Cape May Lover

  • 5 of 5

I Love this house, we have rented it the last 3 years. The house has wonderful Cape May Charm! The front porch is absolutely amazing my family enjoyed many wonderful times on the porch and had lovely dinners on the back deck. The location is outstanding. It's a block from the beach and they supply beach chairs. They have an outside shower that is perfect for the kids to wash off the sand after a beautiful day at the beach. The owners recently updated the kitchen and its gorgeous. Tons of cabinet space, beautiful stainless steal appliances so it has the modern updates yet that classic Victorian charm. There is a huge farm table that is perfect for family dinners or game night! It's very close to the center of town you can walk or ride bikes that are supplied by the owners. You can't go wrong with this gorgeous house. We will continue to come back every year!!!

Love Cape May

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we've stayed at this property and we will be back for a third. We could not decide what we liked better the front porch, back deck or second floor porch with a view of the ocean. The new kitchen and breakfast area was a very nice surprise. The large diningroom table easily fit our family and guests. Being on the beach block was fantastic. A quick walk around the corner and we were there. We rode the bikes every day. This house is special and we had a great time in Cape May.

Another Great Stay at 1020 Stockton

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year spending July 4th week at this awesome beach block house and we are planning to rebook again next year. The house has been dramatically updated since our last visit. New kitchen, appliances, countertops etc along with a giant dining room table for big family dinners. (We had two adults, our two kids and rotating groups of their teenage friends). My kids loved having beach bikes to ride on around town and it was nice to have a set of extra beach chairs. My daughter had 4 friends visit during the week and it was great that they could all share a room and have their own beds. We love the location - an easy walk or bike into town and only a short block to the beach. When we didn't feel like cooking, we picked up sandwiches and salads (and a few bottles of wine) at Harry's Bar and Grille which is directly behind the house. (We also got the BEST bagels at Bagel Time, which is 3 blocks away at the Maycomber Hotel). We LOVE this house. It's classic Cape May charm with modern updates. We highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for the perfect Cape May experience.

Victorian charm with updates comfortd

  • 5 of 5

After spending a wonderful Thanksgivng weekend in this lovely ocean block victorian home, we decided to return for an early summer week.

We are 3 generations with children ranging from a 6 year old to teen agers along with their parents and grandparents.

In November with cooler weather much of our time was indoors with a lot of time spent cooking and eating.

The beautiful dining room table held all of the adults at Thanksgiving dinner and the kids were happy to have their own space at the table in the nook off the kitchen. Everything we needed to prepare a dinner for a large group of 14 was available and working.

We were looking forward to a summer visit being even better since the house is on beach block and a short walk to the shops and restaurants.

Imagine our surprise when we returned to the house a couple of weeks ago and found some new and wonderful changes. The kitchen has been totally renovated with new cabinets and quality appliances, an island with seating and a table that comfortably seats four. Additional furniture in the living room has made it an even more spacious gathering place. This place is beautiful and new and yet has retained its charming victorian appeal. My favorite spot was the wrap around porch where I not only enjoyed my morning coffee but also was able to sit and watch and talk with friendly vacationers on their way to the beach. The kids loved the outdoor shower and it made housekeeping pretty easy for the adults No one entered the house after time in the sand without a quick shower.

We are all looking forward to another visit to Cape May and this lovely home.

Very Disapointed!

  • 2 of 5

We rented this house for our family reunion after the real estate agent talked us into it. We were far from impressed! The house does have some great features but the bad features outweighed the good for our family of 12. The house is VERY outdated and very little has been done to maintain the house. From cosmetic stuff like: lights being out, rusty windows, rusty and broken screen doors, cabinets falling off hinges in bathrooms, and no grilling utensils with a grill that was out of gas. On the major things: NO downstairs AC at all to malfunctioning TVs and no DVD player for kids, the house was just not worth the money. The good features include: great location, great porch, great yard, great views, great sleeping arrangements, and a nice kitchen. The house is so outdated for what they charge a week. Hopefully over the next few years the owners start putting more time and effort into this house. It has great potential with a little TLC.

Owner's Response: Hello, We are so sorry you were so disappointed with your stay. As advertised this home does not have AC on the first floor or DVD players. In the description we clearly state that there are six window AC units, one unit for each of the six bedrooms. As far as malfunctioning TV's we wish this was brought to our attention and we would have tried to help facilitate a resolution with Comcast. The home underwent extensive renovations over this winter and has a brand new kitchen and dining room. So as far as being maintained we are sorry you feel this way. Also there was an extra propane tank available to you which you ended up using for the grill. We are sorry you do not feel the price is fair but for being one block off of the beach and comfortably accommodating a party of 14 at $4500 for the week you chose that is $321 a week per individual. Other homes on Stockton command almost twice that amount so we feel this is more than fair. The owners of this property continually upgrade this property, last year was brand new electrical for the whole home, this year was the first floor renovation. Central Air conditioning for the home is a possibility the owner is looking into for the future.

Perfect beach house!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here the week of July 4th and we have rebooked again for this year. The house is perfect for our family (2 teenagers) and their friends and so close to the beach. We loved sitting on the front porch in the evening and walking/biking into town. We outdoor shower is perfect and great to get all the sand off at the end of the beach day. The owners renovated the kitchen over the winter so I will update this review after our next trip. In short, you cannot go wrong with this great house!
