Quiet, Relaxing and Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

After attending a wedding in Ione, we headed to The Coop for the weekend. What a wonderful way to spend a weekend. We sat on the dock and soaked up the sun, sat on the deck and watched the birds, saw momma deer with her newly born baby, went for a walk, visited with Dick, who showed us the amazing garden and we got to meet Nugget. What a sweet dog. Judy was very thoughtful and checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. We watched a DVD, had a BBQ dinner and relaxed in the comfortable chairs. The bed was also very comfortable. The Coop is decorated with such interesting, unique items. The cabin is very clean and the set up is perfect. I cannot wait to return in the fall to see the amazing color of the trees. What a gem!

Wonderful Getaway - Rain or Shine!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the coop this weekend for a little romantic getaway, sans kids. It was so nice having the beautiful cabin to be in, or sitting outside enjoying nature. The weather didn't permit us to use the boat (rain, smoke, wind) but even though we didn't get to enjoy the river, we loved having the wonderful cabin to be in. It was so peaceful outside, wildlife all around us. We saw several deer every day, along with their babies. Also, some quail, birds, a friendly black cat, and NUGGET of course :) I am already trying to figure out what weekend we can come next! Breakfast was WONDERFUL both days. I wish you'd offer dinner, too :) With only one restaurant in town and with it still a drive away, it would be great to have the option (meatloaf and potatoes, chicken and veggies, etc...). We would have happily paid for that service as well as breakfasts. The accommodations were great and we didn't need for anything. Even though going long term (more than a few days) without an oven or stove would be difficult, having the grill did work for us for the weekend. We were able to get steaks from the local market and some sides to grill up. Overall, it was exactly what we wanted - a quiet, peaceful, tranquil place to relax and rest but have the outdoor options to hike, boat, etc... nearby! Thank you again for everything!!!!

You can't go wrong at "The Coop"

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at "The Coop" for three nights and would highly recommend staying here. The first thing I said to Judy was, "When can we move in?" She responded, "You already have." Little did she know I meant to live there. It is a cozy place with all the conveniences of home. We loved grilling on the BBQ and sitting out on the back porch with a peek-a-boo view of the river. We were pleasantly surprised when the deer came right up to us. They obviously had made human contact before. Judy and Dick were friendly, helpful and gracious hosts. The hot, delicious breakfast was delivered every morning. Judy's garden is an amazing treat for any gardener.

My wife and I, and several friends, recently had the pleasure of staying at Richard and Judy Ashton’s, “The Coop”, at Rivers Roost, near Ione, WA.

This is by far, one of the nicest establishments I have ever stayed in. It is located on a beautiful piece of riverfront property, on the Pend Oreille River. Both the rooms in the house and The Coop, are clean, very nicely decorated, and have the most comfortable beds. The Coop is roomy, with TV, WIFI, fridge, and great water. The bathrooms are also very clean and roomy.

To top it all off, Richard and Judy are really nice people, with lots of useful local knowledge, and fun to talk to.

If there was any sorrow in our stay, it was when we arrived and found out we could have had BBQ’d ribs prepared for dinner, if only we had known! If the breakfast we had the next day was any indication of the quality of the dinner, I’m really sorry we missed it. The breakfast was delicious and reasonably priced.

We enjoyed our stay immensely, and plan on returning.

Restful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My mother and I choose to stay at the Coop for a much deserved mother/daughter weekend. We left feeling rested and rejuvenated! Our every need was met....quiet, beautiful, super comfy beds, delicious breakfast and lots of area to roam. Judy and Richard were a pleasure to visit with and provided an absolute fountain of information about the area. A repeat trip will definitely be in our future.
