The home was in very clean condition upon arrival. The location was great with stunning mountain views and close to town and outdoor activities. The owner was responsive and kind. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a great BV stay.

Quiet, relaxing experience.

Everything working, great setup. Nicely maintained, and location is ideal. No Sprint cell service anywhere in Buena Vista. Great communication with the owner.

Excellent place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was excellent and well maintained. Our grandkids loved going down to the creek and panning for gold. The Orlandino's are fantastic hosts and went out of their way to meet our every need. We would definitely stay here again. The only thing we felt lacking is there is no internet available.

Late August Colorado ATV trip

  • 5 of 5

We had a party of 5 adults with 3 trucks with atv trailers. We loved the location with surrounding mountains and awesome views. The creeks out back were a nice extra area for relaxing and hanging out. It's obvious that a lot of extra effort went in to developing the creek area to make it inviting.

The house itself was large and spacious and we'll outfitted. My wife wants our next home to be based off the floor plan of your home. The bonus game room was a nice extra space for not only relaxing but a great staging area for the gear you don't want to take into the bedroom but would like to have secured indoors.

The location is 3 miles out of town but is easily accessible. The house is all on one level with the master suite on one end the other two bedrooms on the other end of the house separated by the large open family room. The only stairs are three steps coming into the front door or out of the garage/game room. The furnishings are quite nice, complete, and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked as well.

We fully enjoyed our stay and would return again. We did however miss not having an internet connection. I can respect the choice to not have internet in a vacation home but as travelers needing to plan other aspects of our trip we found it problematic.

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful home! The house was very clean and just the right size for our group of 3 couples. Beautiful walk by the creek with a cool bridge across. Gorgeous view of the Collegiate Peaks and Sleeping Indian. Everything you need is right there, picnic table, grill and dishes for cooking your meals. The owner was very easy to work with and accommodating. We definitely want to stay here again!

Clean, tidy place

  • 3 of 5

Anthony was very accommodating to our large group. He was friendly & helpful. The house was clean & tidy. My family said it felt a little uncomfortable, tho, like they were clearly living in someone else's space, and that it felt like they were intruding. The host's clothes were in the closets & personal affects were all over the house. They also felt like there were so many rules posted around the house that they weren't able to make the best of a place with so much potential for good, old fashioned fun. It is a lovely home in one of the best parts of Colorado. Thank you for having us.

Owner's Response: Our rules are only posted on the refrigerator not throughout the home and it's the same rules I email to all my guest prior to there reserving the home (basic home rules). Yes, we did leave you a note to keep your showers short so all 10+ people will able to have hot water for you big wedding day.

Buena Vista, Spanish for “good view,” is nestled at the foot of the Continental Divide. It is the sort of community most people only dream of.

The hardworking, quiet people who have always resided in this area are a large part of what has made this town a great place to live and play, from rafting and fishing to hiking, biking and much more.

The Comanche Drive-In Movie Theater is open during the summer months and is located approximately three miles west of the Buena Vista traffic light on Chaffee County Road 306.

The Chaffee County Regional Airport is located southwest of town. There does not appear to be commercial service into this airport, however. (Note that if you're hiking in the nearby Sawatch Mountains, which are convenient to Buena Vista, there are many viewpoints from which you can watch planes on the approach to this airport below you.)

Buena Vista is located approximately 94 miles west of Colorado Springs and is reached from there via west on Hwy. 24 to Hwy 285 and then north for approximately two miles. It's just a two-hour drive from western metro Denver via US 285.

Hike, bike, fish, raft, kayak. Base camp and provisioning stop for through-hikers on the Continental Divide Trail and Colorado Trail. Also attracts off-road enthusiasts in the summer and snowmobiles in the winter exploring old mining ghost towns and trails west of town and the Fourmile Recreation Area east of town.

Enjoy soaking in geothermal hot springs at kid-friendly Mount Princeton Resort. Cottowood Hot Springs is clothing optional after dark

Alpine skiing: perhaps surprisingly, there are no major ski areas in the Sawatch Range itself. The nearest resort is Monarch Mountain [10] southwest of town near Salida and Poncha Springs. It's one of Colorado's more 'family'-oriented ski areas, with a number of fairly easy slopes and maybe not as many double-diamond adventures as at some other sites. Bigger destination resorts such as Copper Mountain is an hour north via US 24 over well-maintained Fremont Pass and and Vail is just a tad further west on I-70. Breckendridge is 1-1/2 hours away via US 285 to Fairplay then head north over Hoosier Pass. Backcountry ski touring and snowshoeing is also popular.

Colorado Kayak Supply, one of the country's top-selling paddlesports shops is on Main Street. The Trailhead has all kinds of land lubber outdoor equipment gear rentals and sales plus outdoor clothing, maps, basically anything you forgot to pack for your trip. Both shops have knowledgeable sales staff who live, eat and breathe a steady diet of outdoor adventure and are happy to share tips and advice.
