchased in 1997 with only a manufactured home, which is now the home for our daughter and 2 grandsons. We started the log home in 1999 with trees from the property and trees purchased locally. This hand-crafted log home is in its final stage of completion with only a kitchen upgrade and hardwood floor in the great room left to complete.

The daylight basement is a completed functional apartment unit with outside access where we the homeowners live with our miniature border collie and a cat. We also have a miniature horse that roams free on the property (begging for carrots from the guests). We hope you enjoy the log home, the views, the quiet seclusion and the forest animals as much as we do!

Guestbook comments from the owner

So far all of our reviews have been "5 star." So this one was a surprise. Our web site clearly states that there is no dishwasher in the current kitchen and that will change when the upgrade is completed. The entire house is carpeted except for the great room, dining room and kitchen which will be hardwood. Currently those floors are covered with large area rugs. Plus when we give our guests the welcome tour, we explain this in more detail. None of our guests have had a problem with this.

When the finished floor is done and the kitchen upgrade is completed, this large, rustic log home will be quite elegant, and still a bargain for large groups that desire the quiet seclusion of a forested mountaintop.

A wonderful place - can't wait to go back.

What a beautiful and secluded place to relax and unwind after fun-filled days of wine tasting. We had 9 adults for a 4-day weekend in mid-November and the space was perfect. With the cool rainy weather we did not really take advantage of the large deck, hot tub, or fire pit, but the wood burning fire place in the living room and the large dining room table provided ample space for the group to gather for meals, fun and games. And the layout of the bedrooms/bathrooms in the home allowed for some privacy as well. The lofts are in the two upstairs bedrooms and based on the size, are really only ideal for children. We had one (young) adult sleep on the upstairs couch instead - which worked just fine. The place was well stocked with kitchen supplies, games, blankets, pillows, etc... Ron was very helpful with recommendations for restaurants, shops, and wine tours. We will be back!

Perfect for several couples traveling together.

  • 5 of 5

This place was exactly as it was described and was perfect for several couples visiting the Oregon wine country. Each bedroom had its own bathroom and the two downstairs bedrooms also had access to the wrap around deck. The common areas were comfortable and the house is wonderfully furnished and stocked. We enjoyed the deck and the lovely cool evenings, clean air and peaceful surrounds. Arthur was an added bonus! Most evenings we elected to eat at the house rather than make the drive back into town. It is tucked away from the towns but the drives in weren't bad and the scenery is beautiful.

Perfect spot for a large group to relax and enjoy!

The Lodge is beautiful and so are the surroundings!! My grandson loved Charlie the mini horse. We felt welcome and attended to but also had the place to ourselves. Comfy beds, linens and towels. Nicely appointed kitchen. This place has it all!

Amazing! Beautiful! Breathtaking!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at the log house for her birthday celebration in Nov, and we had the best experience! Although we planned for a larger group, it was just us, and we enjoyed every inch of the house. The best part is all of the rooms have a private bath. You cannot beat that! The views are absolutely outstanding, and the home is so very comfortable and cozy. Waking up and watching the sunrise from the wraparound deck is nothing short of amazing. There was nothing better than relaxing in the hot tub after a long day of exploring the valley, and warming up before hanging out in front of the fire with a bottle of nice wine. The beds are super comfortable, the house is spotless, and Ron was very welcoming. He made sure we made it into the house safely and showed us around so we knew where everything was and how everything operated. This was one of our favorite trips, and this house was the icing on the cake. We cannot wait to return for another visit! Thanks, Ron!!!
