Four bedrooms upstairs - one king, two queen and one single which doubles as an office. Main floor includes dining room with original wainscoting seating 12 and living room with fireplace. Kitchen has stainless steel appliances with new counter tops and table seating 4-6, and leads onto comfortable family room and lovely large deck with patio seating and barbeque. Smart tv's and Netflix on both floors.

We are a family of 5 and have raised our 3 children in our house. Our kids are taking off on their own adventures and so are we!

Why Maureen chose Vancouver

This particular neighbourhood was always our favourite in Vancouver so when the opportunity arose - 24 years ago - for us to buy this fantastic big bright house we jumped at it. We make use of the beach on a daily basis, for walking, cycling and just hanging out. We have 2 local supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and numerous mom-and-pop stores moments away. The bus routes are fantastic, providing access to the whole city. We also love that we can cycle anywhere, and be downtown or up at the University in 20 minutes.

What makes this house unique

We loved the house the moment we saw it. The fact that it is on a corner lot makes it very bright and private. The hundred year old house has masses of windows - stained glass mostly - hardwood floors, large airy rooms and lots of space to spread ourselves out in. We have renovated the house twice over the decades both to update and to fill our changing needs as our family grew, and then left home. We love the deck off the kitchen and spend the entire summer barbequing and eating outdoors.

1807 Dunbar Supplied Everything We Needed

The location of the house was perfect for us, within two blocks of the magnificent beach with its views of ships, sailing boats and skyscrapers of Vancouver, surmounted by snow-capped mountains. It is a mere 5 minute walk to 4th Avenue, the main shopping street of Kitsilano, with its charming restaurants, cafés, yoga studios and bookstores as wells as all the groceries and wine you need.

The house, built circa 1912, and recently renovated, is in beautiful condition, and provides many well designed rooms for reading, computer work, tv watching and social gatherings. It is a lovely combination of old stained glass windows, original intricate flooring and modern convenience. An added bonus was the welcoming collection of books to delve into, and the beautiful ceramics and art collection to admire.

The bedrooms are spacious, the beds comfortable, and the very large upstairs bathroom is recently renovated, with a walk-in shower and all amenities, including washer and dryer.

The owners, Maureen and Frank, were kind, generous and helpful to us. We will definitely return!

Our home is located in a wonderful tree-lined neighbourhood, steps from buses, stores and the beach. Local supermarkets, banks, restaurants and stores within 2 minute walk. Fabulous long beach walks a must at sunset. Great cycle routes make downtown and the University of British Columbia a pleasant 20 minute ride.
