About the property

4 Bedroom 3 3/4 Bath Surrounded By Nature With Mountaintop Views

The Star of Bear Valley Springs

Our home is named after the many Texas Stars seen throughout the house.

Built for grand parties and events, the house is perfect for anything from a romantic weekend for two to a family reunion. As you enter you immediately see the floating staircase in the main hall. Walking past the stair you come to the dining room with seating for six (expands to seat 8). Off to the side is a cozy seating and conversation area centered on the gas fireplace.

With four bedrooms and a convertible sofa in the office / home theater, we have beds for 9 people and can accommodate more with rollaway beds or inflatable beds, with prior notice. Maximum occupancy is 15, by prior arrangement.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware and table settings. Coffee, spices, oils, etc., are included. The kitchen has two sinks, an induction cooktop, microwave, convection oven, granite counter tops and breakfast bar seating for 8.

The floors on the main level are Travertine Marble, with a wood floor in the Master Bedroom. The upper level is carpeted, with a wood floor in the office/home theater.

About the bedrooms:

There are two bedrooms on the main level. There’s the Master Bedroom with California King bed, a grand bath with shower and a walk in Jacuzzi Tub (handicapped accessible), as well as a small single bedroom, which doubles as a library with a cast iron gas stove for cozy reading on a chilly day.

The upper level has two bedrooms, one with a Queen bed and one that can be made up as two twins or as a King bed.

There is a full sized convertible sofa in the office/home theater.

The house has 4 LED LCD televisions. There are large screen 1080p TVs in the Kitchen / Family Room, the Office/Home Theater and the Master Bedroom. The Queen Bedroom has a mid-size LCD TV.

With DirecTV Satellite, Netflix and 3 Blue Ray players, there’s plenty of opportunity for group or individual viewing as desired.

Broadband internet is provided by two built in WIFI Access Points.

The house is handicapped accessible, with wheelchair access from the main level and the garage. An elevator serves all three levels. The master bath has a large shower with a bench seat and a “walk in” Jacuzzi 'Safety Tub' with jets and air bubbles, as well as grab bars in the toilet area.

Our neighborhood - Bear Valley Springs, California:

Bear Valley Springs is a private gate-guarded community, located in the Tehachapi Mountains in California. The community spans 25,000 acres and 3,500 home sites, with 2,500 homes now built. With an estimated population of 7,500 people and 800 horses. There’s lots of space and 50 miles of open trails for horseback riding or hiking as well as lakes for fishing. Bear Valley Springs' Elevation ranges from 4,118 feet to 6,934 feet (Bear Mountain).

We're in the mountains, but near enough to the cute little town of Tehachapi, which actually has a 'main street' with shops, restaurants and museums. So if you need a good restaurant or a little town time, it's nearby.

Our house is at 6,200 feet, with views into the three valleys: Cummings Valley, Bear Valley and the San Joaquin Valley.

View the spectacular sunrises and sunsets from the house, through walls of windows and the 8 foot high picture window doors . . . or from the two attached decks.

We have four distinct seasons at the house, including significant winter snowfall. The house is heated by three large propane furnaces, supplemented by 2 Pellet Stoves, a gas stove and a gas fireplace. With double glazed windows and multiple heat sources, the house is snug and comfy in any weather.

On top of the mountain as we are, we escape the summer heat of the valleys. Some days in the summer the temperature in Tehachapi can reach or exceed 100 degrees, but at our house the temperature rarely exceeds 80 degrees and we often have a cool breeze.

We’re on 4 acres, but look down on 40 acres of undeveloped forest that is spectacular in any season.

There’s a meditation area below the house and behind a big rock, where you can sit on a bench with only the sounds of nature to aid the slowing of your heartbeat.

Rental of our property for 7 days or more comes with access to the Oak Tree Country Club, Golf Course, Tennis, Equestrian Center, Horse Trails, Rifle Range, Swimming and Indoor Recreation (Basketball, pool tables, pingpong, foosball, etc.) The lakes and wilderness areas are always available.

About Dwight Lindsey

We enjoy the forest, the wildlife and the views, particularly the sunsets, here on our mountain. We bought this house as a mountain retreat where peace and quiet are the norm. We love the quiet . . . our heartbeats slow when we arrive. We'd love to share that with you.

Dwight Lindsey purchased this house in 2013

Why Dwight Lindsey chose Bear Valley Springs

We've loved Bear Valley springs from the moment we saw it and this house is so special that we fell in love with it immediately as well. The house was obviously designed for two purposes. It's a great place to bring an extended family together and it's also just perfect for elegant parties.

