About Julie Enck

Tom and I were married in 1991, he has grown up here. I am from northern Pa. Tom comes from a wonderful family, just 14 brothers and sisters. We settled up the road a little to raise our family. We needed more space, so we purchased this property to build the pole barn on and the cottage was an added bonus. After long term renting for many years, we decided it maybe better to try short term renting. As I am very particular with the cleanliness of this place. It is well sanitized after each use, you can rest assure of that.

Julie Enck purchased this cottage in 1995

Why Julie Enck chose Strasburg Township

This area is surrounded by many things that we value so much in our day to day life. Quite country living, with great neighbors, that are scattered around us and these beautiful breathtaking views. We are privileged to take in and we appreciate all around us everyday. But still not to far from all that Lancaster County has to offer. From theater, great schools, to great shopping, community activities, outdoor life , many churches, golfing, many restaurants over a 100 brewers and so much more. We love it here. and we're sure you will too! So come and see for yourself we'll leave the door open for you. :-)

What makes this cottage unique

In just a short 10 min. drive , you'll be in the town of Strasburg. Stop and enjoy your favorite flavor ice cream at the famous Creamery and watch the buggies go by. While in town you can walk to many unique shops . Then take a ride on the railroad , have dinner in the dining car and enjoy the beautiful scenery all around us. Maybe even see Thomas if he is in town.

From there go on up 5 miles to the outlets , see a show at sight and sound lots of shopping at the outlets, or travel a little bit further to unique shops in intercourse, check out the antiques, try one of the many Smorgashbords available, many restaurants. Go into market on Tuesday, Friday and Sat. Take the kids to Dutch wonderland , or Hershey Park is about 50 min. drive for a day of adventure. Maybe take in a baseball game at the Barnstormer stadium, check for what games they have fireworks. You can travel on up for a day in Gettysburg, a nice drive up route 30, or down to Washington DC.(2 1/2 hrs), or maybe Philadelphia(1 1/2). You won't be bored unless you want to be. Hope to see you soon.

Very nice, clean, great family time

  • 5 of 5

My family visited for four nights in early August. It rained a lot while we were there but it didn’t stop us from having a good time. We had fun playing pool and card games in the basement. Restaurants and ‘city’ stuff are about a 20 min drive away. Great Outlet shopping! We went to Rita’s and Sonic at least 3 times each! We never get those where we live. The house was super clean, plenty of towels and good soft linens. The Kuerig in the kitchen is a huge plus. Basic stock items were there like spices, paper plates, paper towels. The master bedroom has a double bed and it faces the road, that was a little hard for us who aren’t used to road noise, but we put a fan in the room and it drowned it out. The basement is fun but a little damp feeling. Didn’t bother us though, no one slept down there. We just played games.

Julie works really hard on this place to make it feel like home, and it shows. Great place to stay, we would definitely go back! Thanks for the hospitality Julie!

Owner's Response: April, Happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at The Cottage, and got good use out of the game room. To bad about all the rain , for your whole stay. Sorry to hear was still little damp in the basement. the guest before you turned off the dehumidifier. Be sure Next time flip the heater on fireplace for a few mins. , that would of done the trick. Also had to read twice, about the master, thought maybe had the wrong house, the queen bed faces the backyard and the surrounding farmland. Wanted to tell you next time try out Son's in Quarryville voted best in the county for ice cream, you'll love it. You guys were great guests to have, thanks for taking such good care of the place . Hope to have you on a return trip to the area. Many Blessings.

Peaceful beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

We loved the little cottage! Everything we needed was there...it was clean and well stocked. We were so close to everything we had planned. We especially enjoyed watching the hard working Amish family planting their field, their children waking to school and hearing the clip clop of the horses pulling the buggies.

Cozy during a blustery week in winter

  • 5 of 5

I'm overdue for this review, and I apologize to the owners. This cottage was wonderful. My family and I truly enjoyed our stay here. The memories created here will forever remain. We stayed here during the week of new year's, and it was mostly a blustery week. The winds were strong and freezing as one of those big nor'easter storms was pushing through most of the eastern seaboard. The cottage was an amazing, cozy and warm refuge. We enjoyed the stock of games down in the basement, especially the pool table. The beds were comfy and provided great rest. The kitchen was stocked well for our family of 6 (4 smaller/younger kids). Julie, the owner was friendly and very helpful. On one of the evenings that we were out exploring, between the snow and the wind, she came out and shoveled and cleared the driveway for our return. It really is down the street from a good lineup of local activities and shopping. It was a beautiful place, situated not far from everything we were interested in doing. We're grateful for Julie's efforts and hosting. Thank you!

Beautful cottage with a great yard and the best indoor entertainment

  • 5 of 5

We had a really wonderful time in this very clean and well-organized cottage. The house itself is a gem, with plenty of space and a small but well turned out kitchen. Good shower and we had no problems with the water system. Furniture is comfy and the place was immaculate. The owner provided many small touches that made the stay easy and fun.

The best part of the stay was entertainment. Not only is there a lovely backyard with plenty of space for tossing a ball or flying toy airplains, there are two great game systems (wii and Xbox) and plenty of gamers for each. The systems are nicely organized so getting them connected is a breeze.

Place is about 20 minutes from downtown Lancaster with plenty to do and see wihin 30 minute drive. Terrific responses from Julie every step of the way.

I highly recommend White Oak Cottage.

Cute house in the countryside

  • 5 of 5

We had an enjoyable weekend away. The house had plenty of space for 4 adults and a baby. The downstairs games area is a nice addition. The views are lovely and the house had everything we needed. Nice location for visiting local towns.
