Round House On The Beach

Bedrooms 2
Space 900 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

2 bdrm; one bath; spacious beach house

You'll feel special as soon as you enter the front door. Surrounded by windows that look out at the Pacific Ocean, you'll immediately feel how special this vacation is going to be. This 15-sided 'round house' is unique in size, appearance, and access to the beach. A spacious two-bed, one bath home, you will be so close to the beach that you might get sand in your toes just standing on the front deck.

On a crystal clear night you might want to try your luck at seeing the 'green flash' (a unique weather phenomenon that occurs immediately after the sun goes down at which time the green light rays momentarily dominate the color spectrum -- look it up).

Walking on the beach immediately in front of our house you could see flocks of pelicans that are migrating north. Or a short walk down the beach leads you to the puffin rookery on Haystack Rock.

During much of the summer, the creek which passes in front of the house is almost warm enough to walk in. At low tide, it's always low enough to cross, leading you to the secluded north end of the beach by Ecola State Park. And, if you're adventuresome, you can pull out our 4-person inflatable raft and paddle yourself up the creek into the natural forest that borders the east edge of town. There you will see beaver, birds, and bodacious wild life. All this within 1/2 mile of your front yard.

And ... we haven't even mentioned the life in town, with some of the nicest restaurants on the coast, the absolute best candy store, and a few clothing stores that make you wonder why you don't come here more often. In town you can rent bicycles, or three-wheeled peddle bikes that you can take out on the beach. The kite shop provides enjoyment for the eyes as well as images of running on the beach with a special kite behind you.

And, if it's raining (a real possibility on the Oregon coast) there are more games, puzzles, books, DVDs, and videos than you can watch in a lifetime.

About Cindy and Bart Wilson

The owners are in their mid-sixties and have never gotten tired of the fun they have at the Oregon coast. We are over-worked and under-leisured (is that a word). We have started to travel elsewhere in the world, but always love coming back to our Cannon Beach Getaway.

Cindy and Bart Wilson purchased this house in 1970

Why Cindy and Bart Wilson chose Northern Coast

My wife grew up spending all her weekends at Cannon Beach with parents and friends of the family. When her dad had to retire it wasn't even a question of where he would end up -- at the beach. After a few years, he bought the land and built this beautiful 15-sided 'round house.' My wife inherited it and we have kept it up to code and periodically make the repairs that the beach environment requires.

What makes this house unique

You'll never get a better, quieter, or more beautiful view of Cannon Beach than you will from the balcony (or living room) of this house.

Lovely, quiet place with an ocean view.

Enjoyed staying here. It was quiet and clean. Had lots of windows to enjoy viewing the ocean and Ecola Creek. Was within a short driving distance to many interesting, exciting activities.

Roar of the Waves

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying here! It was so convenient to everything, which made it fun. With three kids it was wonderful not to have to load in and out of a car the whole time. However, it's an upper unit and with how loud we were (and with a baby that woke up during the night), I'm sure the downstairs neighbors were more than happy to see us go.

Owner's Response: No worries about noise! Our long term tenants are used to short term guests above, and have assured us repeatedly that they are not disturbed by exuberant vacationers. Residents and short term renters have co-existed peacefully for years, have totally separate entrances, and often aren't even aware of each other's presence. When you stay in our 15-sided round house, you'll feel like you're in a tree house overlooking Ecola Creek, the beach, and the ocean.

The round house was perfect for a wonderful Cannon Beach vacation!

  • 5 of 5

The house is in a great location, ideal for vacationing on the beach with young kids. Having Ecola Creek just outside our door was perfect. The adults could relax while the little ones played in the calm, shallow water. It's also a quick walk to just about anywhere in town. The house is lovely - very well maintained and equipped. It was on the cool side when we were there, so having the fireplace was a delightful plus! We loved having such a nice yard. Again, such an appreciated feature when vacationing with children. Overall: the house is great (we'd love to stay there again), the views are incredible, the location is superb. Five stars from these happy Cannon Beach vacationers.

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place! I am glad I read the reviews to know that it is in fact not a single family home, but the rental is the upper half of a duplex with a unit over the garage on the property as well. So going in I was prepared for that. I am sure the other residents were there, but we never heard a sound from them. Privacy is not an issue. The unit is in a fantastic location with morning lattes and long walks on the beach right at our door step. If you enjoy nature, Echola State Park is an easy walk and doing so at sunrise was a real treat - elk, tidal pools full of star fish and other sea life, and those fabulous rocks! The owners were so very responsive to any question I had. The kitchen has every gadget needed. Grilling on the deck was nice too. Beds were very comfortable. Nice selection of DVDs for those couple of nights our family just wanted to chill. Cindy, I would suggest that in the pictures of the property you have one that shows the view from the dinner table...its hard to concentrate on your food with a view that is so mesmerizing! (and by the way, that table is wonderful)

Beautiful Quiet amongst the Trees!

  • 5 of 5

This condo is so peaceful, quiet, and it feels like you are in a tree house! It is located in North Cannon beach on elk creek (ecola creek) which tends to be a bit quieter. With windows basically everywhere you look you can get an amazing cross breeze going AND amazing views! We had a wedding on the beach just out front of the house and had a semi-quiet dinner after on the big grassy lawn - It was amazing and beautiful, better than I could have imagined. The house came very well equipped, the only thing we ran out of was toilet paper which was likely an error by cleaning company! That was fun! haha!! This is a duplex HOWEVER, the neighbors are so nice and super quiet - in fact the only time we saw or heard them was when they congratulated us and when they were taking their trash out. It was perfect. It is also walking (or stumbling) distance from anywhere north of Haystack! We would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful stay by the beach!

  • 5 of 5

This house is situated towards the north part of the town close to the Ecola (Elk) creek. That gave kids the option of rowing in the creek or going out to the ocean to play in the waves. The house has a few trees around it offering good shade when the sun gets too hot.

There are many good restaurants within walking distance of the house - this was convenient since some of them had an hour or more wait and we could come back to the house after making the reservation.

The owner is very responsive to questions before the trip as well as during the trip - kids wanted to know were the paddle boat was - my daughter called the owner and got prompt instructions on that.

We had a great trip - can't wait to go back!
