Experience MN, 'Land of 10,000 lakes’, at its best. View the lake from the walls of windows - ice fishing, ice skating, cross-country skiing, wildlife - swim, kayak, fish and waterski in season. Local bars, cafes and shopping within minutes.
Stunning Lakeside home - nestled in trees. Minutes from Minneapolis, steps to Wayzata; The wooded setting mixes city and county allowing privacy that gives this property the best of both worlds.
Welcome! This Long Lake property is perfectly designed for intimate family gatherings or small corporate retreats. Large inviting spaces and smaller nooks coexist and invite conversation, interaction or quiet contemplation. Dramatic water views from most every room enhance the experience.
Over an acre of land provides a private setting with an "up-north" woods feeling 28 minutes from Minneapolis and the airport.
On the main floor, a gourmet kitchen and large dining/living area overlook the lake. Adjoining this area, a covered deck provides smooth transition to the outdoors.
Downstairs is a bar, poker room, entertainment room, a small exercise area with a rowing machine, and a fully screened porch and open patio. Upstairs, a rooftop deck 'tops' it off with whole lake views and additional seating/gathering areas.
Outside, strategically placed boulders, woods, perennial beds and enticing walking paths extend the ambiance. 210 feet of prime lakeshore serve as a private entrance to Long Lake, a quiet and protected body of water frequented by fisherman, water-skiers and nature lovers.
The changing seasons provide an interesting backdrop to the house, with colorful leaves and late blooming flowers in fall, snow-covered trees and ice-covered lake in winter, early blossoms and the arrival of migrating birds in spring and the wide open waters of Long Lake in view all summer.
Outdoor activities range from snow-shoeing and cross country skiing to biking on nearby Luce Line trail to swimming and boating in season. But most of all, this is a home and property meant for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Outside spaces are set up for rain or shine and ideally elevated to avoid bugs and optimize your lakeshore experience. A fire pit in the trees offers opportunities for secluded campfires and late night storytelling.
Kayaks are available for your use. Power boats and watercraft can be rented from a near-by marina in Delano, Minnesota. Long Lake Rowing Club is just 'down the lake.'
The small private beach is sandy and ideal for swimmers. There is a wading area with a soft bottom. The wading area extends for several yards with a gentle slope before the water becomes deeper.
The property is a few blocks from the bike path and within a mile from small and charming 'downtown' Long Lake. The more developed business area of Wayzata is within biking distance as well, and more extensive shopping and amenities are easily found within 5 miles.
Wood Rill Scientific and Nature Area, about a 10 minute walk from the house, provides walking paths throughout the year.
Lake Minnetonka is less than 3 miles away. Long Lake provides a quieter alternative. This home is situated in a tranquil area. Out of respect for our human and animal neighbors, we allow up to 12 people on the property at any one time. Loud music and noisy gatherings are not able to be accommodated.
The property can provide parking for up to 5 vehicles. There is no street parking available.

Why Ron and Ellen chose Long Lake
The lake! Each season offers a unique perspective and new scenery. The area! Close enough to 'The Cities' to access theatre and restaurants, but ideally situated to retain a remote feeling with the small town of Long Lake just up the road and lakeside dining at Birches within walking distance. My family of 5 came to stay for a week when visiting our daughter who attends the University of Minnesota and we greatly enjoyed our stay. The house was very spacious with 4 comfortable bedrooms and a well stocked kitchen. There were a variety of restaurants nearby. Although we were there during winter being right on the lake was great!
Beautiful and welcoming home
We had a lovely and very family-friendly Christmas celebration in this beautiful home. Accommodations were plentiful and stocked with extra towels, pillows, blankets, hangers, etc. All the items you need and want , but don't always think to bring. We were able to cook a full Christmas dinner and all the necessary dishes, pots, utensils were available. A beautiful location, easy fireplace for family fires, lots of nooks and crannies for folks to use when they needed a break from the crowd. Wonderful living spaces, plenty of storage for the many items we brought so we didn't have to live among our bags and boxes. The location is perfect and easily accessed from intersection of 394 and 494. Simple to get to places for dinner, church, shopping. All in all - exactly what we hoped for our family Christmas away from home. Thank you, Ron and Ellen, for your hospitality and for your delightful property manager, Jody, who made all the details so very easy for us. You have created a beautiful home for your own family and to share with others! We are grateful!
Best summer house ever!!!
Seriously, the best summer vacation house we have ever rented!!! The lake was great to ski/tube. Fishing was awesome in the morning and at night.
Local restaurants in long lake had phenomenal food! Will definitely be coming back to long lake. Ron and Ellen provided us with a wonderful summer retreat. Thanks so much!!!
Perfection by the lake
This spectacular home was the perfect choice to host family on the occasion of our son's graduation from college. Spacious and elegant with stunning lake views and sunsets, the house is super well-equipped and comfortable. Everything top-drawer. Location is quiet and gorgeous but close to Minneapolis. Loved having exercise equipment on site and the gardens are amazing.
One evening, we watched two bald eagles soar overhead from the deck.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us! Could not recommend it more enthusiastically.
Awesome Family Vacation
Everything was wonderful. The owners and house manager are extremely easy to work with and really take the time to make sure that you have all that you need for your stay. Highly recommend this house. We have adult children and we could not have asked for a better location or house set up. It is very spacious and everyone loved all that the house had to offer. This was one of our best family vacations and it had a lot to do with this amazing house.
Fantastic property in a great location!
New Years stay 2016/17 was great! We're a family of 4 from Texas but with family up in Minneapolis and we celebrated an 80th birthday on New Year's Eve at the house with grandparents and one sister and her son. Kitchen appliances worked great and our prime rib dinner turned out perfectly! It's very unusual house architecturally (very cool) and has a beautiful view of the lake - lots of 'wow' factor! We started a fire in the fire pit down by the lake one calm evening and everyone gathered round it. Ice on the lake had just gotten thick enough that ice houses were starting to pop up. Kids made it out on the lake a couple of times sliding around in their boots. Fire's in the indoor fireplace upstairs every morning and every evening made those relaxing moments in the living room even more special. We didn't get a chance to test the downstairs fireplace in that family room - maybe next time.. The caretaker - Jody - is super nice and helpful with recommendations and tips. Although the winter landscape is beautiful, we imagine it's even more special in the summer when the many trees leaf out. Birch's restaurant is pretty good and within walking distance too. This house has a great location - great place!
