Our second floor corner unit is bright and comfortable with a private balcony overlooking the mile long white sand beach, where you can see the sunrise with your morning coffee and sunset while cooking on the new propane grill. The cobblestone main street, Roca Blanca is a short walk away and has dozens of shops and restaurants that once night falls, turns into a lively pedestrian thoroughfare where vendors sell their crafts and the smell of seafood and roasted meats lures you to sit and stay for a while. The big ocean waves will challenge you to remain upright, while the serene infinity pool is a great place to cool down and relax during the heat of the day. The best view of the sunset is from the rooftop patio, and with a sharp eye you can catch a glimpse of whales and dolphins. The few vendors walking the beach are friendly, courteous and not pushy. Two pillow-top queen beds and twin bunk beds in air conditioned rooms ensure a great night's rest. The kitchen is fully equipped with all you will need to prepare your own meals or you can take it easy and visit one of the many great restaurants within walking distance. The menus range from traditional Mexican fare with seafood being a readily available to Italian and from high cuisine to burgers and fries. Everything is very reasonably priced and served by friendly, helpful people.
This area of Mexico is famous for its artisanal cheese, chocolate, and Mezcal! You can get basic provisions in town or go to Pochutla by taxi for more shopping needs. Groceries, clothing and electronics are available all week but be sure to check out market day when the streets burgeon with vendors selling fresh produce, fish, fruit, crafts, and everything from nuts & bolts to pots & pans.
The fishing is fantastic, diving & snorkeling outfitters abound, and tours into the mountains to go to the coffee plantations or check out the waterfalls in the area are available. The turtle sanctuary and museum in Mazunte and alligator reserve in Ventanilla are all close by. The taxi service is good and the fares are reasonable but be sure to agree on a price in advance.
Be advised that Zipolite is a clothing optional beach but most people do remain clothed and everyone is very respectful, we do have neighboring beaches closeby that require swimwear. Our condominium does not allow public nudity on its grounds, fyi. You will meet travelers from Europe and the Americas, Asia, and Australia as well as all of the friendly locals! This place is truly a hidden gem and a far cry from the busy resort cities of Mexico and crowded all inclusives.
