About David Gibbs

I am a RN and my spouse is a Psychologist. The property was built for family vacations. At one time as a custom home designer and contractor I built homes in Hayden Lake. I designed this classic Craftsman Style home which was just finished in 2013. We prefer to rent direct to our customers and you can reach us at anytime: Dave (208) 651-6433. The rooms have 10 ft ceilings yet feels cozy. The interior has some accent white pine walls & ceilings, beautiful knotty maple cabinets with tile counters in kitchen and the bath. We have enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, wild life and views of sunsets over the mountain tops.

David Gibbs purchased this house in 2008

Why David Gibbs chose Hayden

You have the option to rent our 24 foot Chapparal Sunesta power boat (if you are an experienced boat operator) for an additional $1500/week. Local boat rentals go for $350+/day that are smaller and not nearly as nice.

The dock surface is TREX planking (which is splinter free and resists slipping when wet).

Few houses on Hayden Lake get late afternoon sun or have a sandy beach. If the property does not face west it can be dark early and colder once the sunlight is gone. The water is warmer, has less boat traffic & noise than Lake Coeur d'Alene. Many other rentals are referred to as 'rustic' or 'cabin' meaning they are old and worn. The quality of this house is similar to what you would find at a resort. The house has superior insulation and with the heat pump it is cool in the hot summer days. This property has lots of parking and a boat launch is a mile away if you bring your own boat. The walk down to the lake is a gentle non rocky slope. There is an awning over the lake side deck to block the sun. There is a fire pit on the property and fire wood is for the taking in the forest. Most days you will see deer in the evening, sometimes Lake Otters come to the dock and there are Osprey nest to view close by. Free use of paddle board, 3 kayaks, peddle boat & row 14 ft fishing boat

What makes this house unique

If you boat & swim, having an easy accessible beach and dock makes a great gathering place for the family. The 2nd deck immediately above the beach gives a place for the adults to lounge while have a view of all that goes on. The owner will consider the rental of a 24 foot Chaparral lake boat to qualified renters. A 14ft aluminum Jon row boat for fishing ($100 additional fee). Free use of a small peddle boat and three Kayaks and a paddle board are are available for your use. The lake bottom in the swim area is covered with large screened frames that prevent any grass growth.

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful area and stunning view from the upper level of this home. Comfy and well stocked. Nice lakefront area and swimming. The house next door was rented for family also and it was great to all be so close to each other. Thank you for renting your home to us!

2nd Visit as Good as the First

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in 2014, and returned in 2016. The house is very comfortable for our family of four, and has a nice little beach area. We also rented the boat and had a ball pulling the kids around on tubes and wake boards (tube is provided, brought our own wake board). Everything is as advertised. We shall return again!

Wonderful weekend at the Lake

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend at Hayden Lake. It was a cold weekend but despite the cold we had a wonderful time. There were many board games to choose from in this lovely condo. We spent a few nights watching movies (they have many movies to choose from). Playing in the lake with the kayaks and paddle boat were the high light for my kids as the water was still warm but the outside temperature was not so warm and rain isn't fun to waterski in. The dock is perfect for securing your boat and it is true no slivers with the beautiful trek decking. I think it is important to point out this house is perfect for young people who can climb stairs and walk down the sloped back yard to the dock. I think an older couple with knee or hip problems may have difficulty with this house, as lovely as it is, because of the stairs and slope. It was wonderful for our family full of teenagers. Thanks for sharing your piece of heaven with us for the weekend.

Great location on the Lake

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property two summers ago and had a fabulous time. The home is nice and very well equipped. The location on the lake is superb. It was great to have both a private dock and a private beach. There is a little slope getting down to the lake but easily traversable for most people. We would definitely stay here again.

The boats provided were the hit of the stay!

  • 4 of 5

The lake is beautiful and the beach access from the house is wonderful! We had 4 adults and two kids (12 & 15) in our group. The kids and I had a ball with the kayaks and the paddle boat. In fact the 12 year old girl spent the majority of her time in the paddle boat - she even read her book while paddling around! The dock is well maintained (we did find a couple of nails sticking up but took care of those to avoid mishaps) but I recommended swimming shoes to avoid splinters.

The house is nice but isn't really suitable for a group like ours. The master bedroom has a queen and is very roomy. The bunk beds (which is where my husband & I ended up sleeping) are in one of the garage bays downstairs. And while getting up into the upper bunk (twin) required some skill and I had to sweep away some spider webs once up there it was actually quite comfortable and my husband said the lower bunk (full size) was comfortable as well. My sister in-law and her husband slept in the master, our niece slept in the 3rd "bedroom" which had a queen size sleeper sofa. With a piano already in that room there was little space left once the bed was pulled out and no dresser or table for clothes. Our nephew slept on the living room floor the first night then we bought an air mattress for him to sleep on the rest of the time. It was a little cramped having Sam in the living room as we didn't have a "public" space besides the kitchen table but we managed. The kitchen is decent sized and there were some staples but bring a couple of dishwasher tabs, aluminum foil, etc. and storage bowls for leftovers. Plently of towels, hair dryer, etc. The one bath proved interesting with 6 people, can't imagine having a 7th person. The walk down to the beach is a bit steep so don't forget your sunscreen and what not or you'll be getting in some good cardio. We also found quite a bit of glass so shoes should be worn going up and down.

We saw deer every day while driving around and several each evening looking at the living room window as well as rabbits, chipmunks and even an eagle.

All in all we enjoyed our time here but will look for a true 3 bedroom for our next visit.
