About Rokhaya Waring

I am a working artist and member of the Rocky Neck Art Colony. My studio is situated between our house and The Willow House. You are welcome to visit my studio during your stay. To see my artwork and for more info please visit my website.

Why Rokhaya Waring chose North of Boston & Greater Merrimack Valley

We are in a quiet garden setting, but at the same time so close to a bustling small city, rich with history, places to visit and things to do. We have beaches, wildlife, and sunsets over the ocean, a wealth of cultural events and restaurants- all within an incredibly friendly community. This area of Gloucester feels like a village, with everything one needs or desires close by, and we often feel that we are on vacation- right here at home.

What makes this apartment unique

My husband and I love living in this area that has inspired so many artists: Fitz Henry Lane, Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, John Sloan, and Marsden Hartley- to name just a few.

We cherish being able to walk to Rocky Neck for breakfast at Sailor Stan's, dinner at The Rudder, or for a freshly baked muffin and a newspaper at The Last Stop. We love to stroll to the end of the Neck to see the old Copper Paint Factory (now the headquarters for Ocean Alliance), and through America's oldest shipyard (Gloucester Marine Railways) to see the boats being worked on. The beauty here is intense and genuine.

The unit and the gardens in the back are perfect. We had a wonderful time in Rocky Neck!

Everything we needed was in the unit. The unit is a short walk to galleries, restaurants, and many beautiful landscapes. It's easy to see why artists love this area!

This place just gets better!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and stayed at The Willow House the first week in June and was our second visit. We were not disappointed with this visit either. What a wonderful and relaxing place this is. Close to everything you might want to do in the Gloucester area but private and extremely quiet. It was a wonderful place to come home to after a busy day of being out and about. Our hosts were extremely helpful in helping us finds things to do and suggesting places to see, eat and just visit. I would heartily recommend The Willow House to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable and quiet setting to seek peace, serenity and solace during a vacation stay. Keep up the great work and thanks for your wonderful generosity. Best regards, Paul & Kathleen Fagley Keene, NH.

perfect vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We just spent one week in the Willow House and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. It was the perfect escape from NYC. First the house itself is lovely, quiet and peacful, with beautiful original artwork on the walls, a well stocked kitchen, a great shower, a deck overlooking a lovely garden, and a view of a little cove. Rokhaya and Alex are also very gracious responsive hosts, who welcomed us with delicious cookies and wine and gave us great suggestions for places to eat, visit and walk to. Finally the house is in a perfect location, within walking distance of restaurants, galleries, an ice parlor and a little cafe, but it is also a very convenient base to explore all of the delightful Cape Ann. We just wish we could have stayed longer and we look forward to coming back there again in the not too distant future. We loved it!
