About the property

Apartment, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8)

This is a magnificently restored 1895 town house in historic Columbia Heights.

Located just steps to sightseeing and everything else that our amazing capital has to offer in a historical family neighborhood.

Award winning design for contemporary lifestyle while still preserving 1895's elegance. Unit Two is 2,500 sq ft duplex. Spacious, elegant and luxury condo, it has three bedrooms, one with king size bed, one with a queen size bed and an open bedroom with a day bed + two twins and two full marble tiled bathrooms with heated floors.

Beautiful designer kitchen fully equipped with all stainless steel appliances, including Wolf range, Viking microwave and white glossy Italian cabinets. The unit has one queen-sized bedroom, one king-size bedroom and a daybed with two twins in the third bedroom.

Garage parking is available near our unit for $20 to $30 a day.

Street parking is by permit only between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. We can get visitor's parking pass for you from a local police station for $40 for the stay, and you can park, day and night, on the street. The parking pass is for zone 1, so any street marked zone 1 on the signs is fine (quite a large area). Please note that during the season the streets get cleaned -please read signs clearly and visibly posted on each street when you must move your car for street cleaning.

Memorable stay - great home

  • 5 of 5

Phenomenal home, one of my favorite rentals of all time. The home had updated chef's kitchen perfect for cooking, very nice bathrooms, plenty of room for a big family, charm throughout the house, cute yard, and very comfortable beds.

It has a great location with shopping and food nearby, cute neighborhood as well.

Eva was very communicative, and was very helpful during our stay. Would recommend to anyone!

Thank you for a great stay! Hope you had a happy holiday. Ours was lovely and your condo was perfect. It was so warm we were even able to use the back porch!

Best, Mindy

Does not have 3 bedrooms

  • 2 of 5

This home is advertised as having 3 bedrooms which is not correct. There are only 2 bedrooms. In addition there is a pull out couch in the living room and another small bed that also pulls out in the hallway outside of the downstairs bedroom. If you are only concerned with having enough beds to sleep more than 4 people you might be ok. However we rented this unit under the impression that there were 3 separate bedrooms and paid a nightly price that was comparable to other 3 bedroom units in the same vicinity.

If you try to use the pull out in the downstairs hallway, any occupants that are using the bedroom cannot easily get past the pullout to access the bathroom.

Using the pull out couch in the living room makes it tight to get past to the kitchen.

Even though the home has a nice kitchen with modern appliances, it is a tiny kitchen and with any more than 4 people in the kitchen it is cramped.

Owner was good at communicating before and during our stay but I am not receiving any response to my complaint regarding the false advertising of the home being listed as a 3 bedroom unit.

I would not recommend this home if you truly are looking for 3 bedrooms and you are paying the nominal 3 bedroom rate for this area. My impression of a "bedroom" is a room with a door where the occupants can expect privacy. There are only 2 rooms in this unit that offer that.

Also, there is another rental unit above and if there is anyone occupying it you will easily hear them walking around.

VRBO was not helpful in resolving my complaint concerning the issue of the bedrooms.

Large Family Visit to DC

  • 5 of 5

This property is located in a beautiful historic neighborhood with about a 10 minute walk to the Metro and about a 5 minute walk to some great eating. We stayed with our 6 children and grandma and had plenty of room. The apartment is beautiful with updated kitchen and bathrooms. Eva was easy to get a hold of and quick to respond. Check in and out was simple. Eva even helped us out with the parking situation. I would stay here again.

I would highly suggest checking out Oohs and Aahs restaurant, it is a Diner, Drive-in and Dives only about a 7 minute walk away.

We walked all over and at night and we always felt safe.

it was awesome

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a week and it was just what we were looking for. Had husband, me, grandma and our two kids (10, 12).

Clean, warm, good linens, well maintained, good response from owner, decent Wifi, accurate description on listings... totally legit. The beds are futons, so be prepared for firm support. The pillows could have been better... but now I'm nit-picking :).

We ate at the house almost every night... Safeway Delivery delivered right to our door! Saved probably $1000 by eating at the house and packing a lunch before our daily excursions.

It is near an old Historically Black College... Howard University. There are some public housing units near the subway... and this may be why people say they felt 'unsafe'. We found EVERYONE to be either friendly or ignored us totally. My daughter (12) and I walked to the subway and back at 9pm on Friday night and felt no less-safe than an any other large metro city. Husband and I walked to the hip district of Adams Morgan for some drinks... again, not a hint of a problem.
