Lovely place to live
This is a great house with a nice location having a river front view. James(owner) is very helpful.
Stayed here for couple of days, had a wonderful time living here. I would strongly recommend this to all.
James, see you soon again with a great deal once more ;)
Great cabin by the river
The cabin was very clean and it had all the essentials. It can accommodate upto 6 adults and 2 kids. The best part about it was the amazing location. It was right in front of an awesome river. It also had a great deck and we were able to have breakfast while enjoying nature. The location was also very serene and peaceful. The owner was very helpful and responded to my emails promptly. All in all we had a great stay and really enjoyed ourselves.
Perfect and Reasonably-Priced River Retreat
The family (including Horace the Dog) had a wonderful time at this riverside location. The owner was great to us and quickly responsive. The house is roomy enough and the fully-equipped kitchen (sans dishwasher) was utilized alot. We used the kayaks and tubes and launched several float runs from the boat launch one mile down the road - about an hour tube ride. We caught small mouth and large mouth bass in the river. We made a fire in the pit mere feet by the river and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows under the sea of stars. We saw many hawks and osprey hunting for fish. The roomy front yard saw several croquet games (kept in the shed) and the front porch was perfect for cool evenings. Food Lions and 7-11s and Dollar Generals are just 10-15 minutes away. We will definitely come back, this time I will be better equipped to fish for the big ones I know are in the river.
A few of my friends and I stayed down for a weekend on my 26th birthday. It was a great location right on the river with a spacious front yard. Fire pit in the back and the front, which was nice. We got to roast marshmallows. The house was in good condition when we got there and was exactly what me and my friends needed for a little get away from our busy lives in northern virginia. I would definitely go back. Check out time is 11am, which was slightly difficult when you have been up all night but the owner was kind enough to let us clean and keep our cars in the driveway so we could get one last dip into the river. I had a blast!
Thank you Ashleigh, I am so glad you enjoyed it and belated Happy Birthday!
Great get away!
Cute property! Quiet area with very beautiful scenery. Landscape well manicured. Air conditioning worked well and water was nice and hot. There were 7 of us, 4 adults and 3 children. I slept on top of the sofa using the sleep pad I brought, since it is my experience that fold out sofas do not have comfortable mattresses. With that said, I slept quite well. Loved the big porch! Cooked out every night on the barbecue grill. We took the tubes and kayak up the road to the boat ramp. It is wide and deep there, so we spent time just paddling in that area. Floated the tubes and kayak back to the property. We brought ropes so we could tie the kayaks to the top of the vehicle, which had cross bars on top. I suggest bringing your own lifevests, especially for the children. We enjoyed wading in the river, which is easily accessed across the road. Be sure to bring good water shoes. Saw lots of wildlife!
3 day stay
We spent a great restful Memorial Day weekend 5/2015. Family of four and another family with small children. We must preface by saying we are frequent river visitors each year so we have rented various homes. The house is an old modular home. 3 rooms - We were able to have a room each. Ok Sleeper sofa. A/c home. Kept us cool! Has a small kitchen - We cooked meals each evening and bbq'd on the charcoal grill. Pros: very responsive owner - had his number on hand; nice grassy front yard to set up tents or sun shade, or games ; ok sized rooms, kitchen appliances worked, aside from the busy main road between the house and the river - it is in a good area - good location - the river was easily accessible. Fished and tubed. No noisy neighbors. Patio table and chairs - have dinner outside!! Cons - The home needs TLC. It is definitely old in comparison to others. Price fit the home. It does have a kitchen and rooms. We dont know who but we can assume prior guests had not cleaned some dishes/pots/ etc. Pantry shelves contained some oils and rags that had not been washed. We simply moved them. Perhaps owner's cleaning crew need to thoroughly clean before guests arrive Or go through cleaning checklist. Not sure if owner has that. There is a busy road between the house and river - as it is for many properties on this stretch - but it was very busy with many a speeding car. Be careful crossing. Backyard porch small - light kept flickering. Do grill when it's still light outside :)
Thank you for the stay. We are often in that area twice a year!
Thank you for your review and I think the check list is a good idea. I have already asked my cleannig crew to begin one. They are usually very thourough but its hard sometimes to catch the unexpected like a pots & pans put back in the cupboards dirty. Also asked them to add to the list checking for needed light bulb replacement. In any event, I am glad that you had an overall good time and hope that you will return.
