The villa (aka condo) was a very nice property. Well provisioned with cooking utensils, laundry, iron, some folding each chairs... Tvs in every room, if you need this, and a comfy living room, nice bedrooms.
Missing: beach towels, though we did bring our own, it is quite common that rentals provide them. While the villa is at "ground level" you do need to go up, and then down a flight of stairs to enter, so definitely not for a handicapped person, and a little tough with large luggage. The patio area is nice, though the yard crews came by and sprayed chemicals while we were there, so we stopped sitting out there.
I have stayed at many resort properties, many places. This was a nice one, if you enjoy Feeling like you are in an exclusive place, a bit like a prison! You have to carry your pass if you ride out on your bike, you need a pass to park at the beach, or the condo, or marina areas, however, the process of getting passes for all in our party was frustrating.
Also, there was not anything inside the condo that provided any orientation to the area. A little notebook explained the "rules of the house" but offered no info such as a map, how to access the pool, or the restaurants or features of the Sea Pines area. It took us at least 24 hrs to figure things out, and this could have been much easier!
There is a path to the beach right across the street, it opens to the opening to the bay, but you can walk around and come to more ocean beach within about a half mile. Not really great bathing conditions, especially if you have kids, because the sand drops off steeply from the waters edge.
We saw dolphins along the waterfront many times, and it was a beautiful area.
Rental bicycles can be delivered, and they are a great way to get around.
Personally, I felt a little imprisoned by the whole gated community, muted olive green homes and condos, with absolutely no freedom for people to add their own colors or style. I realize that the planners wanted everything to be very "nice", but I felt like I was in the community where Stepford wives was filmed!
I don't think that I will stay in this area again, but others might just love the "whitewash" effect. Nothing but WASPs here.
