About the property

4 Bedroom, 2 bath lake front property

Loon Bay Retreat is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath, vacation home, with a sundeck that overlooks a sloping lawn to 125 feet of lake shore on Twin Bear Lake a part of the Pike Lake Chain of Lakes. The Pike Lake Chain consists of six spring fed lakes connected by channels. All are assessable by boat. The lakes total nearly 950 acres of clear, deep waters. Loon Bay Retreat is located 1/4 of a mile from the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. This forest consists of 858,400 acres of land in Northwest WI.

Many species of fish call the Pike Lake Chain home. Muskies, Northern, Walleyes and Bass are plentiful in the cool, clear lake water. Many large mouth bass and pan fish have been caught from the dock. Over the years, a few muskies have been also caught from the dock. This is a great place for kids to learn how to fish for pan fish and Dad to land large mouth bass.(or Muskie!)

Nature abounds from the soaring eagles in the sky, to the loons in the bay and the occasional deer in the driveway.

Enjoy nearby ATV, snowmobile trails and ice fishing in the winter.

This fully furnished, air-conditioned home has a LCD TV with DVD in the living room .Wi-Fi and Satellite TV. The master bedroom also has a LCD TV with a Playstation 3. Satellite TV is also available in the Master Bedroom. The master bedroom has a private bath. A microwave is available for use in the kitchen.

Loon Bay Retreat is located within an easy drive to Bayfield, WI, the gateway to the Apostle Island National Lake Shore. Bayfield, WI is home to the Bayfield Apple Festival, which is listed as one of the 'Top 10 Fall Festivals in North America.'

Loon Bay Retreat is also an easy ride to Cable, WI, the home of Telemark and the American Birkebeiner. A short ride from Cable is Hayward,WI, the home of the Lumberjack World Championships.

Improved!

Woot! They got Wifi!

This year we took our three small daughters (ages 1, 2, and 4). This place was great for them. A great yard from the house to the dock, with space for them to run around.

Only thing missing is a place to clean fish. Even a table with a hose would be nice (we brought our own).

We also rented the pontoon this time. It was in very good shape with fishing pole storage and a "changing room" which was great for storage.

The place also has a nice place for a campfire and wood at the ready for doing so.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

For being a northwoods cabin, it is fantastic. It's not a 5 star resort, but a great cabin! The location on the lake is perfect. Beautiful wooded area!

Pros: nice size space, mattresses pretty good, plenty of storage, very clean

Cons: dock is a bit short, places to put suitcases is a bit limited, no wifi (not that I'd expect it, but it would be really nice for those of us who need to work on vacation), no place to clean fish.

A short drive to Brule, WI home of the Brule River famous for canoeing, kayaking and fly fishing. The canoe trip takes you by the summer home of President Calvin Coolidge. It is a short drive to the shores of Lake Superior,in either summer or winter a beautiful site. Ice Caves can be found in the winter. In the summer you can drive along hwy 13 thru the towns of Port Wing, Herbster, Cornucopia and Bayfield. Bayfield is the gateway to the Apostle Islands, with ferry service to Madaline Island. Bayfield in itself is a destination. In addition to the view of the beautiful islands, Bayfield has some wonderful wineries to visit. Fall in Bayfield brings the Apple Festival. Close to the property is the Chequamegom National Forest, rich with wildlife and beauty. Fall being a beautiful time to visit to view the changing leaves. Kayaks available for rent for a quiet ride on lake. Ashland is a quick 30 min. There you can enjoy the beach on lake Superior. Rent kayaks, paddle boards and more. Winter brings the Book across the Bay ski race, which is done by candle light at night from Ashland to Wasburn. Beautiful 10 k race.
