Scenic location, great service, a few minor issues

  • 4 of 5

Loved the creekfront location and the excellent directions and advance recommendations on what to bring. John further showed us around the house when we arrived and was delightful. The house was warm and cozy and the view is beautiful. The amenities were appreciated, though the house is a bit dated. We could smell the water too, but had been forewarned and brought our own. Everything worked and the weather (mostly) cooperated.

The only things we missed were total privacy (we didn't realize there were several cabins all close together; a neighbor was especially chatty) and regular TV channels (we could get DirectTV but not NBC so we missed the football games, but that might have been our lack of TV experience rather than the service). We biked for miles, enjoyed the fall colors, went to the Grand Canyon of PA, saw eagles and several deer) and enjoyed our stay enormously.

Cozy Cabin

  • 4 of 5

This cabin is in great location, right near entrance to Little Pine Creek SP and a few mile from the Pine Creek bike trail. Accommodation are nice and rustic. Nice deck with creek running through the back property. May want to bring bottled water as tap water has strong sulfur taste.

Owner's Response: We enjoyed having these tenants. They were excellent. They are correct about the water., We are in the Marcelles Shale area which has natural gas filled shale about a mile below the ground. Some of the gas seeps up through the rock and is picked up by the water. We do have filters on all of our cottages, but the filters are not 100% effective in getting all of the sulpher aroma out. We also recommend bringing your own water for drinking, even though the water, here is safe to drink. dick heylmun

Lovely setting

  • 2 of 5

We had a relaxing time at the Bear cabin. It was very clean. The scenery was beautiful! We did how ever have a problem with the water. We were told to bring drinking water as their water needed getting used to. However the water smelled !!!!! We could not handle this smell to use the water for anything!!! We went and bought gallons of spring water. Other than this we did enjoy our stay.

Perfect cabin for our group

  • 5 of 5

The Pine Creek Hospitality cabin (Turkey Lodge) was a great location for our group during the Eastern States 100 weekend. The cabin was very roomy with plenty of living and sleeping space. The kitchen amenities were up to date and worked fine. Wi-fi access and satellite TV were bonus features in this remote area. The owners and site manager were very friendly and hospitable and communicated with us prior to, during and after our stay. Thanks to everyone for making our stay enjoyable.

Beautiful location for peace and quiet.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here recently and enjoyed our few days here. Shame we would not have extended our trip. Unfortunately the weather slightly spoilt things but even so this was a delightful stop off on our road trip and certainly with the different deel we were after.

Many thanks to John who waited for our somewhat late arrival. Kids were suitable scared when he mentioned the rattlesnakes.

We did not see bear but did see quite a lot of other animals. The near by 'grand CAnyon' was very impressive and Wellsboro was charming. If I have the change I will return so I can experience the Pine Creek trail as well as the local eateries.

Great location- Trout stream in your backyard; trails and vistas nearby

  • 5 of 5

We took are four kids to stay at Bear Cabin for two nights. The cabin is small but the pics and details paint an accurate impression. The best part of this cabin is the location. Little Pine Creek runs right through the backyard. There's a fire ring down by the stream with a bench and a chair swing nearby. The kids loved the chair swing and sitting by the fire each night. While you have about an hour drive to the northern end of Pine Creek Gorge, where the two best known overlooks are, we found the surrounding Waterville-area just as scenic. There's a great DCNR facility nearby (that the owner directed us to) that serves as something of a visitor center to the area. The Pine Creek Rail Trail is easily accessible from Waterville and both the immediate northern and southern sections are beautiful. We booked this last minute and asked the owner to change one or our nights after seeing a poor weather forecast. He was very accommodating and the property manager was also great to deal with. This cabin is nothing fancy but it satisfied all of our needs. We'd rent again with no hesitation; I think that says it all.

Owner's Response: Josh, thank you for your kind words. We appreciate your thoughts. I do have one request. That is: to like us on facebook, and to possibly make some comments. there, as well. Glad you and the kids enjoyed yourselves. I personally like to sit on the swing down by the creek and do a little reading, as well. Dick Heylmun
