About the Property

Villa - rural - 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms - sleeps 8 - 3 terraces

Villa Terra di Luna, is an exceptionally beautiful and spacious 18th century farmhouse. Five years was spent on the restoration of the house, additions were made and a pool and extensive terracing were created. This stone built farmhouse is composed of eighteen rooms – an entrance hall with cloakroom, a spacious split level lounge, a dining room, and a large kitchen, the second floor has three bedrooms and three bathrooms two of which are en suite. The barn comprises a bedroom with a shower-room en suite and a lounge/office, finally there is a wine cellar and a cantina. The house has been fitted to an exceptionally high standard utilising both outstanding taste and attention to detail. The architecture, interior design and the custom made furniture, is the work of the owner, sensitively balancing the original character and charm with the elegance and simplicity of contemporary and historical influences to produce a unique house.

On the edge of the small village of Vallazzana and 10 minutes from the walled Renaisance town of Fivizzano, the villa with its olive trees, vines and spectacular views of the Apennines is perfectly set amongst the unspoilt peaceful meadows and gently forested hills of Lunigiana ‘the land of the moon’ Tuscany, a region as breathtakingly beautiful as any in Italy. Lunigiana renowned for its gastronomy and fine trattoria’s; serving fresh, local and seasonal produce which together with the kind, friendly people is set in an atmosphere that leaves the rest of the world behind. The picturesque beaches and ports of the Italian Riveria; Lerici, Portovenere, the Cinque Terre, Portofino and Forte di Marmi with their excellent seafood restaurants and wines are all within easy and pleasurable reach. Pisa, Lucca, Parma and Genoa are 1 hour by autostrada, Florence and Siena with their wealth of magnificent art, architecture and history 2 hours.

** For further info see link below to owners website

Other Activities: Golf, Skiing, Tennis (5 km), Horse Riding

Golf: In Lunigiana history is evident in abundance, the wealth of surviving castles from the middle ages dot the landscape amongst them at Bagnone and Fosdinovo, many well preserved others in ruins, Sarzana (a somewhat undiscovered gem to rival Lucca) near the Ligurian Riviera has two, it is a delight with good restaurants, trattorias, bars and sophisticated night life, excellent shopping, an antique market, fashionable fun loving Italians nightly thronging its beautiful streets, a wonderful atmosphere to experience.

Fivizzano, a walled Renaisance town close to the villa has perhaps the finest castle at Verrucola, Fivizzano famous for its events (approx 50) throughout the year; in summer medieval archery, jousting, dancing and flag throwing, classical music evenings both choral and orchestral. The Sapori (taste) food festival (May-June) celebrates the best of the organic/artisan foods and wines of Lunigiana and its neighbours.

Romanesque churches and baroque palaces are throughout the region. There are many museums, in Pontremoli one devoted to the ‘stelle’ the stone statues peculiar to the area. Close by are the restorative thermal waters and caves of Equ Terme, at Frignoli the Botanical Gardens showing the huge variety of indigenous plants. Lunigiana is truly unique in Europe so well placed between mountain and sea yet a still (relatively) undiscovered retreat

It is with pleasure that we offer you the link to Villa Terra di Luna, Tuscany.

Ski: Lunigiana hold its Sagres (Festivals) throughout the year many in Summer celebrating the regional food culture; the wild boar, the truffle each delicacy has its Sagra.

The land is rich and unspoilt its produce of fine quality, authentic taste and flavour. Cheeses particularly pecorino, the famous local breads, honey both acacia & chestnut and the porcini mushroom are unequalled. When buying food all as traditional discuss how to cook it and what to eat with it, the natural passion and delight for the table is shared. Here they grow their herbs, fruit and vegetables, make their own cheese and raise their animals in the time honoured way.

Out of season ingredients are not contemplated why when the variety of fresh and delicious produce is at its very best and so abundant. The food is simple but generous the ingredients speaking both for themselves and in harmony with each other.

The coast abounds in seafood, the delicate white wines a natural match for the glistening daily catch
