Tale of two experiences
1st. The good part- location is great. 2nd floor corner unit with a awesome beach view. The master bed is super comfy. There is a pullout sofa and another guest bedroom. The 2 bedrooms are on opposite ends of the unit. Coffee maker has a metal filter, so you don’t have to buy filters. There is a subway sandwich shop across the street for cheap eats and you are 5-10 minutes from several restaurants. The Hills allowed us to check in at 1 instead of 4 which we greatly appreciated.
2. The bad part- upon arrival I went to open the balcony sliding door and the bottom part of the handle became completely detached. It never crossed my mind that I had broken it. I told the rest of my family to be careful and just use the sides to push the door open. I honestly thought that it must have malfunctioned or someone just glued it to make it look like it was in place. Anyway, we went about our 3 day stay and never gave it a thought.
When we were leaving we did the usual routine, take out the garbage, start the dishwasher, left towels by washer etc.
I received an email that we would not be getting any of our XXX damage deposit back due to the door handle. Lewis sent me a pic of the handle, which there is no disputing is broken or at least in disrepair.
I just feel like I’ve been made to pay for something that was out of my control. The door handle detached/broke in my hand. Yes. Did I break it? I don’t think so. I think that it was worn, my opening it was the straw that broke the camels back, and it broke. I am sincerely sorry for that. I googled a similar door handle and the cost was $25 at Home Depot. I’ll take responsibility for the door, because I guess it was just my luck, but losing $$$ seems a little steep.
If you read the previous review the guest talked about some of the furniture/hardware being worn. I believe this to be the case with this door handle. If you flip a light switch and the bulb blows did you break the bulb? I am fine with replacing the handle, but at a fair price and that’s not what happened.
This is only the 2nd or 3rd time we have had to use a damage deposit in the last 5 years over dozens of guests. The sliding glass door handle has been replaced and functions well. Prior guests have reported malfunction/damaged items upon discovery and have not been charged.
Furniture and appliances have been replaced this year.
Great for the money.
Let's be honest this is a good buy for beach front. The beds are very comfortable with clean sheets. Overall the apartment is in a bit of disrepair. Shakey tiles, old tile, older appliances, cabinets, doors, windows, etc.. On a scale of 1-10 for cleanliness I would rate it a 6. It certainly was not dirty by any measure. The furniture is old and a little dingy but comfortable and reasonably clean.
The trick here to me is to understand what to expect. Considering all the minuses above this place is still priced very very well and I would consider staying there again. There is some great value in staying on the beach in this price range.
Again you can't please all people all the time. This unit was renovated in 2013 and is complimented for its modern appearance.
As items need attention they are attended to.
What a great place
Location location location!!!!
Gorgeous veiws, but condo needs some TLC
The ocean veiws from this condo are breathtaking! We saw dolphins and a sea turtle from the balcony, but the chairs on the balcony are terribly uncomfortable. The tiles in the bathroom are loose and there are spaces between the laminate wood floor planks. The floor also slopes in many areas.
In late April 2013 this area suffered catastrophic rainfall and beach erosion. Our building suffered but the foundation was rebuilt better than before. The state, county, and we ourselves have guaranteed the full and safe restoration of our unit. Nonetheless a few stigma from that event remain but do NOT detract from our beautiful experience every time we come here.
Great Location with beautiful view. Condo very comfortable.
The unit was exactly what this family of 3 needed!
