About the property

Once you have discovered our peaceful get-a-way you'll visit again and again!!

A beautiful and serene setting, with a gorgeous view of hills and rolling pasture. Our house is situated on a sprawling 56 acre farm which is secluded and peaceful yet only a 10 minute drive to most anything you would need. While maintaining it's rustic charm Misty Mountain Retreat is updated with all the modern conveniences. The kitchen is fully equipped with every appliance needed including dishwasher. Dine at our beautiful handmade farm table, which comfortably seats 8. Three bedrooms and 2 baths are all stocked with fresh linens. There is a washer and dryer on site if you are inclined to use them. Enjoy the large front porch with comfortable seating and of course what country porch would be complete without a swing. Warning: beautiful view, peaceful and relaxing, no deadlines= highly addictive.

When you visit historic downtown Hinton, be sure to check out our great shops including Grandma's House Antiques, Vicky's Boutique, and The Oak and Otter. The Market Place serves delicious sandwiches made fresh or try the Chestnut Revival Coffee Shop just down the way. Across the river you will find more antique shopping and Hinton's own Dairy Queen, with those famous hot dogs on a toasted bun. You can also choose from McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Subway, La Bamba or Kirk's, if you like hometown country cooking.

We are located just 30 minutes from three of West Virginia's most beautiful state parks, Pipestem, Bluestone, and Grandview. Some popular activities include golfing, white water rafting, paddle boating, hiking, biking, and horseback riding. You won't want to miss a trip to the New River Gorge Bridge, Tamarack, Exhibition Coal Mine, Lost World Caverns, and the world famous Greenbrier Resort.

About Yvonne

Being a military brat I lived in a variety of interesting places but none more beautiful than the hills of West Virginia. Every summer we spent several weeks here, visiting my grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. We listened to the stories of days gone by or just 'visited' on the front porch. Grandpa always treated us with fresh vegetables and fruits from his garden and orchards and Grandma's cooking was a taste of heaven! Who wouldn't have great memories? When the opportunity arose to raise our family here we jumped on it. Many years have gone by but the beauty of our little valley, nestled in the Appalachian mountains, has never changed. Now we offer a beautiful retreat for guests away from traffic and deadlines. We feel sure at the end of your visit there will be a special place in your heart for the West Virginia hills. After all it is 'Almost Heaven'.

Beautiful location, peaceful place

  • 5 of 5

The first thing you'll notice is that the house is decorated beautifully and is clean as a pin; very impressive. The location is great - very secluded, but close to town. It was also close to several waterfalls, some that are usually very impressive, but unfortunately the water level was way down, so we didn't get the full effect of the falls. The locals are very friendly and honest, too, as we discovered when we had to go into Hinton for some emergency car service.

The beds are very good and the owner really makes you feel welcome and is a joy to deal with. We never turned on the television, so I can't speak to that at all. The kitchen is very well stocked. We enjoyed sitting on the porch with our coffee in the morning, especially when a few deer decided to grace us with their presence. Everything is as described in the listing, however, the angle of the main picture of the house makes it look like you have an expansive view - that is not the case. It sits on a hill, but in a little depression, and you can only see the hills above you, but that is still very nice. I would happily rent there again.

Quiet, Relaxing and Scenic

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely wonderful place to get away! Three of us on a vacation motorcycling the hills of WV and this house was the perfect place to end each day. It was within riding distance of a number of attractions and the beautiful views and the peaceful location were terrific. Yvonne couldn't have been easier to deal with. Very accommodating and accessible.

The Kitchen is really well set up and the house is nicely furnished. The place really feels more like a "home" than a house.

Thanks for a great vacation!

This was a charming place to stay!!!

  • 5 of 5

These accommodations were superb. Everything was provided that we could possibly need for our stay. It was like a "home away from home." Yvonne was always available to us and was very helpful in answering any questions we had. Scenery was breathtaking and the privacy was great.

Would definitely recommend this hideaway to anyone traveling to this destination.

Thanks, Yvonne!!!

Scenic Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I took my daughter on her first WV fishing trip and we enjoyed our stay here. It was clean and the view from the balcony was unbelievable. This is a hidden gem in the Hinton, I know that we will be back again for another stay.

Always quiet, clean, and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed at Riverview Lofts several times when visiting Hinton, and I've always enjoyed it. The private balcony overlooking the New River alone is reason enough: by day or night, the views are endlessly fascinating. No kitchen (mini-fridge, coffee maker, and microwave), but the area's best restaurants are very close by. Note: not handicap accessible.

One of West Virginia's most spectacular sites is the fall foliage. Many nature lovers make a yearly trip during the months of September and October. No day is the same as the mountains burst forth in a continuous kaleidoscope of colors. Fall with it's cooler temperatures and beautiful seasonal sites is yet another reason to visit Wild and Wonderful West Virginia!!
