Main level master suite with old fashioned claw foot tub, a sleeping porch/office with a twin bed, and a living area and open floor plan kitchen. Sit, rest, read and soak in the magnificent view. On the lower level you will find a large private guest bedroom with a wall of windows opening to the mountains. A comfortable den with TV separates this guest room from a welcoming bedroom with built in twin bed loft and a second twin bed--great for children or other visitors. The second den on the lower level gives children/friends their own 'space' if you are visiting or wish for quiet on the main level. We welcome well behaved dogs, and have a outdoor fenced area and plenty of places to walk your dog on a leash. Internet, cable, books, art supplies, woods, walking, toys: something for everyone!
Our family lives full-time in Durham, NC.. Beth is a quilter and fabric artist; Rob, a fund raiser. We have lived part-time in the Laurel HIll neighborhood for 25 years.
We are readers, and have a library inside, and a 'Free Little Library' outside. Novels, cookbooks, poetry, and books about this remarkable part of the world are all around. Enjoy.
We are an artistic family and enjoy painting, sewing, quilting, etc. You will find plenty of art supplies and a sewing machine that we share with interested visitors.
Beth Taylor purchased this house in 2012
We love this home and the area. Three generations have absolutely loved Boone, Blowing Rock, and Deep Gap.
Our home offers tucked away rooms and a bigger gathering room along with pine floors in every room. A very livable house with a beautiful view invites you into this world of comfort, peace, and enjoyment of these Blue Ridge Mountains. We are close to both Boone and Blowing Rock, and all the activities they offer. We work with visitors to be sure you have the best possible visit to our home. In the best sort of ways, time seems to slow down in Laurel Hill. The moment you drive up the mountain, we think you will feel the peace and calm.
This wonderful home is set among trees facing the mountains. It is a very private home in a safe, wooded, walking, quiet neighborhood. We are positioned at 4800 feet up the mountain. We offer the best of both worlds---plenty of privacy on the street side of house with windows everywhere on the mountain view side. Laurel Hill is a neighborhood with private streets on which only a few cars travel. Silence and pitch black nights allow for plenty of star gazing and night walks. Carefully designed home. It is a house that 'works' super well. When you walk in to the entry hall, you see a beautiful view and feel the warmth and peace of this special one of kind home.
We call our home 'Caritas' -- love for all humankind and charity--generosity. This house feels like 'caritas' to our family and we hope it will feel this way to you, our visitors.
The property provided the perfect holiday getaway for our family. The owner was available at all times to answer questions and went out of her way to make sure all our needs were met. The home as spacious and provided us will amazing views of the surrounding areas. We did some shopping and skiing while there over Christmas and found the home was centrally located for our activities. The kitchen was fully equipment which made preparing a holiday meal easy. Our children, ages 17, 11, and 9 are my toughest vacation critics and they gave me five stars on choosing this property. We are looking forward to staying in the home again for any upcoming visits.
The views were absolutely amazing and the cozy home helped us to relax as well!!! We were so excited to find a little playset out back for our toddler to play on, along with tubs of toys to keep her entertained for hours! The home had every book you could think of, and a huge collection of board games, cards, and puzzles. We had a small set back with the plumbing in on of the bathrooms, and the owner went above and beyond to make things right. We will definitely be staying here again!!!
Peaceful and relaxing! Pictures don't do justice for this home. The kids loved the space inside and outside. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed while cooking.
The house was much more beautiful than described or can be seen in the pictures: a gorgeous cabin in the woods with a rustic feel, tastefully decorated but with modern amenities. The neighborhood is beautiful and very private. Its location off of the Blue Ridge Parkway makes for an excellent drive! My 6 yr old daughter and her friend just wanted to stay in the cabin playing with the numerous toys in the basement room. They kids bedroom was just perfect for them to sleep in and give the parents time off from taking care of them!
The location is great -- its only about 10 mins or less from Tweetsie and about 12 minutes from nice restaurants in Blowing rock.
Just returned from a lovely stay at Laurel Hill. The house is truly welcoming, clean and comfortable and we immediately relaxed and felt 'away from it all'. Location is perfect, just minutes by car to the Parkway with great hiking trails close by and a very short car ride to Blowing Rock/Boone. Beth couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating and was a pleasure to work with over the details of our trip. Highly recommend this property and look forward to booking again. Thank You!
Just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile marker 288. 10 minutes from Boone and Blowing Rock. 10 minutes from Tweetsie Railroad.