What makes this house unique

Birds, wildlife of all kinds and spectacular views of three valleys from 6200 feet. Sit on one of the two decks and enjoy the view and sounds of nature, or view it from the large windows throughout the house. Hike down the hill a bit and you can be surrounded by only oaks, pines and granite boulders. If you really want to get out into nature we have 35 miles of horseback riding trails and 10 miles of hiking trails

We have satellite television, WIFI and 'Whole House Audio', so if you tire of the quiet and sounds of nature, you can watch TVs, Netflix movies or rock the house from your iPod.

If you stay 7 days or more with us and specifically arrange it with us, you can have access to the Oak Tree Country Club, with Golf, Tennis and Pool.

The golf course is a 9-hole, par-36 course designed by Ted Robinson, Sr. It opened on May 19, 1973. The course winds through the valley floor with both elevated and low-level dual tees that will test even the most skilled golfer for a full 18 holes. The men's course rating is 70.3, slope 122. The women's course rating is 77.2, slope 137, par 73. The practice facilities include a full length driving range with target greens, a chipping green with sand trap and a putting green that copies the speed of the greens on the course. At the 8th hole we provide a posted menu so that you can call in 'to go orders' from the Mulligan Room When you have finished your game your food will be ready and waiting!

We have two lakes in the community, Cub Lake and 4 Island Lake, for fishing and boating (no gas motors).

The larger lake, 4-Island Lake is a 37.5 acre lake located along the BVS Golf Course. The lake is stocked for fishing enthusiasts and allows swimming, fishing, boating (sail, canoes, catamarans, kayaks, row boats and electric boats not in excess of three horsepower). Also available are launch ramps, 3 fishing docks, a picnic area, sand volleyball court, bathrooms and playground.

Luxurious Relaxation Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Had an amazing experience at this beautiful home. We welcomed 2017 with 12 family members. The home was big enough for all of us to enjoy. The elevator was great as it made it easy for my grandparents to have access to all three floors of the house. We had the privilege to see it snow all evening long. The views are breath-taking and so beautiful. The owner of the home, Dwight, was super friendly and welcoming. He even had the driveway cleaned for us after the snow had settled. Cannot say enough great things about this place! Will definitely be back sometime!

Mountain Quilt Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect location for a quilt retreat! The house was huge with plenty of room for each quilter to have their own workstation. There were multiple cutting and ironing stations, along with a huge design wall. When we needed to take a break, we were able to lounge around, watch television, listen to music, or walk the property and take in all the spectacular views! The house had an enormous kitchen (fully equipped), a number of rooms to easily get lost in, and even an elevator to get my things up from the garage level. I slept great, ate well, sewed into the night and had a fabulous time. I would certainly recommend this home to any group or family. Bonus: I even saw some deer on the property!

Sew Sew Sew

  • 5 of 5

I went on a sewing retreat to this home and it was amazing. Plenty of room for us all to sew, sleep, eat, and enjoy the beautiful view. The facility is gorgeous with an amazing view both in the daytime and at night. There was fun for all. It has a huge kitchen, plenty of sleeping space, and more than enough parking space for all of our cars.

Perfect Decision

  • 5 of 5

Totally recommend staying here! We decided to rent the house to accommodate our family while in Bear Valley. It was the perfect decision and could not have asked for anything more wonderful than the experience we had. Beautiful views and actually were lucky to have a snowstorm which even enhanced the view-if that is possible. We had some people over after a memorial service and worked out great with all the parking and the size of the kitchen. Really enjoyed our stay and hope others get to enjoy

Beautiful stay

  • 5 of 5

Thanks for a great weekend at your place. We were there for a wedding at Four Island Lake, which we could see from atop the mountain where we stayed. The house is wonderful, with big windows everywhere to take in the epic views. We had a blast.

Bear Valley Springs is a 25,000 acre gated community with approximately 2500 homes now built. Bear Valley Springs is a few miles outside of the lovely town of Tehachapi. Our house, offered as a vacation rental, is 8 miles from the BVS gate and sits on 4 acres. We look down on approximately 40 acres of undeveloped forest and into three valleys below. We're 130 miles from Los Angeles and 150 miles from the West entrance to Death Valley National Park.

We have lots of wildlife. We often see fox, bobcat, deer, hawks and owl on our property. Elk and bear roam nearby.
