About the property

3 BR/1.5 BA, Downtown Cottage

Ready to relax, rejuvenate, Enjoy? Our three bedroom one and one half bath fisherman's cottage is THE place to do that. Just 8 blocks to downtown, you can enjoy living in a small village, three miles into the Gulf of Mexico. Come back to the good life!

Walking is the way here, you are only 8 blocks to EVERYTHING.

Only 1/2 block to panoramic Spectacular sunsets, or you can enjoy them from the screen porch with swing-yes, it faces directly west. Want a close up, take your breath away view of the sunset? Walk down to our shared dock, sit at the end, perched over Goose Cove, and REVEL in the colors, the sounds, the beauty of Cedar Key's finest sunsets. You can sit and watch the tides flow, the birds winging out for the day, and then, at the end of your stress free day, watch them wing back in.

We have a fully equipped home, waiting for your stay. Go fishing in the morning, come home to have today's catch for dinner! Not in the mood to cook tonight? We are centrally located to All of Cedar Key's fine restaurants, including the downtown, Dock Street and the smaller cafes along State Road 24. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are less than a 10 minute walk. From elegance to down home, all your food fantasies can be fulfilled in Cedar Key.

We offer a large living room, with two comfortable sofas, several easy chairs and satellite TV for your indoor relaxation. We are also connected to the real world, if need be, with UVerse wireless internet. (just don't tell the boss-we won't.)

A separate dining room opens from both the kitchen and the living room, with seating for 4, brightly lit by natural sunlight, if you must stay indoors, this room makes you sure you are really not.

Fully equipped kitchen, with service for 8, including a full size refrigerator, a large pantry, electric range-you are going to feel like you can stay forever.

The three bedrooms are all connected, with the master bedroom having a queen bed and flat screen TV. The smaller bedroom has twin beds, and the the third bedroom has a double and is also the laundry room. Our half bath is located n this room, just steps from the kitchen.

The bath is large, with a step in full size shower.

All rooms are well lit, mostly by natural sunlight, but at night the glow of the many lamps will give you plenty of light for board games or a great card game. The flat screen TV is modern, and you can watch DVDs or bring your game player. With Uverse, you can bring your Netflix account and watch any movie you wish, or we have a small video library.

The screen porch is likely where you spend most of your time and we have equipped it with two colorful Adirondack chairs, the swing and several smaller tables to make you time in Cedar Key very comfortable. We want you to love Pete's Retreat as much as we do.

The yard is large, with plenty of parking for you car and boat, or have a picnic under the palm trees, there is plenty of room. Or rent a golf cart while you are here, there is plenty of room to park!

We provide all linens, paper products, dishes, pots and pans, in short, all you need bring are your groceries. We ask that you remember we are an island and ask that you use the utilities and resources wisely, including utilizing our curbside recycling.

We love our dog, so we ask that you bring yours with you; we do, however, ask for a non refundable pet fee.

Come, enjoy, relax, rejuvenate, Cedar Key is THE place to do just that. Now we can offer you waterfront access with our community shared dock. While we can't give you fishing tips, we recommend you learn the tides, as Cedar Key is VERY tide dependent ...but as an old salt reminded us once, 'you haven't been fishing until you've been stranded'.

Why Jennie Pinto chose Florida North Central

Cedar Key is where we have been looking to spend our time, we want to retire here, enjoy the sea breezes, the fishing, the small town atmosphere. We like older architecture, this home was built 1920 and was the home of a local fisherman/preacher. He raised his family here, we want to enjoy the same life.

What makes this cottage unique

This house is situated downtown, close enough to walk anywhere, but just far enough away for privacy. Perched on one of Cedar Key's highest points, we catch any breezes, yet we are only 1/2 block to Goose Cove and the specatular sunsets afforded by the direct west exposure.

The perfect Memorial Day Weekend Get-Away

  • 4 of 5

I have learned again to not judge a book by it's cover. Pete's Retreat is no palace from the outside. Old, rough and weathered, but when you step on the porch it starts warming up. Start off by letting the screen door slam behind you and you'll hear your Mom say, "If you let that screen door slam one more time.....", it brings back memories. Then when you step inside it is so cute, cozy and clean. GREAT WATER PRESSURE AND NICE SOFT WATER!! Kitchen fully equipped. Grill is small/portable charcoal but served the purpose. Plenty of towels, linens, and beautiful comforters. Family brought their boat and we were able to tie up to the fabulous dock. Very quiet area and a perfect distance from the hub of things. We are so very glad that we brought a golf cart. It's a must to enjoy Cedar Key to the fullest. Just really hated to leave but can't wait to go back. Thanks to Jennie Pinto for making sure everything went as planned. The Lewis' from Alachua

Owner's Response: So very happy you enjoyed the house! It is a rustic appearing home, but so nice inside. I love the screen porch! Perfect way to catch the breee and watch the sunset if you don't wander all the 150 feet to the pocket park for the unobstructed view! Yes, the charm of old Florida with modern conveniences is what we strive for, so glad you appreciated the little touches. Please come back! We love return guests!

Great place to stay

  • 4 of 5

It was a great place to stay. It was quiet and clean. The porch is great. The only negative thing I can think of is the AC. It can get a little warm in the master bedroom but I would stay again.

Owner's Response: So happy you enjoyed the house. Next on our list of upgrades is central AC, so likely the next time you'll be "frosty". Hurry back, we would love to show you our planned improvements.

Great Mini Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. This house was just close enough to everything in town and not feel like you were in a city. The kitchen had everything we needed. Plenty of Towels. (And toilet paper). The kids favorite part was walking down to Holey Moley Donut shop (May have the spelling wrong). Yum! Jennie gave us great advise on places to eat. The sunset was beautiful from the dock and the dolphins surprised us as we were swimming near by one of the sand bars.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed the house! Yes, toilet paper is IMPORTANT! We do "hide it" though! I love the location, just close enough to be in town in minutes, yet tucked back for privacy. That sunset is FANTASTIC, and you can watch it from the pocket park at the end of the street, on the communal dock, OR from the screen porch. Thank you for the kind words and hope to see YOU again.

Cozy and comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

Our girls trip in cedar key was amazing! The house had everything we need to be comfortable the whole time. The very short walk to the views and dock were great. We highly recommend renting a golf cart to get around town! It was so much fun. We will be back.

Owner's Response: So happy the girls weekend was a success! The house is large enough to have a reunion and the layout lends to easy mingling amongst friends. The "pocket park" just 100 fee from the house is great for watching the sunsets, isn't it? While being shaded for those are nice, just another 100 feet and you can sun on the dock while watching the sun set and the birds and the water life and even drop a line for a fish! Hope to see you ALL again soon!

We had never been to Cedar Key. We booked our house with Jennie who was so nice to work with. We stayed in Pete's Retreat which an older home but very comfortable. We had everything we needed. The house was very clean and made our stay in cedar key alot of fun. Thank you, Jennie. Hope to see you again.

Great place to see

  • 3 of 5

Pete's Retreat is a very comfortable little house in a quaint little town in a wonderful area. It is however a little over-priced for it's age and condition. The property manager, Jennie Pinto, is wonderfully accommodating.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words. We are upgrading each week, new sheets are on order, and we do have plans for central heat and air. Glad you enjoyed our town, we are a quiet laid back small town, and the fishing and sunsets are marvelous at this location!
