About Randy Emelo

We live in Thornton Colorado just two hours away from our mountain home. Our family has thoroughly enjoyed creating lifetime memories here in the Fraser valley.

Randy Emelo purchased this condo in 2006

Why Randy Emelo chose Northwest

We chose Granby Ranch after looking at the other colorado mountain communities and decided that we liked the convenience of only being two hours away and the secluded nature of the Fraser Valley.

What makes this condo unique

We have a full featured four season resort environment that is still the best kept secret in Colorado. Just steps away from world class eating, skiing, fishing, hiking, and biking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We wanted to drop you a quick note to say how much we enjoyed your condo. It was perfect for our weekend getaway. We had four kids with is, ages 10-14, and they loved the convenience of skiing down to the lodge and the hot tub.

We have stayed at several Mountainside condos over the past 7 years of coming to Granby and yours has been the cleanest with most amenities. We will keep your condo in mind for our future visits to Granby.

Have a great day!

Comfortable, clean, scenic

  • 5 of 5

We came to ski over President's weekend. Two adults, three teenage boys. The condo was well positioned off the main slope for ski-in-ski-out access (#101 is near the far end of the complex, slope-side). Hot tub was a great feature. Window view of slope runs was a bonus. Kitchen has everything you need to cook. We also enjoyed a dinner at the Granby Lodge restaurant. Beds were comfortable, however the main pull-out couch is not ideal sleeping conditions (maybe for small children or bring a blow-up mattress). Granby Ranch is a great ski resort for families, and this condo is a fantastic choice. We would come back again.

Perfect Place to Stay at Granby Ranch!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at Randy's Mountainside unit August 3-9th, 2017. This is our fourth time at Mountainside, but the first booking through VRBO or staying in a privately owned condo.

First, Randy is great to work with. He is very quick to respond via email on VRBO, and also responds within minutes via text when I had questions for him while at the unit. There were a couple of maintenance things that we sorted out, like the hot tub being a little low on water, and Randy was very attentive to get things fixed. Maintenance was at the room within minutes of me telling him about the low water level so they could test the chemicals.

The unit itself is great and has a lot of little touches that made the trip special. All the other trips we have made were to units owned by time share companies. You get the basic things like plates, towels, and toilet paper, and that's about it. In Randy's unit, it's like being at home. Some of the things that stand out are:

- Over 100 DVD's of all genres to choose from

- Tons of board games to play

- All kinds of pool accessories like pool noodles, goggles, etc.

- Comfy blankets in the living room and very comfortable furniture

- Welcome basket with snacks

- Lots of toiletries like Q-tips, cotton balls, etc.

- All the kitchen utensils you'll need including pots, pans, cutting boards, crockpot, coffee maker, etc.

- All kinds of information on area activities, eateries, etc. Even all the room keys have City Market key fobs so you can save money at the local supermarket!

The unit has been updated extensively and has very nice bathrooms and kitchen. The fireplace works great for cool mornings, and the deck has a great view of the valley even though it's on the first floor. We spent a lot of time sipping wine/coffee and watching the hummingbirds fly in and out of the pine trees just off the deck.

There is so much to do in Granby Ranch as well. The golf course is a must-do if you're a golfer. We played several rounds and the rates are very reasonable. If you have a mountain bike, bring it during the summer. The chair lift which is about 100 yards from the unit lets you take your bike up to ride down. Tickets are reasonable, but they only do it Sunday through Wednesdays. There is river fishing in Granby as well as Hot Sulphur Springs and up to Kremmling. We also did horseback riding at Snow Mountain Ranch which is just a few miles down the highway.

This is a great place to spend a week or two and it is highly recommended!

Nice, cozy,modern updates

  • 4 of 5

Condo was nice and had everything we needed. It's in a very quiet area with grocery store near by. More than enough room for our family of five. Short beautiful drive to grand lake and rmnp, where we spent most of our time. Hot tub was nice even in July. Loved staying at this condo in Granby.

Owner's Response: The City Market that is just across the highway from the condo is a great grocery store, and I am glad that you pointed that out. I also agree with your comments regarding the hot tub. It was one of the main reasons that we bought this condo. I love watching the sunset in the hot tub even in July.

Not exactly what we thought it would be.

  • 3 of 5

When we booked this, we assumed it would be a ground floor condo, but no, we climbed up stairs, down stairs and back up stairs to reach our condo room. The master bedroom had a hot tub in it and the pump came on every 4 hours. The owner did tell us how to turn it off at night, which was a big help. The condo itself was fine, just needed some air by way of fans or air conditioning. The location was great. Overall, we had a good experience.

Owner's Response: Although the condo is on the ground floor there are stairs leading from the parking lot to the condo. I apologize for your discomfort and I appreciate you pointing this issue out to others who may not be able to transverse stairs easily. For future reference there is a fan in the second bedroom closet. I am glad that you enjoyed the location.

Mountain Solitude with a View

  • 5 of 5

Very well equipped kitchen. Great views from the kitchen/dining and living room. Hot tub in the master bedroom is unusual, but it worked. Read the hot tub instructions to turn the hot tub off at night so the auto filtration motor doesn't come on. Accommodated 4 adults and 2 little grandkids very nicely. Thanks.

Great location for area attractions

  • 4 of 5

The family really enjoyed the condo. Our daughters, 9 and 5, really enjoyed the pool and swings. We found the pool was nicely maintained and clean. We also had a good time using the hot tub in the unit.

We found the location of this condo ideal. We spent time in Grand Lake and Winter Park and this condo is just about in the middle. We liked how close it was to the grocery store and other places to eat. Being on the backside of the mountain, the surrounding area was very peaceful and beautiful. Granby Ranch golf was a very nice course and great way to unwind in the evening.

The only things we found negative with this condo was the hot tub runs through cycles and the noise can be jolting at night. However, turning off the breaker during the night fixed that issue. This condo is also on the backside of the units and a bit of a walk from the parking lot. If you have trouble with stairs, this unit may be more difficult to get to. There is a community gas grill right outside the unit, but we found it in very poor condition. It was very dirty and the burners were clogged with gunk so it's hard to light and stay lit. We had to finish the burgers on the stove. We were very pleased with the variety of cooking utensils and cookware. The grill is maintained by the complex not the owner of this condo.

Randy, the owner of this unit, was very easy to work with and helpful when a couple issues with the key cards came up. ***A bit of a heads up... Keep the keycards away from cellphones and credit cards, they will deactivate them. We had to go to the office a couple times to have them re-activated. No issues after we kept them separated.

We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again next time we visit the area.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. As you noted, the hot tub cycles several times a day to circulate the water. Our condo also has a valley facing view and is a few more steps away from the parking lot. The walkway is a bit rustic with metal trends which come in handy in the winter, but need to be transversed with care.
